맥시멀리즘 패션의 표현 특성을 응용한 패션 스타일링 연구

Abstract

현대 사회는 다양한 매스미디어의 영향으로 보다 광범위한 세계적 교류가 활발하게 이루어지면서 여러 문화의 공유가 쉽게 이루어진다. 새로운 문화들이 합쳐지면서 또 다른 문화들을 창출하기도 하며, 다채로운 라이프스타일을 추구하고 직접 실현하기도 한다. 그 중 특히 패션은 자신만의 개성을 표출하기 위한 좋은 매개체로서 세계인의 공통 관심사이기도 하다. 현대인들은 자신을 드러내는 것에 숨김이 없으며 더욱 특별한 방식으로 자신의 개성을 표출하기를 원한다. 정형화된 아름다움 보다 각자의 개성을 표현하고 남들과 다르다는 평가를 받고자 노력한다. 이러한 현상은 현대인들이 단순히 옷뿐 만이 아닌 액세서리, 헤어, 메이크업 등의 다른 스타일링 요소들을 통해 전체적인 조화를 이루는 토탈 코디네이션을 하도록 변화시켰다. 이에 따라 현대 패션 산업의 과제는 새로운 패션 스타일을 제공함으로써 소비자의 감성을 만족시키고, 그들이 직접 패션을 리드해 나갈 수 있는 연출 방법을 연구하여 제시하는 것이다. 위에서 언급한 바와 같이 현대 사회는 다양한 문화와 예술장식이 혼합된 양상으로 나타나며 이것들은 현대 패션에서 역시 정치, 문화, 종교, 가치관, 예술 등을 반영하여 여러 요소들이 혼합된 표현물로 나타나고 있다. 21세기에 부각되는 극대지향, 최대지향을 표방하는 맥시멀리즘(maximalism) 또한 과장성, 화려함, 다양성, 장식성 등의 여러 표현 방법의 혼합을 통해 다른 새로움을 추구한다는 점에서 현시대가 추구하는 라이프스타일과 그 뜻을 같이 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 맥시멀리즘을 표현하는 특성은 어떠한 것들이 있는지 선행연구를 통해 분석하고 이를 통해 맥시멀리즘 표현 특성이 21세기 이후 현대 패션에 어떻게 표현되었는지 사례를 통해 살펴본다. 지금까지 이루어진 선행연구들이 맥시멀리즘의 표현특성 분석에 그치고 있는데 비해 본 연구자는 직접 작품을 제작하고 스탕일링을 통해 맥시멀리즘 표현 특성을 응용한 디자인의 새로운 스타일링 연출 방향을 모색하여 이 후의 연구에 도움을 주고자 하는 것에 목적을 두고자한다. 이를 위해 각종 참고 문헌과 선행 연구 자료를 통하여 패션 스타일링에 관한 개념, 패션 스타일리스트의 영역과 역할, 패션 스타일링에 필요한 요소와 표현 방법을 살펴보았다. 또한 맥시멀리즘의 개념과 발생 배경을 고찰하고 맥시멀리즘 패션의 표현 특성을 구체화하였다. 패션 스타일링의 요소와 맥시멀리즘 패션의 연구 및 사례분석을 바탕으로 총 6점의 총 6점의 스타일링 작품 제시를 위해 총 18점의 아이템과 5점의 액세서리, 3점의 슈즈를 제작하였다. 본 연구의 이론적 고찰과 작품 제작, 스타일링의 표현 방법 제안을 통하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션 스타일링은 시각적인 이미지를 나타내기 위한 연출을 뜻하며, 의상 아이템, 액세서리, 소품, 헤어, 메이크업, 배경, 모델 등의 요소들을 효과적으로 조화시켜 새로운 이미지를 연출하는 것이 현대 패션 산업의 과제이다. 패션에 관심이 많아진 일반인들에게 쉽게 접근하기 위한 방식으로 패션 블로거, 패션 스타일링이 가능한 어플리케이션, 패션 정보 전달 프로그램 등 새로운 패션 산업이 발전하고 있다. 둘째, 현대의 맥시멀리즘 패션은 단순함과 간결함을 추구하는 미니멀리즘에서 탈피하기 위해 일종의 재미를 추구하면서 시작되었으며, 이를 표현하기 위한 특성으로는 확대과장성, 장식성, 혼합성, 비구조성이 가장 많이 나타났음을 선행연구를 통해 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 아이템의 디테일 부분인, 러플, 프릴, 리본 등의 실루엣을 확대과장시킬 수 있었다. 표현 방법은 크게 두 가지로, 옷의 구조는 유지하되 실루엣의 크기를 확대과장시키거나 중첩시키는 방법과 장식 디테일을 과장하는 방법으로 나누어볼 수 있었다. 넷째, 비즈로 제작한 목걸이, 벨트와 슈즈로 장식성을 강조할 수 있었다. 총 세 가지 테마에 맞추어 비즈 컬러를 나누어 액세서리를 디자인 제작하였고 액세서리를 착용함으로써 전체적인 스타일링의 장식성이 극대화됨을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 코트, 베스트 등의 남성적 아이템과 블라우스, 드레스 등의 여성적 아이템의 코디네이션과 이질적인 느낌의 남성적 소재와 여성적 소재를 믹스 매치함으로써 두 가지 이상의 소재와 성의 혼합성을 연출할 수 있었다. 여섯째, 메이크업은 혈관이 푸르게 보일 정도로 하얗게 분칠을 했었던 로코코시대의 화장법에서 영감을 얻어 화이트를 주 컬러로 사용하여 차갑고 창백한 이미지로 연출하였다. 헤어 스타일링은 헤어싱을 이용한 업스타일과 백콤을 넣어 한 가닥으로 묶은 스타일 모두 실루엣을 풍성하게 부풀려 줌으로써 과장적이고 장식적인 이미지를 강조할 수 있었다. 일곱째, 연구 주제의 특성에 맞는 양성적인 느낌을 가진 모델을 선택하여 화보 촬영을 진행하고 의상 아이템의 전체분위기, 실루엣, 풍성한 디테일 등이 잘 표현될 수 있도록 모델의 움직임을 유도하였다. 또한 이와 같은 작업 시 적절한 이미지의 모델 선정 및 모델의 연출 능력이 스타일링 화보에 중요한 영향을 주는 요소임을 알 수 있었다. 이상의 내용과 같이 본 연구를 통하여 맥시멀리즘의 표현 특성은 다양한 연출요소들의 조합으로 이루어지는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 창의적인 디자인과 스타일링 방법으로 다양하고 독특한 이미지를 연출할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 작품은 맥시멀리즘의 다양한 특성 중 일부분만을 응용하여 제작하였으나, 이 연구를 계기로 더욱 발전된 연구를 통해 또 다른 스타일링 방법을 제안하고 차별화된 맥시멀리즘 스타일링 연구가 지속적으로 발전되길 기대한다.;While wider ranged global exchange has been activated by the effect of various mass media in modern society, the sharing of different cultures easily achieved. New culture are integrated to create another cultures, it can orient and directly realize various life styles. Especially fashion is the common interest of global citizen as the excellent media to express their own individuality. Modern people never hesitates to reveal their own individuality, they want to express their own individuality with more special method. They try to get the evaluation in which they are different from others expressing each individuality rather than a typical beauty. This phenomenon has changed modern people to do total coordination for total harmony through other styling factors such as accessories, hair and make-up as well as clothes simply. Accordingly the task of modern fashion industry is to research and suggest the performing method which can satisfy the emotion of customers and lead the fashion by providing the new fashion style. As mentioned above, various cultures and artistic details are represented with mixed aspect in modern society, these are expressed as a mixture where various factors are mixed and politics, culture, religion, values and arts are reflected in modern fashion. Maximalism representing maximum-oriented, extreme-oriented which has been highlighted in the 21th century