나비 날개의 마이크로 이미지(Micro Image)를 응용한 플라스틱 재활용 패션디자인

Abstract

산업혁명 이후에 발전된 대량생산 시스템은 우리의 생활을 편리하게 해주었지만 막대한 양의 쓰레기를 방출하는 것이 원인이 되었다. 따라서 최근에는 폐기물을 재활용하기 위한 재활용 디자인이 지속적으로 발전하고 있으며 표현방법 또한 다양해지고 있다. 많은 예술가들이 환경의식에 경각심을 주고자 폐기물을 재활용하여 예술 작품으로 재탄생시키고 있으며 이러한 재활용 아트는 더욱 발전해 가고 있다. 또한 이런 재활용작품들은 환경 문제에 대한 심각성뿐만 아니라 폐기물 안에서 새로운 아름다움을 발견하게 해주고 있으므로 앞으로도 환경에 대한 관심이 많아지고 자원의 고갈도 심각해짐에 따라 재활용에 대한 관심이 더 집중 될 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이런 폐기물 중 하나인 폐플라스틱소재를 활용하여 나비 날개의 마이크로 이미지를 패션디자인에 응용하고자 하였다. 다양한 모양의 작은 단위형태가 반복, 중첩되는 나비날개 마이크로 이미지를 표현함에 있어서 단위형태를 재활용 플라스틱 페트를 시퀸으로 제작하고 단순한 실루엣의 의상에 부착하여 작품을 제작하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 재활용 플라스틱을 활용하여 나비날개 마이크로 이미지의 독특한 재질감을 응용한 작품을 제작함으로써 패션디자인 표현영역을 확대하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법으로는 나비와 나비날개의 마이크로 이미지에 나타난 특징과 조형적 특성에 대해 문헌 자료와 선행 연구들을 고찰하고 조형성을 분석한 후 나비이미지를 응용한 현대 패션디자인의 사례를 표현방법으로 분류하여 살펴본다. 그리고 재활용 플라스틱의 개념과 의의에 대해 알아보고 예술, 디자인, 현대 패션디자인에 응용된 사례들을 인터넷 검색, 문헌자료 조사 등을 통해 알아본다. 이를 토대로 나비날개의 마이크로 이미지를 응용한 다양한 형태의 모티프로 디자인하고 이를 재활용 플라스틱을 재가공하여 시퀸으로 만들어 의상에 적용한다. 작품은 총 6점으로 구성하였으며 롱베스트 1점, 반코트 1점, 원피스 4점으로 6점의 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 나비날개의 마이크로 이미지에 나타난 비늘은 특수한 광택의 재질감을 지니고 있다. 이러한 나비날개의 질감을 작품을 표현함에 있어서 사포로 가공한 폐플라스틱 시퀸의 단위형태를 비늘구조로 중첩시켜 배열한 결과 빛에 의한 반사효과에 의해 독특한 광택 질감이 형성됨을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 작품의 소재에 있어서 재활용 플라스틱인 페트(PET)는 얇고 가벼우며 자르기 쉬운 특징을 지니고 있어서 나비날개의 마이크로 이미지에 나타난 비늘 형태의 조형성을 표현하기에 적합하였다. 셋째, 작품의 표현기법은 시퀸 장식기법을 사용하였으며 이로 인해 나비 날개의 나노구조에서 보여지는 단위형태의 중첩에 의한 요철효과로 풍부한 질감이 시각적으로 잘 표현됨을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 작품의 색채에 있어서 나비의 다채로운 색채를 배제하고 블랙과 화이트의 명도 대비효과를 극대화시킴으로서 나비 날개의 마이크로 이미지에서 보여지는 질감과 형태미를 부각시킬 수 있었다. 반투명한 화이트 시퀸은 모티프가 중첩될수록 더욱 흰색으로 보이고 검정색과 선명한 명도대비를 보여줌을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 재활용 플라스틱 소재를 시퀸 장식기법으로 나비날개의 마이크로 이미지에 보여지는 조형적인 단위형태를 디자인에 적용하고 나비의 아름다움을 표현하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 새로운 단위형태를 모티프로 나비 날개를 표현할 수 있었고 재활용 플라스틱을 사용함으로써 그 의미를 더욱 극대화할 수 있었다. 페트소재가 가볍지만 많은 단위형태로 시퀸 장식을 할 경우 무게가 무거워지는 점과 색을 표현하는 부분에 있어서 한계가 있었으므로 추후 이러한 점이 보완된 장식기법과 표현방법 개발에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 주변에 버려지는 자원을 패션디자인에 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 보여줌으로써 향후 환경을 고려하는 윤리적 디자인의 다양한 개발 방향을 제시하는데 의의가 있다.;Mass production system developed after the Industrial Revolution provided us convenience of life, while it became the main reason for an enormous amount of waste discharge. Therefore, recently, recycling design for recycling wastes continued to develop and also the expression methods were diversified. To give the awareness around the environmental consciousness, many artists recreate them wastes toward an art of work by recycling them and in this way, recycling art keeps developing. In addition, since such recycling works allow us to find not only seriousness to environmental issues but also a new beauty in wastes, it is expected that concerns about environment are increasing in the future and more interest will be focused in recycling according to the serious problem of depletion of resources. Accordingly, the present study applied the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings to fashion design by using wasted plastic materials, one of such wastes. In expressing an image with a butterfly’s wings in which the small unit forms of various shapes are recurring and overlapped, it