부모의 헬리콥터 양육이 성인 진입기 여성의 우울에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 아버지와 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육과 기능적 및 역기능적 완벽주의가 성인 진입기 여성의 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 아버지와 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육이 성인 진입기 여성의 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로와 헬리콥터 양육과 우울 간의 관계에서 기능적 완벽주의와 역기능적 완벽주의의 매개적 역할을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 서울 소재 대학에 재학 중인 305명의 성인 진입기 여자 대학생들이며, 질문지법을 사용해 자료를 수집하였다. 헬리콥터 양육은 Leymone와 Buchan (2011)이 개발하고 유계숙(2014)이 번안한 헬리콥터 양육 척도(Helicopter Parenting Scale, [HPS])를 사용하였으며 완벽주의는 다차원적 완벽주의 척도들을 남궁혜정(2002)이 합쳐서 요인분석을 통해 개발 ․ 타당화한 이차원적 완벽주의 척도(Two-dimensional Perfectionism Scale, [TPS])를 사용하여 측정하였다. 우울은 Radloff(1977)의 역학연구센터 우울 척도(The Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale, [CES-D])를 전겸구, 최상진과 양병창(2001)이 번안한 한국판 CES-D 척도를 사용하여 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 19.0 프로그램과 AMOS 22.0 프로그램을 사용하여 Pearson의 적률상관계수분석, 구조방정식모형 분석, 부트스트래핑을 실시하였다. 연구모형에 따른 본 연구의 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저, 헬리콥터 양육, 기능적 완벽주의 및 우울 간의 관계를 살펴본 모형에서 헬리콥터 양육이 성인 진입기 여성의 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로는 어머니의 양육에서만 발견되어, 성인 진입기 여성은 어머니로부터 헬리콥터 양육을 받는다고 지각할수록 높은 수준의 우울을 경험하였다. 그러나 헬리콥터 양육이 기능적 완벽주의에 영향을 미치는 경로가 유의하지 않아 헬리콥터 양육과 우울 간의 관계에서 기능적 완벽주의의 매개효과는 발견되지 않았다. 다음으로, 헬리콥터 양육, 역기능적 완벽주의 및 우울 간의 관계를 살펴본 모형에서, 역기능적 완벽주의는 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육과 성인 진입기 여성의 우울 간의 관계를 완전매개하였다. 즉, 성인 진입기 여성은 어머니로부터 헬리콥터 양육을 받는다고 지각할수록 역기능적 완벽주의 성향을 보였으며 이러한 역기능적 완벽주의 성향은 우울을 예측하였다. 그러나 아버지의 헬리콥터 양육, 역기능적 완벽주의 및 우울 간의 경로는 유의하지 않았다. 본 연구는 아버지와 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육이 성인 진입기 여성의 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로가 매개변인인 기능적 완벽주의와 역기능적 완벽주의에 따라 다르게 나타남을 확인하였다. 또한 아버지와 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육을 동시에 고려할 때 어머니의 헬리콥터 양육에서만 완벽주의와 우울에 영향을 미치는 경로가 발견됨으로써 주 양육자로서 어머니의 상대적 영향력을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 비교적 초기단계인 헬리콥터 양육과 완벽주의의 후속 연구를 위한 학문적 기초자료를 제공하였으며, 성인 진입기 여성의 우울을 예방하거나 치료하기 위한 자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 실용적 의의가 있다.;The purpose of the study was to examine the relations of paternal and maternal helicopter parenting to depression among females in emerging adulthood including mediating roles of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism. Participants in this study were 305 females in emerging adulthood who were attending colleges in Seoul. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires, which included items related to helicopter parenting(Helicopter Parenting Scale, [HPS]), perfectionism (Two-dimensional Perfectionism Scale, [TPS]), and depression (The Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale, [CES-D]). Data were analyzed by correlation and structural equation model(SEM) using SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 22.0. The main results of this study were as follows. First, for mediating role of adaptive perfectionism, maternal helicopter parenting had effects on depression among females in emerging adulthood. Females in emerging adulthood who experienced maternal helicopter parenting showed higher level of depression. However, adaptive perfectionism didn’t play a mediating role in the relations between maternal helicopter parenting and depression. Second, for mediating role of maladaptive perfectionism, maladaptive perfectionism played a mediating role in the relations between maternal helicopter parenting and depression. Females in emerging adulthood who experienced maternal helicopter parenting showed maladaptive perfectionism, and maladaptive perfectionism contributes to depression. However, maladaptive perfectionism didn’t play a mediating role between paternal helicopter parenting and depression. In conclusion, this study underscores the importance of maladaptive perfectionism as a mediator between maternal helicopter parenting and depression among females in emerging adulthood and it is noticeable that there were differences in mediating roles of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism. In addition, this study confirmed that females in emerging adulthood were significantly affected by maternal helicopter parenting considering both paternal and maternal effects. These findings have implications for the future research and practices by emphasizing the importance of helicopter parenting and maladaptive perfectionism in designing programs for reducing depression among females in emerging adulthood.
