Abstract
The genetic relationship of 7 mung beans including bruchid-resistant cultivars Jangan (Suwon28), V2709 and TC1966 was analyzed by amplified fragments length polymorphism (AFLP). The amplification reaction with 3 AFLP primer combinations resulted in the reproducible fingerprints of 454 fragments in the size range of 100 ∼ 500 bp and 308 (67.8%) of these were polymorphic. The genetic similarity (GS) between individual AFLP profiles, calculated by Dice coefficient, ranged from 0.61 to 0.97. Cluster analysis of AFLP data revealed 2 major groups, TC1966 and Korean mung bean group containing parental and breeding lines. The Korean mung bean group was distinguished by 3 subgroups, V2709 on a resistant paternal group, Jeonnam4 / Seonhwa on a susceptible maternal group and Jangan / Suwon29 / Suwon30 on a resistant breeding group. The results based on mitochondrial DNA gene sequencing and AFLP analysis demonstrated the differences in bruchid-resistant genotypes between V2709 and TC1966.
