Abstract
[Introduction] Purpose: To engage in an interactive communication text and activity for learners of English. Rationale: The purpose of language is communication. Therefore, only when language learners communicate in the language they are learning, they can improve their proficiency. Target learners: Young moms who have their own child or women of similar age Proficiency: Intermediate low to mid according to the ACTFL Learning context: an English class at a private language institute for self-improvement [Method] Task-based Activities: In order to become proficient, the English learners need to use creative and critical thinking in English. The decision-making and problem-solving tasks will encourage learners to overcome their limited oral skills and truly express themselves in English. Theme-based Instruction: In this instruction, emphasis is put on the lesson content, which can serve the various interests of students. This method is practical and promotes effective language learning. [Expected Outcomes and Conclusion] Students will be familiar with cooperative learning approach and lead to active participation. Students will make use of contextual clues to infer meanings of unfamiliar words from context. Students will be able to use communication strategies to participate in group and class discussions. Students will able to distinguish appropriate vocabulary and correct word forms.
