대학생의 헬리콥터 양육과 대인관계의 어려움의 관계에서 수치심과 사회적 자기효능감의 매개효과 및 경제적 자립도의 조절효과

Abstract

최근 세계경제위기로 한국 성인진입기 청년들이 극심한 취업난을 겪으면서 이들의 경제적인 어려움뿐만 아니라 심리적 고통이 주목을 받고 있다. 하지만 이에 관한 국내연구는 아직 거의 찾아보기 어렵다. 또한 성인진입기 청년들이 겪는 헬리콥터 양육이 오늘날 대학가에 만연해 있음에도 헬리콥터 양육에 대한 국내연구는 거의 전무한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 자녀가 경험한 헬리콥터 양육이 대학생의 대인관계의 어려움을 예측하는지, 이 관계를 수치심과 사회적 자기효능감이 매개하는지, 대학생 자녀의 경제적 자립도에 따라 차이가 있는지 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 변수들 간의 전체적인 관계를 파악하기 위하여 구조모형 분석을 실시하였으며, 이를 위해 모집한 대학생 970명의 자기보고식 설문 자료 중 불성실하게 응답한 자료를 제거하고 경제수준이 중류인 547명의 자료를 선별하여 사용하였다. 검증 결과, 대학생 자녀가 경험한 헬리콥터 양육은 대인관계의 어려움에 직접적인 영향을 미치며 헬리콥터 양육이 수치심을 매개하거나 수치심, 사회적 자기효능감의 이중매개를 통해 대인관계의 어려움을 야기할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 경제적 자립도를 상·하 집단으로 나누어 살펴본 결과, 헬리콥터 양육에서 대인관계의 어려움으로 이어지는 경로와 사회적 자기효능감에서 대인관계의 어려움으로 이어지는 경로에서 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 헬리콥터 양육을 경험한 대학생 자녀의 대인관계 어려움을 감소시키기 위하여 수치심, 사회적 자기효능감에 대한 심리치료적 개입과 경제적 자립도에 대한 경제적 개입이 필요할 것으로 보인다.;The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between helicopter parenting and interpersonal problems. Currently, it is a big issue because helicopter parenting and psychological/financial problems are widespread among Korean emerging adults. However, not many studies about these issues were published worldwide, especially in Korea. According to the previous studies, helicopter parenting can be led to high level of shame, low level of self-efficacy and various interpersonal problems. Therefore, it is important to figure out whether helicopter parenting influences social withdrawal of emerging adults or not. The hypothesis of this study is that helicopter parenting can influence interpersonal problems of college students, mediated by shame and social self-efficacy. Considering the fact that many Korean students are suffering from financial difficulties because of the unemployment, it is reasonable to think that the financial independence of college students can affect their psychological difficulties. Thus, another hypothesis of this study is that the psychological difficulties of students can be influenced by their financial independence, which means the financial independence moderates the relationship between the helicopter parenting and interpersonal relationships during emerging adulthood. The participants were 729 undergraduates from universities located on capital area. The data was analysed with Pearson's correlation, Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) by SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0. The results of the study are as follows: First of all, There were significant correlations among helicopter parenting, interpersonal problems, shame, social self-efficacy. Secondly, the examination of structural relation among the major variables showed that paths were statistically significant, expect the path from helicopter parenting to social self-efficacy. Thirdly, the result indicated that the mediating effect of shame on the relationship between helicopter parenting and interpersonal problems was statistically significant. In contrast, the mediating effect of social self-efficacy on the relationship between helicopter parenting and interpersonal problems was not statistically significant. Nonetheless, the dual-mediated effect of shame and social self-efficacy on the relationship between helicopter parenting and interpersonal problems was statistically significant. Finally, the moderating effect of financial independence was statistically significant on two paths; the path from helicopter parenting to interpersonal problems and the path from helicopter parenting to shame. In conclusion, these results showed that interventions on shame and social self-efficacy will be adequate regarding the psychological aspects. In addition, interventions on financial independence will be effective in reducing the psychological difficulties of college students.
