필적을 통한 메모리얼 아이덴티티 디자인 (Memorial Identity Design) 연구

Abstract

글씨는 곧 개인의 아이덴티티(Personal Identity)라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 사람들의 성격과 지문이 모두 다르듯 글씨체 또한 개개인마다 모두 다르기 때문이다. 따라서 우리는 사람들의 글씨체를 통하여 그들의 성격을 해석해 볼 수 있으며, 이것을 필적학(Graphology)라고 한다. 필적학이란, 필적과 성격의 상관관계를 연구하는 학문이다. 필적학에서는 필적을 뇌의 지문이라고 부를 만큼 글씨 안에 개인의 성격과 개성이 담겨 있다고 본다. 필적학이란 말은 프랑스의 J.H 미숑(J.H Mission)이 1875년에 출간한 『필적학의 체계』라는 책에서 처음 사용되었다. 그는 필적을 형태, 크기, 방향, 강도, 속도, 필순, 조화의 일곱 가지 각도에서 특징을 분류하여 각각의 성격의 특성을 합성한 필적 특징으로부터 성격의 특징이 이루어지는 것이라 한다. 필적학 중에서 필적 감정에 관한 분야는 범죄 수사를 맡는 경찰관계에서 연구되며 현재 국립과학수사연구소 내에 문서 감정실을 두고 광범위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그리고 그 감정결과는 법률상 증거 능력이 인정되는 중요한 분야이기도 하다. 본 연구의 목적은 사람의 특징과 개성을 반영하는 글씨를 적용한 아이덴티티 개발을 통해 국내 유명한 작가의 메모리얼 아이덴티티(Memorial Identity)를 구축함으로써, 브랜드에 개인의 성격을 적용하고 차별화 된 아이덴티티를 구축하는 것이다. 예로부터 시인의 자필원고에 남아있는 필체가 시의 내용과 창작시기에 따라 차이가 있는 까닭은 글씨에 작가의 감정이 담기기 때문이다. 따라서 글씨는 글의 내용을 담는 그릇이라는 믿음으로 우리나라의 대표적인 문학자, 윤동주시인이 남긴 자필시고에 남아있는 필체를 토대로 하여 시인의 필체를 아이덴티티로 제작한다. 윤동주는 <서시>, <자화상>, <또 다른 고향>, <별 헤는 밤>, <쉽게 쓰여진 시> 등의 유명 작을 남긴 우리나라의 일제강점기 문학인이다. 연구자는 국내 유명한 시인들 중에서 시인의 문학적 영향, 지명도, 삶과 이미지, 그리고 개성 있는 필체를 고려하여 윤동주시인을 필체의 연구 대상으로 선택하였으며, 윤동주문학관에 대한 정보를 수집하여 아이덴티티 재개발의 필요성을 확인하였다. 『사진판 윤동주 자필 시고 전집』에는 1934년부터 1937년까지 작성된 그의 글들과 자필시고집인 『하늘과 바람과 별과 시』를 포함하여 1권의 산문집이 그의 자필로 수록되어 있기 때문에 이 책을 분석 자료로 사용한다. 또한, 여러 가지 모양의 자필을 발췌하여 그의 필체의 특징 중에 가장 두드러지는 부분을 추출한다. 본 연구자는 논문 작품으로 윤동주시인의 메모리얼 아이덴티티를 개발하고 어플리케이션 디자인으로 확장할 것이다. 결론적으로 본 연구는, 작가의 필적에서 그의 성격이 드러난 특징을 추출하여 그의 개성을 반영한 아이덴티티를 개발함으로써, 메모리얼 아이덴티티에 필적이 개인의 특성을 반영하는 디자인적 요소가 될 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 연구 진행방법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구에 대한 배경과 목적을 제시하고, 둘째, 연구의 주제인 육필복원서체와 맞닿아 있는 이론들을 통해 살펴본다. 셋째, 육필복원사례에서 발견되는 작가와 글씨의 관계를 통해 필적이 작가의 정신을 반영하는 아이덴티티 요소가 될 수 있음을 밝힌다. 넷째, 자필로 만들어진 국내외 메모리얼 아이덴티티의 현황을 문학관과 미술관을 중심으로 조사하여 필체가 유용한 메모리얼 아이덴티티 소재임을 제시한다. 마지막으로, 윤동주시인의 필적에서 특징들을 추출하여 그의 개성이 반영된 메모리얼 아이덴티티를 개발하여 현재 그의 성격이 잘 드러나지 않은 윤동주문학관의 아이덴티티를 리디자인하고 새로운 메모리얼 아이덴티티 개발의 가능성을 제시한다. 2017년은 윤동주시인의 탄생 100주년이 되는 해이다. 윤동주시인 탄생 100주년인 올해에 그의 필적을 토대로 메모리얼 아이덴티티 작업을 완성하게 되어 영광스럽게 생각하며, 차후 윤동주문학관 측에 본 작업을 소개하기 위해 연락을 취할 예정이다.;Generally, the identity design of most of the literature museums in Korea are so poor that they are usually formed with unrelated handwriting fonts just to show the concept of literature. The personality and characteristic of representative writer are not reflected in the outcome of design and the museums contain only a few articles with a small space. What would be the effective way to deeply interact with viewers as a memorial identity? Due to this question, I became interested about one’s own handwriting which contains his personality and characteristics. Therefore I found that it can be a great graphic element to develop memorial identity of literature museum. By going through the study of ‘Graphology(handwriting analysis)’, I have collected ways to analyze one’s own handwritten documents to identify the personality of the writer. The word ‘Graphology’ is derived from ‘grapho-’ which means ‘writing’ in the Greek. Moreover, by comparing the restoration of handwriting of famous writers and commercial handwriting font it became clearer that one’s own handwriting represents personality and even the sentiment of the writer. In order to develop the memorial identity design of ‘Yoon Dong Ju’, the famous writer in Korea, I have extracted his handwritten letters from drafts of poems. Also, 'Typography Development Direction List' was applied to his handwritten letters in order to form visual unity. In conclusion, the identity of Yoon Dong Ju literature museum was redesigned with his handwriting and this fact made an attempt to overcome the prejudice that handwriting is just to express message. The memorial identity design made with handwriting would interact with the viewers who visit the museum delivering the writer’s soul and feelings at the same time. I strongly assist that it is time to raise our interest towards the beauty of Korean typography. Moreover, closer studies on developing identity design using handwriting must continue into the future so that more sympathetic and organized memorial identity design system is established for museums in Korea.
