지그문트 프로이트의 『꿈의 해석』을 바탕으로 한 무용창작작품 「나무 아래서」에 관한 연구

Abstract

오늘날의 디지털 사회에서는 과학기술의 빠른 발전이 일어나고 있으며, 다양한 분야에서 막대한 양의 정보와 지식이 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 그로 인해 현대인들은 많은 정보들을 수집하려는 집착을 갖고, 이러한 정보들을 습득하는 과정에서 나타나는 타인과의 상대적인 비교로 과거에 꿈꿨던 개인의 소망과 목표는 과도한 경쟁 심리와 우열의 갈등에 의해 좌절하기도 한다. 이에 따라 의식에서 잊힌 소망들은 마음속 무의식의 단계에 자리 잡게 되거나 심리적인 영향을 주어 강박감을 느끼게 하는데 이것은 곧 수면장애를 일으키는 요인으로 이어진다. 잠은 바쁘게 생활하는 현대인들에게 유일하게 피로를 푸는 휴식의 시간이 되기 때문에, 그들은 잠을 자는 동안 머릿속에 나타나는 꿈을 에너지 비축을 위해 깊게 자는 것을 방해하는 부정적 요소로 생각한다. 그러나 프로이트의 정신분석학에서 꿈은 잊어버렸던 개인의 소망이나 목표를 의식의 표면 위로 드러내는 역할을 하며 무의식에 자리 잡아 잊혀 진 소원을, 자는 동안 의식 속으로 직접적 또는 상징적으로 투영시키는 기능을 한다. 본 연구는 프로이트 이론의 근본개념인 무의식 개념 중 꿈을 주제로 안무한 무용창작작품 「나무 아래서」에 대한 분석으로 이루어졌다. 여기서 연구자는 현실에서 외면되어 의식에서 사라진 현대인들의 소망을 꿈을 통해 인지하게 한다. 또한 목표를 다시 찾아 꿈을 향해 나아가는 것이 삶의 새로운 원동력이 될 수 있다는 내용을 바탕으로 꿈에 대한 긍정적인 부분을 알리고자 하였으며 프로이트의 무의식-전의식-의식이라는 심리모델을 설정하여 작품의 내용을 총 3장으로 전개하였다. 1장은 인간이 잠을 이루면서 무의식의 세계로 빠져듦에 따라 진행되는 꿈을 나타내며 꿈의 망각적인 특징을 표현한 장면이다. 이에 비논리적이고 인과관계가 없는, 오브제가 있는 공간을 꿈의 공간으로 설정하고 도입부에는 무의식 상태에서 의식의 끊김과 지속이 반복해 나타나는 꿈의 특징을 표현하기 위해 깜박거리는 조명을 사용하였다. 또한 오브제인 나무를 향해 손을 뻗어 느린 파장을 일으키는 움직임을 전개함으로써 꿈이 갖는 불안정성을 나타내었으며 무의식의 부분을 드러내지 않게 하기 위한 저항이 의식 속에 있음을 무용수의 신체 밀도를 높게 하여 수축하는 움직임을 통해 표현하였다. 이러한 무용수의 움직임은 잠에서 깨어남에 따라 의식이 무의식의 부분을 재빨리 지우고 있음을 상징하는 것으로 꿈의 망각이 서서히 진행되어 가고 있음을 부각시키고자 하였다. 2장은 무의식중에 존재하는 과거의 경험들이 전의식의 과정을 거치면서 압축되어 의식의 표면 위로 나타나는 상태를 묘사하고, 이를 통해 경험의 기억들이 꿈의 자료로 사용되어 여러 차례 꿈을 통해 나타난다는 꿈의 자료적 특징을 표현한 장면이다. 무용수는 오브제를 벗어나 현실로 설정된 공간으로 경로를 이동하여, 다리를 높이 차거나 분절시키는 움직임으로 이완과 수축의 밀도 있는 동작들을 하며 과거의 경험과 기억들이 전의식의 과정을 통해 되살아나고 있음을 상징화하였다. 또한 꿈에서 나타나는 내용은 현실에서 겪었던 과거 경험의 재현이라는 특징을 나타내기 위하여, 현실의 공간으로 제한시켰던 무대 조명을 파란색의 조명을 추가하는 것으로 확대시켰는데 이것은 전의식이 활발하게 작용하며 꿈과 현실의 경계가 모호해지고 있음을 표현한 것이다. 이때 무용수의 동작은 상하수로 가로지르는 공간만을 반복적으로 사용하여, 과거에 반복되었던 기억과 경험이 현실에서 일깨워지고 있음을 드러내고자 하였다. 3장은 과거의 경험이 압축되어 소망의 형태로 의식화됨으로써 가능해지는 꿈의 소망 성취적 특징을 표현하였다. 이때 의식화되는 장소인 확장된 꿈의 공간은 무대 전체로 퍼진 여러 개의 하얀색 파 조명으로 드러내었고, 무용수의 확대된 신체레벨과 역동적인 움직임을 통해서 내면에 잠재되어있던 소망 성취의 욕구가 커지고 있음을 나타내었다. 이후 무용수는 설정된 길 조명 위로 오브제를 향해 걸어가는 의도적 움직임으로 의식에 있던 소원이 점차 무의식세계에 가까워지며, 현실에서 미처 이루어지지 못한 목표와 소망이 무의식 속에서 다시 한 번 이뤄지길 바라는 간절함을 나타내었다. 끝으로 오브제 아래에서 위를 향하는 팔을 뻗치는 무용수의 동작은 무의식중에 갖고 있던 소망과 목표를 현실의 의식의 상태로 끌어올리는 원동력인 인간의 의지를 표현하고자 한 것이다. 결과적으로 본 연구자는 무용창작작품 「나무 아래서」를 통하여 무의식을 드러내는 꿈은 내면의 성찰을 이루고 궁극적인 목표를 인지하게 하는 심상으로서 각박한 현대를 사는 사람들에게 꿈은 가치가 없는 것이 아니라 오히려 성숙한 자아로서의 발전을 이루는 기회로 작용될 수 있다는 점을 전하고자 하였다. ;Today, under the digital society, scientific technology has been developed at a fast pace and in diversified fields, information and knowledge of enormous quantity are pouring out. Under this background, contemporary people try to collect a lot of information and individual desire and goal being dreamed in the past are sometimes frustrated by excessive competition psychology and superiority complex under relative comparison with others being represented in a process of acquiring such information. As such, consciously forgotten desire is settled down in unconsciousness state of mind or arouses a sense of obsession by psychological influence and this leads to a factor of causing sleep disturbance. As sleep is a sole resting time of relax to busy contemporary people, they think dream during sleep as a negative element of interfering deep sleep for reserving energy. However, in psychoanalysis of Freud, dream plays a role of exposing forgotten individual desire or goal on the surface of consciousness and directly or symbolically projecting forgotten desire under unconsciousness into consciousness during sleep. In this study, 'Under the tree', a dance creation work being danced with dream as a theme among unconsciousness concept that is basic concept of Freud theory was analyzed. In this case, the researcher makes contemporary people recognize