Abstract
Two independent energy transfer mechanisms through electric multipole interactions between donor and acceptor ions have been found in BaAl12O19 : Ce0.06 3+ + Eux 2+ phosphor. The first energy transfer takes place between the Ce3+ ion and the Eu2+ ion which strongly depends on the concentration of Eu2+ ions. The second energy transfer occurs between the Ce3+ ion and the Ce3+-OMe complexes. Both energy transfer mechanisms were explained in terms of combined electric multipole interactions. © 2001 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
