영화 표현양식이 공적 토론에 미치는 영향

Abstract

In Korean society, the 'social chastisement movies' which deal with the social problems have very many implications. The 'social chastisement movies' covering a wide range of genres like documentaries, factions, and real stories are also called as 'movie journalism', and have a complementary relationship with the journalism. The social chastisement movies reveal another facet of issues that were already known and also social events not receiving proper interests. The social chastisement movies examine incidents covered from the view of the existing journalism like newspapers, and newscasts, so consequently try to deliver not only concrete information, but also the emotions of victims and surrounding people. The primary purpose of the social chastisement movies is the accusation of social inconsistencies. And the alternatives for the contradictions are showed up in responses of the public. Thus, someone who complete the meaning of the social chastisement movies are audiences. If the audiences seeing the movies just talk about movies in the context of simple impressions, these audiences just remain as simple spectators. However, if audiences seeing the movie officially discuss about the social events appeared in the movie having the link with the other audiences, at last the real meaning of the social chastisement movie comes up. Online spaces are very important as a place for having link with the other audiences. It's because the online spaces are accessible and are the places where people can debate equally irrespective of their social positions. From the early, the spaces where debates are activated have been called 'public sphere' and have been a medium for an exchange of ideas. The discussions done in physical spaces like cafe and salon transfer to the online spaces because of the media development. Among many online spaces, we can point out 'blog' as a space where debates about movies are most activated. This study starts with the intention of trying to prove cinema spheres based on the theory about the sphere of Habermas. The preceding researches on spheres are limited on the political sphere. However, in this research, we analyzed the sphere prompted by the social chastisement movies and as a result, tried to demonstrate the possibility of the sphere. For this, we conducted the analysis of contents targeting 600 discussions in blogs about 'Dogani', 'Sowon', 'Hangongju', which treated the sexual violence. Based on the analysis, we focused on investigating the subjects like the following. First, look how publicity appears in the sphere provoked by the movie. Second, look whether audiences operate active reading in seeing the movie. Third, look whether the audiences participate socially through the process of enhancing publicity. Fourth, look the aspect of rationality in the discussion about the movie. Although the preceding researches about movies and spheres were limited in the qualitative research, this research conducted the quantitative research to overcome this limitations. Also it has a meaning in that this study organized the basic elements the cinema sphere has to have. The result of this research is as following. First, the discussions prompted by the cinema had official contents. Second, the audiences did not like the active reading. Third, the social participating degrees were different by each movies, and the audiences of 'Dogani' showed the highest degree. Fourth, the rationality of cinema sphere showed a low level, but it was an element appearing the uniqueness of the cinema sphere. This study is valuable in that it proved the cinema sphere in the online spaces. Especially, it can suggest various implications in that it organized the elements of the cinema sphere and examine them quantitatively.;한국 사회에서 사회적 문제를 다루는 ‘사회 고발적 영화’에 대한 함의는 매우 크다고 할 수 있다. 다큐멘터리, 팩션, 실화 영화등 장르를 넘나드는 사회고발 영화들은 ‘무비 저널리즘’이라고도 불리우며 저널리즘과의 보완적인 관계를 수행한다.사회 고발 영화들은 기존에 알려져 있던 사건들, 혹은 관심 받지 못하였던 사회 사건들의 이면을 보여주는 역할을 수행한다. 신문, 뉴스와 같은 기존의 저널리즘 맥락에서 다루어졌던 사건을 좀 더 자세히 파헤치면서 구체적 정보를 전달하는 것을 넘어서 피해자들과 주변 인물들의 감정까지도 전달할 수 있도록 한다. 사회고발 영화들의 일차적 목표는 사회의 모순에 대한 고발이며, 그 모순에 대한 대안은 바로 대중의 반응 속에서 나타나게 된다. 따라서 사회고발 영화들의 의미를 완성시키는 것은 바로 영화를 관람한 관객이다. 영화를 관람한 관객이 영화에 대한 단순한 감상에만 머물러 영화에 대한 이야기를 한다면 그러한 관객은 단순한 관찰자로 남게 되는 것이다. 하지만 사회 고발영화들을 관람한 관객이 다른 관객과의 연결성을 지니고 해당 영화 속에 등장하는 사회적 사건에 대한 공적인 토론을 시행한다면 사회고발 영화의 의미가 비로소 생겨난다고 할 수 있다. 관객들이 다른 관객들과 연결성을 가지기 위한 장소로서 온라인 공간은 매우 중요하다. 온라인 공간은 접근성이 높으며 자신의 사회적 위치와 관계없는 평등한 토론을 실시할 수 있는 공간이기 때문이다. 일찍이 이러한 토론이 시행되는 공간은 ‘공론장(public sphere)’로 불리우며 대중들의 의견 교환의 장이 되어왔다. 카페, 살롱과 같은 물리적 공간에서 행해졌던 토론들은 매체 발달로 인해 온라인 공간으로 옮겨왔다. 많은 온라인 공간 중에서 영화에 대한 토론이 가장 활발하게 발생되는 공간으로 블로그를 꼽을 수 있다. 본 연구는 하버마스(Habermas)의 공론장 이론을 바탕으로 영화 공론장을 검증해보려는 의도에서 출발하였다. 공론장에 관한 선행연구들은 대부분 정치 공론장에 한정되어 있지만 본 연구에서는 사회 문제를 다루는 영화들이 촉발하는 공론장에 대한 분석을 시도하여 공론장의 가능성을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 블로그에서 성폭력을 다룬 세 영화 ‘도가니’, ‘소원’, ‘한공주’에 대한 토론 600개를 대상으로 내용분석을 실시하였으며 이를 바탕으로 다음과 같은 주제를 탐색하는 것에 초점을 두었다. 첫째, 영화로 촉발되는 공론장에서 토론의 공공성이 어떻게 나타나는지 살펴본다. 둘째, 영화 관객들이 영화를 바라보는데 있어 능동적인 해독을 실시하는지 살펴본다. 셋째, 영화 관객들이 사회적 공론화 과정을 통한 사회적 참여를 실시하고 있는지 살펴본다. 넷째, 영화 토론이 가지는 토론의 합리성 측면을 살펴본다. 영화와 공론장에 관한 선행 연구들은 질적연구에 한정되어 있었지만, 본 연구에서는 이러한 한계를 극복하고자 양적 연구를 실시하였으며 영화 공론장이 가져야 할 기본적인 요소들을 정리하였다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영화로 촉발되는 토론들은 공적인 토론 내용을 가진다. 둘째, 영화 관객들은 능동적인 해독을 실시하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 영화별로 사회적 참여도는 달랐으며 가장 많은 사회 참여도를 보인 것은 <도가니>의 관객들이었다. 넷째, 영화 공론장의 합리성은 낮은 수준으로 나타났지만, 이는 영화 공론장의 특수성을 드러내는 요소로 드러났다. 해당 연구는 온라인 공간에서의 영화 공론장을 검증했다는 데에 의의가 있다. 특히 영화 공론장이 지니는 요소들을 정리하고 그것을 양적으로 살펴보았다는 점에서 다양한 시사점을 제공해주리라 판단된다.
