트랜스 미디어(Transmedia)관점에서 본 텍스타일 디자인 연구

Abstract

섬유는 예로부터 인간의 필요에 의해 생활 속에서 친근하고 밀접한 관계를 유지하면서 시대의 변화에 따라 소재와 기술면에서 많은 발전을 하여 왔고 오늘날에는 실용성을 내포한 분야로서 현대 텍스타일 디자인의 형성에 이르렀다. 20세기 이후 전개된 미적양식의 변동은 현대에 이르러 더 복잡해지고 수단이 지능화 되었으며, 좀 더 고차원적인 창의성을 요구하고 있다. 이에 따라 소비자의 디자인에 대한 안목이 높아지고 취향이 다양해짐에따라, 섬유산업계에서는 소비자의 개성화, 다양화, 감성화를 충족시킬수 있는 아이디어 개발을 위한 방안으로서 디자인양식에 대한 관심은 더욱 증가되고 있다. 창의성이 중요시 되는 동시에 융합과 소통의 가치가 주목받게 되면서, 이런 분위기 속에서 디자인에도 과학의 영향이 점차 커지고 있다. 인간의 생활전반에 깊숙이 들어와 있는 디자인은 예전에 이질적이라고 생각했던 것들의 융합과 소통을 원하는 시대적 요구가 중요해졌으며, 과학과 디자인의 상호보완적 교류가 더욱 활성화 되고 있는 상황이다. 이에 따라 소비자들은 예전의 정형화된 모티프(motif)가 표현되어 있는 패턴 디자인(pattern design)보다는 기존의 보지 못했던 미래적 모티프의 디자인을 보며 새로움을 느끼고 있다. 과학적 영역과 디자인을 융합하는 방식에서 가장 큰 영향을 미친 문화 중 하나는 ‘트랜스 문화’라고 할 수 있다. 그동안 주변으로 밀려나 소외된 문화들이 다시 재조명 받기 시작했으며, 이러한 경계를 넘나드는 새로운 퓨전문화와 트랜스 문화가 생겨나기 시작했다. 경계들이 사라져가고 영역들이 겹치면서 그동안 보지 못한 새로운 장르가 등장하고있는 것이다. 이것은 예술과 디자인영역에서 소외되었던 과학적 영역이 요즘 다시 예술계에서 주목받고 있으며, 여러 형태의 작품으로 발전되고 있는 것을 시사한다. 이러한 문화 속에서 디자인, 건축, 미디어, 마케팅 등 여러 분야에서 주목받고 있는 ‘트래스 미디어(Transmedia)’라는 개념을 중심으로 텍스타일 디자인을 연구 하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 트랜스 미디어 관점에서 본 창의적인 텍스타일 디자인을 연구하기 위하여 다음과 같은 과정으로 진행하였다. 첫째, 예술과 텍스타일 디자인에 있어서 트랜스 미디어(Transmedia)의 영향과 발달과정을 문헌적 고찰을 통한 이론적 이해와 함께, 텍스타일 디자인에서 디지털 판타지의 표현이 가능한가에 대하여 알아보았다. 둘째, 창의적인 디자인을 위한 모티프 창출에 있어서 핸드드로잉과 디지털 작업을 동시에 진행하고, 가상적인 요소와 일상적인 요소를 적절하게 혼합하여 패턴 디자인을 연구한다. 셋째, 여러 패턴의 종류와 배열, 표현, 기법을 통해 디지털 세계를 표현한 모티브가 자연스럽게 구성될 수 있는 방법을 연구하고 다양한 섬유에 프린트를 하여 기존의 패턴디자인과의 차별성을 가늠해보고자 한다. 넷째, 디지털 프린트를 이용해 작업한 결과물을 통해 디자인의 개선점과 가능성을 제안하고 이질적인 모티프의 혼합을 표현하여 2개의 역할이 하나로 합쳐지는 하이브리드 양식의 한계점을 연구해본다. 본 연구자는 이번 연구에서 가상과 일상의 모티브를 통해 텍스타일 디자인에 있어서 트랜스 미디어의 관점에서 본 시각적 표현 가능성을 타진해 보았으며, 첨단 장비인 디지털 텍스타일 프린터의 섬세한 표현 가능성이 기존의 미래적 모티프 표현의 한계점을 극복하면서 디자이너들의 새로운 감각과 창의력 표현에 큰 도움을 주리라 생각된다.;From old times, textile was friendly and intimate media in people’s lives maintaining a close relationship by the human need, and it came to a number of developments in materials and technology in accordance with the changing times. Today, as the field it reached a connotation of practicality in the formation of modern textile designs. Since the 20th century, variations of the aesthetic forms have been deployed more complex, and the means have been intelligent in the modern, demanding a more high-level creativity. Accordingly, in accordance with an eye for design of consumer tastes are increasingly varied, by doing so, in the textile industry, the interest in design form has been increased to meet the consumers personalized and diversified, as a way for the design idea development. While at the same time, the value of convergence, communication and creativity are critical attention, and also the influence of digital science is growing gradually, even in this design area. In this area, in perspective of the times required, the convergence of disparate things is now more important than the past that people thought its look was not good and natural. Furthermore, there is even more active situation that the complementary interchange of science and design. As a result, consumers are feeling more the newness when they look at futuristic motifs that they have not seen before, rather than when they see old formal stylized motifs pattern. One mad culture the greatest impact on the way of combining the scientific area and the design field may be called "Trans Culture”. A marginalized culture pushed to the periphery has begun to receive attention again in the meantime. Accordingly, there have been begun to emerge Fusion Culture and Trans Culture, which are crossing freely the boundary of the marginalized and the main. In other words, there is the emergence of a new genre that has never seen far, while the boundaries have been beginning to disappear and also the different areas have been overlapping. Scientific areas, which were neglected in the art and design area in the past, are again attracting attention in the art world in the present, and in this way, various forms of art and design work have been developed. Accordingly, in the trans culture, ‘Transmedia’ concept is being highlighted in many areas, including the design, architecture, media and marketing. So, the researcher carries out the study by focusing on researching textile design with the perspective of transmedia. This study was conducted in the following procedure to study the creative textile design from the transmedia perspective First, the purpose of this study was to researh development of trans-culturural influence in the arts and textile design with a theoretical understanding through literature review. Then, representation of the transcendental and dreamlike world is examined with respect to possible in textile design. Second, in the creation motifs for creative design goes hand drawing and digital operations, and study the pattern design by mixing virtural elements and everyday elements adequately. Third, it was studied how to represent the digital world and how to design multiple motifs composed overall naturally, through the research, such as various kind of pattern arrangements, expressions and techniques. And then, digital textile printing on various fibers is to evaluate the differentiation of the conventional pattern design. Fourth, through digital textile printing, the design work outputs suggest improvements and possibility of them. By expressing a mix of heterogeneous motif, the limitations of this hybrid form that combines in one of two roles are carried out. As summarized above, by the arrival in the diversified digital age, this study was conducted by approaching visual representation possibilities of the textile design from the point of view of transmedia through a heterogeneous combination of virtual motifs and everyday life motifs. The delicate expression possibility of digital textile printing as state-of-the-art equipment is thought to overcome the limitations of traditional motifs and futuristic representation will give a great help to a new sense of creativity and expression of the next designer.
