주체; 외부세계가 흐르는 공간

Abstract

본 연구는 주체가 다양한 외부세계와 더불어 존재하는 가운데 어떻게 스스로를 정립시키며 살아가는가에 대한 연구이다. 연구자는 다양한 변화 속에서 존재하는 주체의 모습을 도자작업으로 형상화함으로써 예술적 감각을 통한 존재의미의 발견을 시도하였다. 주체의 존재의미는 스스로 형성되는 것이 아닌 외부와의 다양한 관계를 통해 발견되고 의미를 얻는다. 연구자는 존재에 대한 물음으로부터 무엇이 나의 존재를 설명 할 수 있을지에 대해 고민하였고, 나의 존재를 설명해줄 수 있는 요소들은 모두 본인의 외부에 있다는 것을 깨닫게 되었다. 이러한 연구 동기를 바탕으로 본 연구자는 외부세계를 끊임없이 가로지르며 통과하는 주체의 모습에 주목하여 주체가 세계 속에 내던져짐으로부터 외부세계와 어떠한 관계맺음을 통해 형성되는지에 대해 탐구하였다. 본 연구는 외부세계를 통해 주체의 존재의미를 찾고자 하는 연구 목적에 따라 주체와 외부세계의 관계를 마르틴 하이데거(Martin Heidegger)의 ‘세계-내-존재’ 개념으로 살펴보았다. ‘세계-내-존재’는 세계를 통하여 자신의 존재를 확인할 수 있는 인간에 대한 표현으로써 인간과 외부세계의 상호의존적인 관계를 드러낸다. 그는 인간이 세계 속에 내던져짐으로부터 세상의 다양한 것과 관계하며 자신의 고유한 모습을 실현 시키며 살아가는 존재임을 강조한다. 하지만 여러 외부 조건에 영향을 받는 주체는 현실에서 언제나 자신의 고유한 존재를 드러내며 살아가지 못한다. 외부세계는 주체가 자신을 세계에 드러낼 수 있도록 하는 조건임과 동시에 주체에게 많은 갈등과 변화를 가져다준다. 이에 따라, 외부세계에 둘러싸여 살아가는 주체가 외부세계와의 마주침으로부터 어떠한 변화를 겪으며 그 속에서 자신의 존재를 이어가는지에 대해 연구하였다. 이에 대한 연구는 자크 라캉(Jaques Lacan)의 주체형성이론을 참고하였다. 라캉의 주체형성이론은 외부와의 관계를 통해 주체의 형성이 어떻게 이루어지는지를 현실 속 구체적인 경험에 결부지어 논의되었기에 본 연구의 적절한 근거가 될 수 있었다. 그의 이론에 따라 다음과 같이 연구가 진행되었다. 우선, 주체가 타자에게서 자신을 확인하는 과정을 통해 자신이 결여의 존재임을 확인하고, 타자와 스스로를 분리시킴으로써 주체의 자리에 들어서는 과정을 살펴보았다. 그 다음, 현실세계에 진입한 주체가 상징적 질서들에 자신을 동일시하며 여러 갈등과 변화 속에서 스스로를 정립시키는 과정을 알아보았다. 이 과정에서 주체는 본래의 모습을 잃어버리지만 상징적 질서로부터 얻게 된 현실세계의 빈 공간인 무의식과 욕망을 통해 다시금 자신의 존재를 끊임없이 감각하며 삶을 이어간다. 이와 같은 내용을 통해 연구자는 세계 속에 내던져진 주체가 외부세계를 인식하고, 그것과의 관계 속에서 자신을 자리를 찾아가는 존재임을 알 수 있었다. 위의 연구내용을 바탕으로 내던져진 존재로부터 무한한 가능성을 지닌 주체로 이행하는 과정을 도자작업으로 형상화 하였다. 본인의 작업은 연구의 진행과 함께 스스로를 새롭게 바라보게 된 것에 대한 기록이다. 작품은 그저 존재함이 전부인 것 같던 날것의 존재가 외부세계와 함께 살아감이 가져다주는 여러 갈등과 변화를 수용하고 마침내 새로움 속에서 끝없이 이어지는 자기 자신에게로 향해 나아가는 일련의 주체형성 과정을 담고 있다. 본 논문은 그동안 드러나지 않았던 주체의 모습을 외부세계와의 관계를 통해 발견하기 위한 여정이다. 이 연구는 새로움을 향한 존재로서의 주체에 대한 발견만큼이나 연구자가 세상의 다양한 존재들에 가치를 부여하고 이로써 세계를 더욱 의미 있게 바라보게 되었다는 점에 있어서도 의미를 더할 수 있다. 연구자는 이를 기반으로 앞으로 삶을 더 생기 있게 감각하며 창조활동을 이어가길 희망한다.;This is the study on how a subject could establish himself and lives while he exists with various outer worlds. I attempted to discover the meaning of being through the esthetic sense by configuring the figure of the subject with ceramic works, which exists in the various changes. The meaning of the existence of the subject is not formed by itself but was discovered and gained through the various relations with outer world. I pondered about what I could explain my existence with as a being, from questions about the being, and I realized that all the elements which could explain myself is at outside. Based on this research motivation, I focused on the state of the subject who are ceaselessly passing through the outer world and studied that how the subject establishes himself by building what relationship with the outer world when he was thrown into the world. Due to the researching purpose of discovering the meaning of the subject through the outer world, this study investigate the relationship between the subject and the outer world by the concept ‘being-in-the-world' of Martin Heidegger. ‘being-in-the-world' is the expression about human being who lives confirming his existence through the world and it reveals the interdependent relationship between the human being and the outer world. Through the concept of ‘being-in-the-world’, he emphasizes that, from the moment a human being is thrown into the world, he then exists to fulfill his intrinsic state by building relationships with other various things in the world. But the subject who lives under the influence of various outside condition could not live revealing his intrinsic being. The outer world is the condition that the subject could reveal himself to the world and it gives many conflicts and changes to the subject at same time. So this study investigated what change the subject, who lives surrounded by the outer world, experiences by facing it and how he manages his existence in it. For the study on it, the formation of subjectivity of Jaques Lacan was referred. Because Lacan's formation of subjectivity discusses how the subject is established through the relationship with the outer world according to the specific experience in reality, it could be suitable ground of the study. According to his theory, the study below has been performed. First of all, this study investigated the process that the subject confirms he is a being of need through the process of conforming himself from others and he builds himself as the subject by separating himself from others. And then the study investigated the process that the subject, who enters the real world, establishes himself in various conflicts and changes by equating himself to the symbolized orders. In this process, the subject lose his intrinsic condition, but he lives by ceaselessly sensing his existence again through the subconsciousness and desire, which are empty spaces of the reality gained from the symbolized orders. Through this research, I figured out that the subject, who were thrown into the world, is the being who recognizes the outer world and establishes himself in the relationship with it. Based on the research above, I configured the process of the transition of the subject from a thrown being to the being with infinite possibility, as the ceramic works. This work is the record of new view on myself along with the progression of the research. The works contain a series of the subject establishing process that an unmatured being, to whom the existence itself looks like all, accepts various conflicts and changes that the life with the outer world brings, and eventually moves toward to the self who is endlessly continues in newness. The study is the journey to find the figure of the subject, which has not been revealed so far, in the connection with the outer world. The study could add another meaning in the point that I granted values to various beings in the world, as much as discovering the subject as a being to the newness, and became to see the world with more meaningful eyes. I hope I could sense vitality of my life better and continue my creative works based on this.
