신체기관을 통한 생명 이미지 표현에 대한 연구

Abstract

인간과 그 신체는 독립적으로 존재하는 것이 아니라 주위를 둘러싼 환경과 끊임없이 관계하며 살아간다. 이러한 관계는 인간 존재에 대한 근본적 질문과 인간과 외부와의 관계에 대한 물음에 다다르게 한다. 본 연구에서는 인간의 내장기관을 통해 인간이 어떠한 존재인가하는 질문에 이르고자 한다. 내장기관의 각 부분은 외부세계와 어떠한 연관이 있는지에 대해 고찰하며 이들이 지니는 생명성을 발견하였으며, 미적 요소를 탐구한 후 그것을 조형언어로 풀어내고자 한다. 본 논문에서는 생물학적 관심으로부터 비롯한 내장기관이라는 주제를 연구하기 위해 서양의 해부학을 우선 참고하여 각 장기의 생물학적 위치와 형태를 살펴보았다. 이후 동양 전통의 의학을 연구하며 인체와 장기, 인체와 그 외부와의 관계에 대한 이해를 도모하였다. 이로 부터 인체 내부와 인간의 내면으로까지 연구의 영역을 확장하였으며, 이를 위해 동양 전통의 인식체계인 유(儒)· 불(佛) ·도(道)에서 이야기하는 유기적 생명관에관해서도살펴본후작품제작에앞서이론적고찰을통하여본연구의 주제를 표현할 수 있는 가능성을 검토하였다. 또한 현대 예술에서 드러나는 인체와 생명에 대한 표현 사례를 비교, 분석하여 본인의 연구 주제와 표현 방식을 보다 확고히 하였다. 신체 기관의 생명 이미지를 시각화하는방법으로 생명의 기초 형태를 입방체로 표현하였으며, 점차 유기적인 형태로 변화시키면서 생명성을 표출하는 내장기관을 표현하고자 하였다. 작품 제작 방식에 있어서는 파라핀 캐스팅기법과 철선 망을 혼합하여 사용하였다. 캐스팅 기법을 통해파라핀안에삽입된철선조형이일부드러나게하면서혈관및세포의이미지를 어렴풋이 등장시키는 방식으로 생명의 이미지를 이끌어 내고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 표현하고자 하는 주제에 대해서 다른 학문과 이론의 연구를 통해 새로운 시각을 얻을 수 있었으며, 이는 작품의 제작 방식에도 차이점을 획득할 수 있는 바탕이 되었다. 이로써 본 연구의 작품이 독자적 조형언어를 가질 수 있는 이론적 기반을 마련할 수 있었으며 이를 토대로 현대 사회속에서 어떻게 살아갈 것인가에 대한 방향 설정 또한 도모할 수 있었다. 이 연구를 계기로 향후 연구자의 조형활동의 표현영역이 점차확대될 수있기를기대해본다.;People and their bodies are not independent beings, but they constantly form relations with their surrounding environments. Those relations lead to fundamental questions about human existence and relationships between man and the outside. This study set out to investigate what kind of being man was through the internal organs. It would examine connections between each part of internal organs and the outside world, discover their vitality, make an inquiry into their aesthetic elements, and interpret them in a formative language. In an effort to explore the topic of internal organs based on biological interest in them, the investigator first consulted Western anatomy and figured out the biological positions and forms of each organ. Then the traditional Oriental medicine was examined to promote the understanding of relations between the human body and its organs and between the human body and the outside world. The research scope thus expanded to the inside of human body and the inner world of man. After looking into the organic viewpoints of life discussed in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, which make up the traditional awareness system of Orient, the investigator made a theoretical consideration before a creative process and reviewed the possibilities of expressing the topic of the study. The investigator also compared and analyzed the expressive cases of human body and life in contemporary art, thus solidifying her research topic and expressive methods further. The basic forms of life were expressed in cubes to visualize the life images of body organs and then gradually changed into organic forms to express the internal organs displaying vitality. A combination of paraffin casting and wire mesh was applied to make works. Some parts of wire sculpture inserted in the paraffin were disclosed through the casting technique to show the images of blood vessels and cells vaguely and induce the images of life. The investigator examined other disciplines and theories regarding the topic of the study and thus obtained new viewpoints, which formed a foundation for her different approaches to creation. They led to a theoretical base for her works to develop an original formative language, and it helped to set a direction for life in the modern society. The present study will hopefully contribute to the gradual expansion of the investigator’s expressive scope for her formative activities.
