Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate about the factors influenced when a user recognizes one’s private information value as an economic asset and relationship between the factors will be further discussed. The study is targeted on Internet users and the value of their private information will be converted into economic figures. Moreover, how economic value changes in relation with individual attributes, dealer’s traits, circumstantial properties will be studied. In this research, the changes in factors on private information value according to different situations will be analyzed in an economic perspective. By using the cost-benefit analysis framework, the hypothesis that the user’s sense in private information value can be influenced by individual attributes and situational properties will be proved. Also, in the aspect of business, the study will be able to make users recognize the true value of their personal information and minimize the cost due to private information security incidents. Suggestions on the necessity of estimating investment scale toward protection of private information will be presented. Overall, the study will proceed under the hypothesis that users’ recognition on their private information value is influenced by the attributes of individual, dealer, or situations. Based on this, the paper will be able to propose solutions on the following research questions. First, the factors influencing the recognition of individual information value will be traced. Second, the idea that economic value on user’s information can be different according to the attributes of the individual, dealer, or situation will be proved. Third, the influence by the factors on individual recognition of risks will be studied. Through the study on these questions, this research paper aims to convey the concept that recognizing private information in an economic perspective can differ according to various factors and moreover, to prove the correlation between the values of private information with the degree of recognized risk.;본 연구의 목적은 사용자가 개인 정보의 가치를 경제적 관점으로 인지할 때 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색하고 그 관계들을 증명하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 인터넷을 사용하는 정보시스템 사용자들을 대상으로 개인 정보를 제공하는 상황에서 개개인이 인식하는 개인정보의 경제적 가치를 수치로 환산하고, 개인적 특성, 거래상대방의 특성, 상황적 특성에 따라 개인 정보의 경제적 가치가 어떻게 변화하는지를 살펴보고자 한다. 이 연구에서는 개인정보 가치가 상황에 따라 달라지는 요인들을 경제적 측면에서 분석하고, 지각된 위험과 개인정보 가치의 상관관계를 파악하고자 한다. 또한 개인이 느끼는 개인정보 가치가 개인적 특성과 상황적 요인들로 인해 영향을 받는다는 가설을 증명하기 위해 비용편익분석 프레임워크를 바탕으로 분석하고자 한다. 따라서, 본 연구는 개인적, 거래상대방, 상황적 특성이 사용자들의 개인 정보 가치를 인식하는데 있어서 영향을 미친다는 가정 하에 다음과 같은 구체적인 연구문제에 대한 해답을 제시하고자 한다. 첫째, 개인 정보 가치의 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색하고, 둘째, 개인적, 거래상대방, 상황적 특성에 따라 정보시스템 사용자들의 정보의 경제적 가치 인식이 다를 수 있음을 증명하고, 셋째, 이러한 요인들이 개인마다의 지각된 위험에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 개인 정보 가치를 경제적 관점에서 인지하는 것이 여러 가지 요인들에 따라 다를 수 있음을 이해하고, 지각된 위험이 개인정보가치를 결정하는 것의 상관관계를 증명하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 개인적 특성, 거래상대방 특성, 상황적 특성과 지각된 위험의 상관관계, 그리고 지각된 위험과 개인정보가치간의 관계 검증을 위해 상관관계분석 및 일원분산분석, paired t-test, probit 회귀분석 그리고 CVM 방법론 등 다양한 분석 도구들을 사용하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 개인이 정보를 제공하는 상황에서 개인적 특성인 위험회피성향 요인과 개인의 지각된 위험간의 관계는 유의하지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 하지만 정보를 제공 및 판매하는 상황에서는 개인마다 지각하는 정보가치가 달라지는 것과 지각된 위험 인지 수준이 개인적 요인 외에 다른 특성들의 영향이 더 크게 작용하는 것을 그 외 가설 증명을 통해 파악할 수 있었다. 거래상대방 특성과 관련한 가설 검증에 따르면, 거래상대방 특성인 정보유출경험과 정보보안체계확립의 유무는 개인의 지각된 위험과 관련이 있다고 밝혀졌다. 그리고 상황적 특성인 통제성과 불확실성은 사람들의 지각된 위험과 유의한 관계가 있음이 확인되었다. 뿐만 아니라, 개인의 지각된 위험은 거래상대방, 상황적 특성 요인들의 영향을 받으며, 이것은 개인정보가치를 평가할 때 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 사람들의 지각된 위험은 개인정보가치를 평가하는데 있어 중요한 영향을 미치며, 거래상대방과 상황적 특성에 따라 개인의 정보 제공 의사와 정보가치의 평가가 다르게 이루어 진다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서 증명한 지각된 위험과 그 특성 요인들, 그리고 개인정보가치의 관계 모델은 개인정보가치 산정에 새로운 관점을 제시한다. 정보 제공 및 판매 상황에서 개인적 특성, 거래상대방 특성, 상황적 특성이 개인의 지각된 위험과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 파악하고, 지각된 위험과 개인정보가치 사이의 상관관계를 경제적 측면에서 분석한 점에서 학문적 공헌도가 있다. 또한 본 연구는 기업적 측면에서 개인정보 침해사고로 인한 비용을 최소화하기 위해 개인이 느끼는 개인 정보의 가치에 대해 정확히 인식하고 개인 정보보호에 대한 적정수준의 투자규모 산정 논의를 확보할 필요성을 제공한다.