made recycled plastic PET toward a sequin for a unit form and produced a work by attaching it to a simple silhouette's clothing. The purpose of this project was to contribute to expanding the realm of fashion design expression through using recycled plastic and producing a work by applying the unique texture with the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings. With respect to the method and contents of the present study, it investigated literature data and prior research over features and formative Characteristics expressed in the images of a butterfly and a butterfly’s wings and analyzed the formativeness, and then, classified examples of modern fashion design having applied a butterfly image on the basis of expression method and examined them. What’s more, it looked at the concept and meaning of recycled plastic, and observed examples having been applied to art, design and modern fashion design through Internet and literature data. Based on those, it designed with various forms of motives applied the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings and processed recycled place to make a sequin and then, applied it to clothes. It consisted of a total of 6 works including 1 long vest, a half-length coat and 4 one-piece. The results obtained through this research project as follow. Firstly, scales shown in the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings had a special polished texture. It has been identified that in expressing such texture of a butterfly’s wings, a unique polished texture was formed by the reflex effect of light for which the unit form of wasted plastic sequin processed by a sand paper is overlapped with scale structure. Secondly, regarding the work’s material, since PET as recycled plastic is thin and light so easy to cut, it was appropriate to express the formativeness of scale form shown in the image of a butterfly’s wings. Thirdly, as for expression technique of the work, it used sequin decoration technique and in doing so, it was able to know that raggedness effect through being overlapped of a unit form shown in the nanostructure of a butterfly’s wings well expressed and visualized abundant textures. Fourthly, as for the work’s color, it excluded a butterfly’s varied colors, but instead maximized the brightness contrast effect of black and white so that it could point out texture and physical beauty shown in the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings. The more overlapped with motif, the more the translucent white sequin looked white, and it showed clear lightness contrast to black. The present study aimed at expressing the beauty of a butterfly by applying formative unit form to shown in the micro-image of a butterfly’s wings to design with recycled plastic materials and sequin decoration technique. Through this, it was able to not only express a butterfly’s wings with the motif of a new unit form, but maximize the meaning by using recycled plastic. Even though PET material is light, in case of trying sequin decoration in many unit forms, it becomes heavy and difficult to display colors, and thus, future study will have to perform in supplemented decoration techniques and expression methods. This research project has a meaning in that it displayed a possibility to apply wasted resources to fashion design and presented a direction for the development of ethical design considering environment.
