20세기 기법을 활용한 로스 리 피니(Ross Lee Finney)의 교육용 피아노작품집 32 피아노 게임(32 Piano Games) 연구 및 교수법적 제안

Abstract

요즈음 많은 교육 현장에서 아이들의 창의력을 길러줄 수 있는 교육이 강조 되고 있다. 이와 같은 교육의 욕구에 부합하여 현대음악은 가장 혁신적인 표현기법을 가지고 있고, 새로운 음악적 어휘를 풍부하게 사용하고 있어 창의적인 연주와 자유로운 음악적 취향을 길러줄 수 있다. 하지만 국내에서는 현대 기법의 작품들을 고전· 바로크· 낭만시대의 작품보다 상대적으로 익숙하지 않다고 여겨 초급과정에서는 기피하는 경향이 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 20세기 기법을 다룬 초·중급 단계 교육용 레퍼토리의 중요성을 인지하고, 로스 리 피니(Ross Lee Finney,1906~1997)의 교육용 작품집 「32 피아노 게임(32 Piano Games)」을 연구하여 피니와 그의 작품집의 음악적 요소별 특징들을 살펴보고, 작품집에 나타난 20세기 기법들을 고찰 하였다. 그 후, 각 현대기법에 따른 대표곡들을 선정해 교수법적 제안을 하여, 초·중급의 단계의 현대작품들을 효과적인 교육방법으로 지도할 수 있도록 교사들에게 도움을 주는 것에 목적을 두었다. 20세기 미국 작곡가 중 한명인 피니는 다양한 스타일의 작품과 유능한 제자들을 다수 배출하여 대부분의 음악장르에 걸쳐 큰 공헌을 한 작곡가로, 특히 그의 교육용 작품들은 전통적 요소와 현대적 요소를 동시에 다루고 있어 교수학적 연구의 가치가 있다. 그 중 본 연구에서 다룬 「32 피아노 게임」은 초급 수준의 곡부터 난이도가 점진적으로 이루어져 어린 연령의 학습자부터 피아노의 20세기 현대 기법들을 학습하는 것이 가능하고, 다양한 음향과 연주기법을 다루고 있어 학습자의 상상력 유발에 크게 기여할만한 작품집으로 볼 수 있다. 이와 같은 본 연구를 통한 현대적 기법의 분석과 교수학적 제언이 현대적 작곡기법으로 작곡된 작품을 지도하고자 하는 피아노교사들에게 도움을 주고, 더 나아가 국내에는 잘 알려지지 않은 피니의 작품에 대한 심도 있는 연구가 더 이루어지기를 기대한다.;Nowadays, many educational sites emphasize an education that can develop children's creativity. Corresponding to this need for the education, contemporary music can develop creative performance and free musical taste since it has the most innovative expression techniques and uses new musical vocabularies abundantly. However, South Korea tend not to use works of modern techniques for education, considering them relatively less familiar than the works in the Classic, Baroque or Romantic era. Thus, this researcher recognized the importance of the beginner and intermediate level educational repertoires that deal with the 20th century techniques, investigated works for education, ‘32 Piano Games’ by Ross Lee Finney (1906-1997) and the characteristics of musical elements in Ross Lee Finney and his works, discussed the characteristics of the 20th century technique. In addition, this study aimed to select the representative songs according to each modern technique, make an instructional proposal and help teachers teach the contemporary works at the beginner and intermediate level with an effective educational method. One of the 20th century American composers, Ross Lee Finney produced works of various styles and a number of competent disciples and was a composer who made great contributions to most musical genres. Especially, since his educational works deal with the traditional elements and modern elements, simultaneously, they have values for pedagogical research. Of them, since ‘32 Piano Games’ has gradual difficulties from the beginner level songs, young learners can learn the 20th century modern techniques of the piano, earlier. Also, since they deal with various sounds and performance techniques, they can be considered works that can greatly contribute to learners’ imagination. Hopefully, the analysis of modern techniques and the pedagogical proposal through this study can help teachers who would teach the works composed by the modern composition techniques as well as Ross Lee Finney’s works. In addition, there are insufficient studies of Ross Lee Finney and his works in South Korea, so it is expected that studies of will be vitalized in the future.