their desire that is neglected in reality and disappeared from the consciousness through dream. In addition, he tried to address a positive part of dream based on the contents that goal oriented dreaming could become a new motive power of life and developed contents of the works in total 3 chapters by establishing psychological model of unconsciousness-pre-consciousness-consciousness of Freud. Chapter 1 is a scene of expressing dream being progressed as humans are falling into unconscious world while going to sleep and forgetting characteristics of dream. In this scene, a flickering light was used in order to express characteristics of dream in which intermittent consciousness is represented repeatedly under unconscious state in introduction part by establishing an illogical space with objet without causality as a space of dream. In addition, unstability of dream was expressed by showing movement of creating a slow wave by extending hand toward tree that is an objet and that a resistance of concealing unconscious part is present in consciousness was expressed through contracting movement of dancer by increasing physical density. Movement of dancer like this symbolizes that consciousness is promptly removing unconscious part while awakening from sleep and that dream forgetting was progressed slowly was intended to be highlighted. Chapter 2 is a scene that depicted a state of unconsciously existed past experience being represented on the surface of consciousness by passing through a process of preconsciousness and expressed textual characteristics of dream that memories of this experience is used as dream text and repeatedly represented through dream. In order to address this contents, dancer moves to realistic space by breaking away from objet and symbolized that past experience and memory are revived through a process of preconsciousness while doing dense motion of relaxation and contraction by kicking high or segmenting leg. In addition, in order to show that contents in dream is characteristic of representing past experience in reality, stage light limited to realistic space was extended by adding blue colored light in order to express that boundary between dream and reality becomes ambiguous as preconsciousness is activated. At this time, motion of dancer was intended to be exposed so that memory and experience being repeated in the past were awakened in reality by using a space crossing left, right stage. Chapter 3 expressed dream characteristic of achieving desire when past experience was compressed and made as consciousness in a form of desire. At this time, extended space of dream that is a place of consciousness was exposed as several white colored light spread to whole stage and expressed that need of achieving desire being latent in inner consciousness through extended level and dynamic movement of dancer was increased. Afterwards, as desire in unconsciousness was gradually close to conscious world by intended movement moving toward objet by establishing moving path of dancer as road light, that desire achieved in dream was guided to consciousness stage was represented symbolically. Finally, motion of dancer stretching hand from down to up of objet was intended to express human will that is a motive power of pulling unconscious desire and goal to conscious state of reality. Resultantly, this researcher intended to address a message that through 'Under the tree', a dance creation work, dream exposing unconsciousness is a mental imagery of achieving inner self-reflection and making eventual goal to be recognized and to the contemporary people who lead a hard-hearted reality, dream is not worthless but rather acts as an opportunity of achieving mature self development.
