François Borne의 Carmen Fantasy for Flute and Piano에 대한 분석 연구

Abstract

This thesis deals with Carmen Fantasy by François Borne (1840-1920) who arranged Carmen by a French composer Georges Bizet (1838-1875) for an instrumental piece for Flute and Piano. The purpose of the article is to help players understand and play more profoundly by reviewing how theme melodies in the original piece are reconfigured for Flute by comparing melodies for piano accompaniment and vocal with those for flute. Carmen is a novel written by a French writer Mérimée (1803-1870) published in 1845. Bizet composed an Opera based on the original novel and published in 1874. It was first performed in Opera Comique Theater in Paris in 1875. The original novel was ignored by critics at that time but it became renowned with the success of Bizet’s Opera. Both of Opera <Carmen> and Carmen Fantasy for flute and piano by Borne consist of 3 parts A, B and C (finale). Part A is divided into Preface, Bridge and Closing, and a chorus by female workers in cigarette factory, prelude, scena and vocal ensemble are played in this part. In B, Havanera and it variation I and II are performed. C is Finale and Gypsy Airs and Toreador Song are included in this part. Carmen Fantasy for flute and piano by Borne is arranged according to the full composition of the original note by showing sensational and tragic ending of Opera <Carmen> using beautiful tune of flute with various rhythms artfully and splendidly. It is hoped that this article may help players to understand how theme melodies in Opera <Carmen> are reconfigured for flute in Carmen Fantasy for flute and piano by Borne.;본 논문은 프랑스의 작곡가인 조르주 비제(Georges Bizet,1838-1875)의 오페라 작품 중 <Carmen>을 이용하여 플루트를 위한 곡으로 작곡한 프랑수아 보네(François Borne,1840-1920)의 Flute과 Piano를 위한 Carmen Fantasy를 연구 대상으로 Flute과 Piano를 위한 Carmen Fantasy의 악보를 사용함으로 인해 비제의 오페라<Carmen>의 피아노 반주가 있는 악보를 통해 피아노 반주, 성악의 멜로디와 플루트의 멜로디를 비교하여 원곡의 주제 선율들이 플루트를 통해 어떻게 재구성 되었는지 살펴봄으로 보다 더 깊이 있게 이해하고 연주하는 것에 도움이 되고자 하는 것을 목적으로 분석 연구 하였다. 오페라 <Carmen>은 프랑스의 작가 프로스페르 메리메(Prosper Mérimée,1803-1870)의 원작 소설 'Carmen'으로 1845년에 발표 되었는데 이 소설을 비제가 1874년도에 오페라로 작곡하여 1875년에 파리의 오페라 코미크 극장에서 초연되었다. 원작소설은 당시 비평가들에게 묵살 당해온 불운한 작품이었는데 원작 작가인 메리메가 죽은 후 비제가 가극화하여 오페라가 탄생되고 오페라가 성공하여 원작의 진가도 널리 인정받게 되었다. 극과 음악이 잘 융합된 작품인 오페라<Carmen> 또한 보네의 flute과 piano를 위한 Carmen Fantasy는 A, B와 C(Final)의 3부분으로 구성되어 있으며 오페라의 제1막의 전주곡(Prelude), 4장 담배공장 여공들의 합창(Choeur de cigarières), 5장 하바네라(Habanera), 6장 극창(Scene), 14장 중창(Duo), 제2막의 12장 집시의 노래(Chanson de Bohème) 와 14장 투우사의 노래(Couplet)를 극의 순서에 상관없이 A부분에서는 서주부, 간주부와 종결부로 나누어지고 이 부분에서 담배공장 여공들의 합창, 전주곡과 극창, 중창이 나온다. B에서는 하바네라와 이를 주제로 VariationⅠ,Ⅱ가 나오고 C는 Finale로 집시의 노래와 투우사의 노래가 나왔다. 보네의 Flute과 Piano를 위한 Carmen Fantasy는 오페라 <Carmen>의 자극적이고 비극적인 결말의 주제 선율과 성악 선율을 바탕으로 플루트를 통해 다양한 리듬으로 기교적이고 화려하게 담아내어 원곡의 꽉 찬 구성에 걸맞게 편곡 되었다. 본 논문을 통하여 오페라 <Carmen> 원곡의 주제 선율들이 보네의 Flute과 Piano를 위한 Carmen Fantasy에서 어떻게 재구성 되었는지 살펴봄으로서 보다 더 깊이 있게 이해하고 연주하는 것에 도움이 되길 바란다.
