아동기 후기의 단짝 친구관계 질이 외로움에 미치는 영향

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Friendship Quality among best friends and Self-Esteem on Loneliness which were specially perceived by late Childhood students. A total of 293 elementary school students (138 females and 154 males) living in Pohang responded to questionnaires, which included items related to friendship quality among best friends, self-esteem, and loneliness. The data was analyzed by t-test, correlation analysis and regression analysis with mediation effects using software SPSS 21.0. The Primary results of this study were as follows: Firstly, the late childhood students' friendship quality among best friends was correlated with their self-esteem and loneliness. It was suggested that the children with a high level of friendship quality among best friends had higher self-esteem and experienced less loneliness than children with a low level of friendship quality among best friends. In the Second, boys and girls in their late childhood's self-esteem were fully mediated in the relation between positive sub factors of friendship quality among best friends and emotional loneliness. Furthermore, boys and girls in their late childhood's self-esteem were partially mediated in the relation between positive sub factors of friendship quality among best friends and social loneliness. According to the gender difference, girls' friendship quality among best friends had much direct effects on social loneliness compared to boys'. On the other hand, boys' friendship quality among best friends had much mediated effects by self-esteem compared to girls'. This study results may provide some important suggestions for the problems which are related to loneliness of late childhood students by increasing the multiple aspects of understanding children's friendship quality among their best friends and self-esteem.;본 연구의 목적은 아동기 후기의 단짝 친구와의 친구관계 질과 외로움 간의 관계를 자아존중감이 매개하는지, 그것이 성에 따라 어떤 양상을 보이는지를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 경상북도 포항시에 소재한 초등학교 5, 6학년생 300명을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 단짝 친구와의 친구관계 질은 이은해와 고윤주(1999)가 개발한 우정의 질 척도를 사용하였으며, 외로움은 Russell 등(1978)이 제작하고 이후 수정 및 축약되어 타당화된 UCLA Loneliness Scale: Ver. 3을 사용하였으며 그 번안은 김옥수(1997)의 것을 따랐다. 또한 아동의 자아존중감 수준을 측정하기 위해 Rosenberg(1965) 등이 제작한 Self-Esteem Scale(SES)을 김연희(2005)가 번안한 자아존중감 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0 프로그램을 사용하여 변인들의 경향을 살핀 후, 변인들 간의 상관관계를 산출하고, Baron&Kenny(1986)의 3단계 접근모델에 근거하여 단순 및 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 본 연구에서는 아동기 후기의 단짝 친구와의 친구관계 질과 외로움 간의 관계를 밝힐 수 있었으며, 그 과정에서 자아존중감이 매개하는 것을 확인하였다. 즉, '갈등'과 '경쟁'을 제외한 아동의 단짝 친구와의 친구관계 질이 높을수록 자아존중감이 증가하며, 이로 인해 외로움의 수준이 감소하는 것으로 드러났다. 단짝 친구관계 질과 외로움 간의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개적 효과를 아동의 외로움의 하위요인 별로 살펴본 결과, 자아존중감은 아동의 단짝 친구관계 질의 하위요인 중 '신뢰', '도움', '인정', '교제의 즐거움', '만족감'요인과 정서적 외로움 간의 관계를 완전 매개하였으며, 아동의 단짝 친구관계 질의 하위요인 중 '정서적 안정', '신뢰', '도움', '친밀감', '인정', '교제의 즐거움'요인과 사회적 외로움 간의 관계를 부분 매개하였다. 아동의 단짝 친구관계 질과 자아존중감이 사회적 외로움에 미치는 영향을 성에 따라 살펴본 결과, 여아의 단짝 친구관계 질이 사회적 외로움에 미치는 직접효과가 남아의 그것보다 큰 반면, 남아의 단짝 친구관계 질이 사회적 외로움에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 자아존중감의 매개효과가 여아의 그것보다 높았다. 본 연구는 교육 및 임상환경에서 아동기 후기가 지니는 외로움의 양상을 구체적으로 확인하고, 남아와 여아의 단짝 친구관계 질과 자아존중감을 고려하여 아동의 현재의 적응과 미래의 적응 및 발달에 도움이 되는 방안을 마련하는데 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.
