공간 구성을 통한 융합공예디자인의 조형성 연구

Abstract

예술에 있어서 공간은 역사적·미학적으로 상당한 가치를 가지고 인간과 불가분의 관계를 가져왔다. 여러 관점에서 다양하게 해석되는 공간은 방대한 소재가 되어 예술을 표현해왔다. 공간은 시간의 흐름 속에 인간과 공존해왔다. 하루라는 작은 시간 단위 안에서도 인간이 경험하는 공간은 무수히 많다. 공간은 무의식중에도 큰 비중을 차지하며 존재하는데 집안의 작은 내부 공간들과 밖으로 나왔을 때 보이는 수많은 건축 공간 및 도시 공간들은 가까이에서 인간이 경험하는 공간의 대표적인 예이다. 실제로 인간이 경험하고 느끼는 공간을 실제적 공간이라 말하며 심적으로 공간감을 느끼는 공간에 대하여 심리적 공간으로 설명할 수 있다. 이처럼 인간은 실제적 공간에 대한 자신의 경험을 토대로 심리적으로 공간감을 가지게 되는 것이다. 연구자는 건축 공간에 대하여 관심을 가져왔다. 연구자가 경험하고 인식한 건축 공간의 모습은 하나의 큰 육면체 안에서 반복적으로 중첩되는 선에 의해 면이 분할되고 결합하여 기하학적인 입체도형으로 표현되는 것이었다. 마치 그리드 회화인 <피이트 몬드리안>의 <구성>과 같은 추상과 무한의 공간속에 놓인 현대적인 건축의 모습이었다. <피이트 몬드리안>의 <구성>을 통하여 연구자는 공간을 단면적으로 제도하는 건축 설계 도면의 형태를 떠올렸다. 2차원적 평면 안에서 점과 면이 교차로 표현되는 설계 도안은 공간의 형태를 구성하는데 기초적인 역할로 작용하며 균형감을 갖는 조형성을 가진다. 본 연구에서는 연구자의 심리적 공간감을 물리적으로 시각화하고 건축 공간을 구조적으로 구성하여 공간의 조형미를 표현할 수 있는 작품을 제작 연구하고자 한다. 공간의 조형성에 대하여 알아보기 위해서 이론적으로 공간의 개념과 공간을 구성하는 조형 요소를 알아보고 신조형주의인 <피이트 몬드리안>의 작품을 통하여 평면이 아닌 공간상의 구성에 대하여 알아본다. 작품 제작에는 금속소재와 섬유소재의 융합으로 융합공예디자인이 주는 가치에 대하여 알아보고자 한다. 금속과 섬유 각 소재가 가지는 재질적 특성과 기술적 방법에 대하여 이론적으로 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 작품 안에서 주제가 표현될 수 있도록 실험 제작 연구한다. 작품은 총 17점으로 제작하였으며 이를 7개의 그룹으로 분류하여 구성하였다. 형태를 구성하는 금속은 강도 면에서 내구성이 우수한 황동으로 제작하였으며 공간을 구조화하는 육면체의 형태적 특징을 표현하기에 적합하였다. 공간을 구성하는 조형요소인 점과 면을 시각적으로 표현하기 위해서 타공된 황동판과 타공되지 않은 황동판을 사용하였다. 섬유는 금속사로 직조된 메시와 금속와이어인 은선과 에나멜동선을 사용하였다. 투영성을 가지는 메시와 박음질 기법으로 표현한 은선과 에나멜동선은 일정하게 타공된 면을 분할하여 균형 있게 조형성을 표현하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구를 통하여 연구자는 공간의 조형성을 시각화하여 독자적인 조형미를 표현하려 하였으며 금속과 금속직물과의 소재융합연구를 통하여 융합공예디자인을 새로운 예술 분야의 지향 점으로 제시하였다. 다양성을 요구하는 현 시점에서 다양한 소재간의 융합은 무한한 가능성을 보여주고 있으며 새로운 시각으로 현대적인 융합공예디자인의 나아갈 방향을 제시하고자 한다.;In art, the space has inseparable relationship with human while obtaining its historical value. As the space has been diversely analyzed in various perspective, it became vast material and expressing art. The spaces that a man experiences in a day, which is a small unit of time, are beyond count. The space takes the great importance in subconscious. Numerous architectural spaces and city spaces outside of the small spaces at home are the examples of the spaces that a man experiences at its closest. The space that a man experiences and feel is called actual space. The space that one feels emotionally can be explained as a psychological space. In other words, humans have their own psychological spaces based on their experiences of the actual space. I always had an interest in architectural spaces. The image of architectural space that I have experienced and recognized is expressed in geometrical 3-dimensional figure by crossing and combining the plane with repeatedly overlapped lines within a large cube. This image of modern architecture shares the similarity with the <Composition> by <Piet Mondrian> as this grid painting lies within the space of abstract and infinity. Through the <Composition> by <Piet Mondrian> reminds one of the shape of architectural design drawing that draws the space in cross sectional ways. In 2D plane, the points and the planes are crossed on the architectural design. It functions as the basis to form the shape of space and has the formativeness with balance. This study is to produce the works that can express the aesthetic value of the space by physically visualizing the psychological space and structurally composing the architectural spaces. The concept of the space and the formative elements that are composing the space are theoretically studied along with the composition on the space that is not on the plane through the Neo-Plasticism work of <Piet Mondrian> in order to study the forms of the spaces. The value given by the convergence craft design by converging the metal material and the fiber material to produce the craftworks is studied. The research is done based on the material characteristics of metal and fiber are theoretically analyzed with the technical method to express the theme on the works. Total of 17 works are produced and they are classified into 7 groups. Brass is used for the metal parts to structure the shape due to its excellent hardness and it was the appropriate material to structuralize the characteristics of the shape formed with cubical space. The perforated brass plate and the regular brass plate are used in order to visually express the point and the plane, the formative element to compose the space. For the fiber material, the mesh weaved with metal yarn and the metal wire such as, the silver wire and the copper wire are used. The mesh with projection and the silver and copper wire shows the backstitch technique divide the evenly perforated plane expressing the harmony and formativeness. In conclusion, the new formative aesthetic is expressed by visualizing the formativeness of the space and proposing convergence craft design as a value orientation of new field of art through convergence study with the new materials. The convergence of various materials shows infinite possibility since diversity is required in many areas nowadays and it suggests the way to advance the modern convergence craft design in new perspective.
