충만한 삶의 자리로

Abstract

This thesis is motivated by the situation that I wanted to break free. I examine the origin of the situation and show the process in which I find specific clues to escape from the situation. Additionally, I explain how the process is closely related to art and furthermore, propose that art is a key to escape. In the introduction, I acknowledge that the escapable situation is a life without sensibility. By pointing at various social issues and references, I claim that insensibility is rooted in societal structures, and by that nature, insensibility is systematic error of our collective society rather than that of an individual. Thus, I accuse our collective society for the insensibility and propose that art is getting birth when we realize that there is the systematic error in society and resist to it. Also, such artistic resistance revitalizes our senses, creating the vitality and the fullness of life. Chapter Ⅱ, I clarify the aforementioned concepts such as insensibility, system, desire, vitality of life, etc. through the theory of Jacques Lacan, a psychoanalyst of the 20th century. I examined the relationships of the three stages of cognition [Imaginary- Symbolic- the Real], Object petit a, the Real, and the Desire, which comprise the fundamental pillars of his theory. Building onto Lacan’s theory, I assert that the escape from the insensibility is to generate error in our society and its structure; to err is to escape from insensibility, to revert back to the state of desire, and to resume our vitality. In Chapter Ⅲ, I elaborate that desire is a driving force toward the fullness of life. I point out that our desire is a positive energy capable of driving our life into the place of fullness. Finally I tie the aforementioned theory into my works. My works is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on generating error and the second part arouses our senses through the error. In conclusion, this paper details my existential journey towards the world lying in front of myself in fullness. ;본 논문은 연구자가 벗어나고 싶었던 상황에서부터 시작되었다. 따라서 연구자는 본 논문을 통해 탈출하고 싶었던 상황의 근원을 찾고, 그 문제로부터 벗어나기 위한 구체적인 실마리를 찾아나가는 과정들을 보여주고자 하였다. 또한 이 과정들이 어떻게 예술과 긴밀하게 연결되고 있는지 설명하고 예술이 문제 해결방법으로써 작용할 수 있음을 논의하였다. 서론에서는 본 연구자가 벗어나고 싶은 상황이 무감각한 삶이었음을 밝히고 있다. 무감각을 생산해내는 것은 사회의 시스템이기에 무감각한 상태로 살아가고 있는 것이 개인의 문제가 아닌 시스템의 문제임을 다양한 사회적 이슈들과 문헌들을 통하여 논의하였다. 결국, 연구자는 시스템에 문제가 있음을 느끼고 이것에 저항할 때 예술이 탄생한다는 것을 설명하고 자 하였다. 또한 예술은 시스템에 저항하는 것이기에 예술을 통해 다시 세계를 다양하게 감각하는 것이 가능해지고 이것이 삶에 생기를 주며 무감각한 상태에서 벗어나 삶을 충만하게 살아나가도록 하는 것임을 언급하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 서론에서 본 연구자가 언급하였던 무감각, 시스템, 욕망, 삶의 생기 등을 정신분석가인 자크 라캉((Jacques Lacan)의 이론들을 통하여 설명하였다. 라캉의 이론을 통해 본 연구자의 주장을 밝히기에 앞서 그의 기본적인 이론 틀인 인식의 3단계[상상계(Imaginary)-상징계(Symbolic)-실재계(the Real)]와 대상a(objet petit a), 그리고 실재와 욕망(Desire)의 관계를 살펴보았다. 그리고 그의 이론들이 서론에서 언급하였던 내용들과 어떻게 연결되고 있는지 논의하였다. 또한 무감각에서 벗어나는 방법이 시스템에 오류를 생산하는 것임을 보다 심도 있게 논의하였다. 오류를 생산한다는 것은 우리를 무감각에서 벗어나게 하며, 다시 욕망하는 존재로 되돌리고, 우리 삶에 생기를 되찾는 행위임을 설명하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 욕망이 삶을 생기 있게 하며 충만함의 자리로 나아가게 하는 원동력임을 좀 더 구체적으로 설명하였다. 욕망이 긍정적인 활동임을 시사하였고 삶의 생기를 불러오는 욕망이 우리를 충만함의 자리로 되돌리는 것이 가능하다고 주장하였다. 이 후 본인의 작업을 통해 앞서 논의된 이론들이 어떻게 표현되고 있는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구자의 작업은 크게 2가지로 분류되어 있는데 첫째는 오류를 생산하는 것에 좀 더 집중한 작업이고, 두 번째는 생산된 오류를 통하여 보다 적극적으로 우리를 감각하도록 만드는 작업이다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 본인 앞에 주어진 이 세계를 어떠한 방식으로 충만하게 살아갈 것인지에 대한 연구인 동시에 본 연구자의 존재 이유를 찾아나가는 여정이다.
