한국 텔레비전 드라마의 시간여행 모티프 연구

Abstract

본고에서는 포스트모더니즘의 주요 미학으로서 환상성이 대두되고 있다고 보고, 한국의 시간여행 모티프 드라마에 나타나는 환상성을 분석해 보았다. 이를 위해 먼저 인물과 배경 분석을 위하여 노스롭 프라이가 신화에서 아이러니 양식에 이르기까지 인물 유형을 정리한 이론과 톨킨의 1차 세계, 2차 세계 개념을 사용하여 각 작품을 분석하였다. 그 결과 네 편의 드라마는 각각 1차 세계의 로맨스 양식, 자연적 2차 세계의 상위모방 양식, 초자연적 2차 세계의 하위모방 양식, 1차 세계의 하위모방 양식으로 분류되며 인물의 환상성과 배경의 환상성이 서로 다른 네 개의 조합을 이루고 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 이러한 환상성은 전형적인 장르서사인 연애서사, 역사서사, 추리서사, 무협서사와 결합하여 환상적 연애서사, 환상적 역사서사, 환상적 무협서사, 환상적 추리서사로 나아가고 있다. 시간여행 모티프 드라마는 환상과 현실의 구분을 모호하게 하면서 인물의 환상성과 배경의 환상성을 드러낸다. 인물의 환상성은 로맨스양식과 상위모방양식 하위모방양식 세 가지로 나타난다. 인물의 환상성은 <옥탑방 왕세자>와 <인현왕후의 남자>에서 전면적으로 활용하고 있는 방식이다. <인현왕후의 남자>는 초인적인 능력을 가지고 환경의 제약을 뛰어넘는 로맨스의 주인공 김붕도를 통해서 환상성을 실현하고 있다. 한편, <옥탑방 왕세자>는 현대를 주요 배경으로 하여 과거에서 이동한 왕세자 이각이 살인사건을 추적하는 이야기로, 현대라는 공간 속에서 하위모방 양식의 평범한 주인공을 내세웠다는 점에서 인물의 환상성이라기 보다는 오히려 시간여행이라는 사건의 환상성에 기대는 측면이 크다고 할 수 있다. 한편, 배경의 환상성에 의존하고 있는 작품으로는 <신의>와 <닥터 진>을 들 수 있다. 두 작품은 모두 과거의 역사시대를 2차 세계로 환상화 함으로써 환상성을 실현하고 있다. 이로 인해 역사 서사는 그 자체로 환상적인 서사가 되며, 사실과 실재의 층위에서 이탈하게 된다. 시간여행 모티프 드라마는 환상적인 인물을 '타자'로 묘사함으로써 인물과 시대 간의 이질성을 강조하고 있다. 이를 통해 환상성을 달성하고 있으며 이러한 환상성이 극의 갈등을 이끌어가면서 재미 요소로 작용하고 있다. 또한 배경의 환상성은 시간의 왜곡과 공간의 중첩으로 나타난다. 시간여행 모티프 드라마에서는 선형적 시간관을 무너뜨림에 따라 멈춰진 시간, 즉 ‘순간’에 주목하고, 시간의 흐름보다는 인물이 이동한 공간을 바탕으로 서사가 이루어지는 특징을 보인다. 즉, 시간은 파편적이고 분절적인 형식으로 나타나고 있으며 서로 다른 공간이 중첩됨에 따라서 배경의 환상성이 극대화되고 있다. 또한, 현대의 인물이 과거로 이동한 <신의>와 <닥터진>은 현대인의 시각에서 과거의 역사를 바라보는 시점을 제공하고, 과거의 인물이 현대로 이동한 <옥탑방 왕세자>와 <인현왕후의 남자>는 과거 시대의 인물의 시각에서 현대를 바라보게 되는 시점을 제공하는 효과를 갖게 된다. 시간여행 모티프 서사는 필연적으로 두 개의 세계를 포함하고 있으며, 그로 인해 복수의 서사를 내포하게 된다. 시간여행 모티프를 매개로 하여 중심서사와 주변서사가 융합되고, 환상적 서사와 여타의 장르서사가 혼합되면서 탈장르적인 서사로 나아가고 있다.;I analyzed a fantasy which appears in Korea's time travel Motif drama. For this, firstly I analyzed each work by using theory which Northrop Frye arranged a type of person from the myth to ironic mode for analyzing the person and background and concept of Tolkien's first and second world. As a result, each of those four drama confirmed that sorted as romance mode of the first world, high mimic mode of the natural second world, low mimic mode of the supernatural second world and low mimic mode of the first world and exist four different combination between fantasy of person and background. And these fantasy goes to fantastic love narrative, fantastic historical narrative, fantastic heroism narrative and fantastic detective narrative combined with love narrative, historical narrative, detective narrative and heroism narrative which are typical genre. Time travel Motif drama reveal the fantasy of person and background by obscuring between fantasy and reality. Fantasy of person appears as three kinds of mode which are romance, high mimic and low mimic. Fantasy of person is general using method in <Crown prince of rooftop house> and <Man of Queen In-Hyun>. <Man of Queen In-Hyun> realize a fantasy throughout heroine of romance Kim Bung Do who has superpower overcome limitation of environment. Meanwhile, <Crown prince of rooftop house> which is story that crown prince Lee-Gak from the past detect a murder case has much expectation of fantasy of time travel rather than fantasy of person in a regard of showing off the ordinary heroine in a space of modern times. On the other hand, <Faith> and <Doctor. Jin> are depend on fantasy of background. These two works realize a fantasy by fantasize whole past era of history to second world. Because of this, historical narrative become a fantastic narrative by itself and make excursion from fact and layer of actual. Time travel drama emphasize difference between person and era by describing fantastic person to 'other man'. From this, fantasy becoming accomplished and these fantasy is working as fun factor during lead up the conflict of this play. Furthermore, fantasy of background appears as distortion of time and reiteration of space. Time travel Motif drama pay attention to 'Moment' which is stopped time by collapse of linear time and show the character that narrative becoming accomplished basis to space which peson move rather than flow of time. In other words, the time appears as a form which is scrappy and segmental and fantasy of background become a maximizing by reiteration of time. Also, <Faith> and <Doctor. Jin> which modern person moved to past are present point of view which from the modern person to history of the past and <Crown prince of rooftop house> and <Man of Queen In-Hyun> which person of the past moved to present day are present point of view which from person of the past to present. Time travel Motif narrative contained two types of world essentially and also narrative of revenge. Main narrative and sub narrative blend by time travel Motif and mixing of fantastic narrative and other genre narrative goes to genre deconstruction narrative.
