Béla Bartók의 Romanian Folk Dances for Violin and Piano에 관한 연구

Abstract

벨라 바르톡(Béla Bartók, 1881-1945)은 20세기 헝가리를 대표하는 작곡가로서 민속음악을 바탕으로 독자적인 음악 양식을 확립하였다. 그는 헝가리와 그 주변 국가들의 다양한 민요를 수집하고 연구했으며, 이를 자신의 작품에 적극적으로 활용하였다. 그는 민요에서 받은 영향을 작품에 반영하기 위해 선율과 리듬, 화성에서 독특한 실험을 시도하였고, 그 결과 장·단 체계에서 벗어난 음계, 불규칙한 리듬, 복잡한 화성과 불협화음, 그리고 황금분할에 기초를 둔 기하학적인 화성구조 등을 사용하여 작품을 구성하였다. 즉, 민속음악을 통해 새로운 음악어법들을 발견하여 자신의 음악세계를 확연하게 체계화하기 시작한 것이다. 그의 대표적인 민속음악 작품 중 하나인 <루마니아 민속 무곡>은 1915년에 작곡된 곡으로, 원곡은 피아노곡이지만 졸탄 세케이(Zoltán Székely, 1903-2001)가 1926년에 바이올린과 피아노를 위한 곡으로 편곡하였다. 총 6개의 간결하고 개성 있는 춤곡으로 구성되었으며, 트란실바니아의 네 군데 지역에서 채집한 선율을 소재로 하였다. 그는 전통적 조성체계인 장・단음계에서 벗어나고자 각각의 곡에서는 주로 선법을 사용하였다. 선율은 비교적 짧고 단순한 편이며, 각 곡에서는 제시된 선율이 반복되거나 변주하는 기법으로 발전되었다. 또한 민속음악 전통으로부터 나온 부점 리듬과 당김음 리듬을 통해 민속성을 강하게 드러냈다. 본 논문은 <루마니아 민속 무곡>의 분석을 통해서 바르톡이 추구했던 음악관에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 그의 음악을 좀 더 심도 있게 이해하고자 하는 데에 그 목적이 있다.;Béla Bartók(1881-1945) is a representative Hungarian composer in the 20th century, who established a specific musical form based on folk music. He collected and investigated a lot of folk songs in Hungary and neighboring countries, actively utilizing them in his work. To reflect the influences of folk songs to his work, he attempted unique experiments in melody, rhythm, chord while constructing his pieces with scales deviated from major scale and minor scale, irregular rhythm, complicated chords and disharmony, and geometric chord structure based on golden section. In other words, he obviously started to systematize his musical world by finding new musical grammar through folk music. <Romanian Folk Dances>, one of his representative folk music pieces, was composed in 1915. Although it was originally a piano piece, it was arranged by Zoltán Székely(1903-2001) for Violin and Piano. It was comprised of 6 brief and characterful pieces of dance music under the themes of melodies collected from 4 areas in Transylvania. To be deviated from major scale and minor scale of traditional chord system, he mainly used mode in each movement. The melodies are comparatively short and simple. In each movement, the suggested melodies develop with the techniques of repetitions or variations. Moreover, the folk characteristics are strongly revealed through dotted rhythm and syncopation rhythm. This study aims to understand the work of Bartók in depth by exploring his views on music and analyzing <Romanian Folk Dances>.
