dc.description.abstract | Most reading lessons in Korean English classrooms focus on intensive reading in which teachers help their students to practice reading short texts and answering multiple choice questions. This has been an important part of the English education curriculum in Korea because most classrooms focus on test taking preparations in order to help students prepare for the college entrance examination. As a result, many students do not have an opportunity to receive a well-balanced English language education as most of their attention is given to grammar and test taking preparations. As a result, their English language skills do not usually improve beyond test taking strategies. This portfolio attempts to respond to this need by offering an extensive reading (ER) program in which students read interesting books and engage in meaningful activities to help them to develop all four of the language skills. | - |
