Johannes Brahms의 Sonata for Cello and piano in e minor op.38 No.1에 대한 구조분석 및 연구

Abstract

예술 작품이란 작가의 생각과 살아왔던 인생, 곡을 썼을 때의 감정이 담겨져 있는 영혼의 산물과 같다. 연주자의 궁극적인 목표인 음악적 감동을 주기 위해서는 단순히 악상 기호 또는 형식에 대한 지식만 가지고 곡을 연주하는 것뿐만이 아니라 보다 심층적으로 다가가 작곡자의 생애와 가치관을 이해하고 그 시대적 분위기를 읽을 수 있어야 한다. 또한 곡이 만들어지게 된 배경을 정확히 알고 있어야지만 작곡가의 의도에 부합되는 연주를 할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문에서는 브람스「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38」작품을 통해 그의 예술과 삶을 언급하여 연주자들에게 전문적인 지식을 전달하고 완성도 있는 해석을 돕고자 한다. 브람스는 절대음악의 정통성과 순수성을 고수한 작곡가로서 19세기의 슈베르트, 멘델스존, 슈만과 같은 음악가들과 더불어 고전주의 형식구조와 주제, 화성, 관현악법안에서 음악을 표현한 보수주의적인 성향을 가진 낭만주의 악파의 대표자이다. 그는 다수의 교향곡, 협주곡, 실내악, 피아노곡 등 200여 곡이 넘는 작품을 남겼는데 그 중 피아노삼중주, 사중주, 오중주, 현악사중주, 오중주, 육중주, 클라리넷오중주, 바이올린, 첼로, 클라리넷소나타 등 24곡의 실내악 작품을 작곡하였다. 낭만파 시대를 대표하는 브람스는 혁신적이고 색채와 기교가 화려한 급진적 낭만주의와 달리 전통적인 고전주의 형식을 중요하게 여겼고 그 전통위에 본인만의 독자적인 화성과 서정적 감정을 균형 있게 나타냈다. 본 논문에서는 고독하고 짙은 감성이 묻어나오는 브람스 특유의 음악 세계가 19세기의 시대적 배경과 음악 특징을 바탕으로 어떠한 영향을 받았는지 알아보고 브람스의「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38 No.1」,「Cello Sonata in F Major, op.99 No.2」두 첼로 소나타 작품을 통해 그의 작곡 발전과 음악 형식, 구조를 비교해보려 한다. 또한「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38」작품의 각 악장을 구조적 선율적 화성적으로 분석하여 그의 음악적 특징을 이해하는데 도움이 되고자 한다.;A piece of art is like a fruit of artist’s spirit that encompasses the sentiment, the life and the thoughts of the artist. In order to touch the hearts of the listener through playing - the ultimate goal for musicians - should the musicians not only play notations and understand the music piece, but go beyond by understanding the life and values of the composer, and be able to actually understand the life and values of the composer and able to read the zeitgeist that lay within the era. Only then, will the musician be able to play a piece that corresponds to the composer’s intention. The purpose of this study is to help cellists to play Brahms pieces by in-depth analysis of「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38」. In doing so, the composer’s life and music was also included. J. Brahms is a composer that holds on to the traditions and the purity of the absolute music. He is, among Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Schumann, to represent romantist era that expressed music in conservative manner in classical structure type and theme, harmony, and orchestration. He has left over 200 pieces of many symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and piano pieces, from which 24 chamber music pieces were dedicated for piano trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, string quartet, quintet, sextet, clarinet quintet, violin, cello and clarinet sonata. Unlike other radical Romantic composers, Brahms considered classical structure important, resulting in his unique harmony and lyrical sentiment that was based on traditions. In the following thesis, an in-depth analysis on which backgrounds of the music in the 19th century have influenced Brahms’music that is solitary and full of deep sentiments, and compare and contrast his composing developments and musical structure through「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38 No.1」and「Cello Sonata in F Major,op.99 No.2」. In addition, an movement by movement analysis of melody and harmony was carried out on「Cello Sonata in e minor, op.38」in order to help better understand the musical world of Brahms.
