Abstract

본 논문은 바흐(J. S. Bach, 1685-1750)의 「Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 No.3 in C sharp Major, BWV 848」, 베토벤(L. v. Beethoven, 1770-1826)의 「Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109」, 슈만(R. Schumann, 1810-1856)의 「Humoreske Op. 20」, 베르크(A. Berg, 1885-1935)의 「Piano Sonata Op. 1」를 중심으로 각 작곡가들과 작품들의 배경, 작곡기법, 음악적 특징에 대하여 연구하는 것에 목적을 둔다. 바흐는 바로크시대의 독일 작곡가로서, 건반악기 분야에 있어서 수많은 업적을 남겼다. 두 권의 평균율클라비어곡집은 24개의 장, 단조로 이루어져 있으며 모든 곡은 프렐류드와 푸가로 구성되어있다. 본 논문에서는 평균율 클라비어곡집 제1권의 「No.3 in C sharp Major, BWV 848」를 다룬다. 이 곡의 프렐류드는 경쾌한 C sharp Major 조성으로 크게 두 부분으로 나뉘며 중심적 멜로디가 상성부와 하성부가 대화하듯이 나타난다. 푸가는 비교적 긴 길이의 3성 푸가로서 3부분으로 명확하게 나뉘어 제시부, 발전부, 재현부적인 성격의 모습이 뚜렷하게 드러나는 특징을 지닌다. 베토벤은 고전주의시대의 독일 작곡가로, 전 생애에 걸쳐 32개의 피아노 소나타를 작곡하였다. 특히 후기의 5개의 소나타에는 회고적이며 자전적인 태도와 삶에 대한 성찰 등의 내적인 감정표현이 두드러진다. 본 논문에서 다루는 「Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109」는 베토벤의 후기 피아노 소나타들 중 가장 낭만적인 색채가 짙은 곡으로 대위법, 변주곡의 구성, 자유로운 형식 등의 다양한 기법적 특징과 더불어 음악적 깊이를 드러내고 있는 작품이다. 슈만은 낭만주의시대의 독일 작곡가로, 그는 본인만의 독창적인 어법을 구축하여 자유로운 형식의 피아노 작품들을 남겼다. 그의 피아노 작품의 대다수는 성격소품이 주를 이루며 작곡가의 주관적인 감정을 보다 자유롭고 다양한 방식으로 표현하는 낭만주의 음악에 큰 공헌을 하였다. 본 논문에서 다루는 「Humoreske Op. 20」은 슈만의 성격소품 중 하나이며 복잡한 내면적 세계를 나타내고 있다. 슈만 특유의 독특한 리듬과 아름다운 선율과의 조화가 돋보이고 모음곡 형태로 작곡되었다. 베르크는 20세기 초 독일의 작곡가로써, 쇤베르크, 베베른과 함께 신빈악파로 불린다. 그는 쇤베르크의 12음 기법을 토대로 특유의 낭만적 성향과 무조음악을 결합하여 서정성이 짙은 음악을 추구하였다. 본 논문에서 다루는 「Piano Sonata Op. 1」은 그가 남긴 단 하나의 피아노 소나타이며 단악장으로 작곡되었다. ;This essay is based on J. S. Bach’s 「Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 No.3 in C sharp Major, BWV 848」, L. v. Beethoven’s 「Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109」, R. Schumann’s 「Humoreske Op. 20」 and A. Berg’s 「Piano Sonata Op. 1」 focusing on analysing each composition and composer’s background, musical characteristics, and composition method. Bach was a German-born Baroque composer and 「The Well-Tempered Clavier Book」 consists of 2 books that include 24 pieces of major and minor Preludes and Fugues. The book is numbered by BWV starting from BWV 846 and ending in BWV 893. <The Book 1> was completed in 1721 and <the Book 2> in 1741. 「The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 No.3 in C sharp Major, BWV 848」, Prelude is divided into two major parts where the melody is repeated by top voice and bottom voice in a dialogue. Fuga contains relatively long 3 voices fuga which has distinct characteristics of exposition, development and recapitulation. Beethoven was a German-born classical composer who accomplished 32 piano sonatas that can be divided into early-middle-late period. Of all the periods, the late period’s 5 sonatas reveal most overtly Beethoven’s attitudes towards life that is reflective, retrospective and personal. Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109 is one example of the late period that is very romantic in tone and also displays late Beethoven’s musical depth through counterpoint, variations composition and freedom of form. Schumann was a German-born Romantic composer who created his own unique expression in his music instead of following the Classical period’s formality. Most of his works are character pieces which focus on the composer’s subjective emotions in a rather free and various ways that paved its mark as a Romantic music. 「Humoreske Op.20」 is one example which highlights his mastery of unique rhythm and beautiful melody. Also, in a suite, his complicated inner world is revealed through various emotional changes that are extreme. Berg was a German-born composer who represented‘Second Viennese School’ along with A. Schönberg, A. Webern and made a great contribution towards an early modern music. Based on Schönberg’s 12 tone technique, Berg combined his own romantic tendencies with atonal music that pursued lyricism. Berg left only one piano sonata which is the first piece to be numbered among other works. 「Piano Sonata Op. 1」 is a one movement piece that is a harmonious mixture of Berg’s unique post-romantic texture, tone and atonal voice.