shares its opinion with the life style which modern era orients in that it pursues other newness through the mixture of many expressional methods such as expansion, glamour, diversity and decorativeness. This study analyzed which natures Maximalism expresses through advanced research and how the expressional natures of Masimalism have been expressed to modern fashion since the 21th century through cases study. While the advanced study has remained just the analysis of expressional nature of Maximalism, this study intends to help the following study by making the work of art, searching the performance direction of new styling of design which applied the expressional nature of Maximalism through styling. For this purpose, this study researched the factors and the expressional method which are required to the concept of fashion styling, the area and role of fashion stylists and fashion styling through various reference documents and advance study data. Also we considered the concept and the background of occurrence, materialized the expressional natures of Maximalism fashion. Based on the studies of case analysis of fashion styling factors and Maximalism fashion, we manufactured total 18 items, 5 accessories, 3 shoes to suggest total 6 styling works of art. We concluded as follows through theoretical investigation, manufacturing and the suggestion of styling expression method. First, fashion styling means the interpretation to show its visual image, the task of modern fashion industry is to express new image by effectively harmonizing the factors of accessories, items, hair, make-up, background and model. As the method in which common people having interest to fashion can easily access, new fashion industries have been developed including fashion blogger, application in which fashion styling is available and fashion information delivery program. Second, we can find out from the advanced study that modern Maximalism was started pursuing a sort of fun to bail out Minimalism which have pursued simplicity and brevity, expansion, decorativeness, mixed nature, non-structural nature have been expressed to describe such properties. Third, we could enlarge and exaggerate the silhouette such as ruffle, frills, bows which are the detailed parts of item. The expressional method are roughly divided into the way to enlarge and exaggerate the silhouette size or overlapping while maintaining the structure of clothes, and the way to exaggerate the size of ornament details. Fourth, we can emphasize decorativeness with necklace, belt and shoes manufactured by beads. We can find out that decorativeness of overall styling can be maximized by wearing accessories after designing and manufacturing accessories with color divided beads matching to 3 themes. Fifth, We can express the mixture of unisex and materials of over 2 kinds by mix-matching the male material and female material with different feeling, the coordination between male items such as coat, vest and female items such as blouse, dress. Sixth, we expressed the make-up as a cold and pale image by using white color as main color inspired by the make-up method of Rococo era when people painted whiteface to such a degree that blood vessel looks blue. For hair styling, we can emphasize the exaggerated and decorative image by fluffing the silhouette of both up style using hair thing and pony tail style with back comb inserted. Seventh, selecting the models with unisex feeling in accordance with the nature of study theme, we conducted the photo shooting, induced the movement of model so that overall atmosphere, silhouette, rich details of clothing items can be expressed well. Also we can find out that the performing ability of model and model selection of proper imaged model are the important factor for the styling photo shooting during these works. As above, we can research that the expressional natures of Maximalism are composed of the mixture of various direction factors, various and unique image can be express by creative design and styling method. The works of art in this study were applied and manufactured by the part of various natures of Maximalism, we expect that another styling method will be suggested through more developed study taking this study as a momentum and differentiated styling research of Maximalism will be continuously developed.
