청소년체험활동 만족도가 사회적 위축에 미치는 영향

Abstract

This study aims at examining the direct effect of the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity and its indirect effect via the self-esteem and sense of community on social withdrawal of adolescents. Hence, data on 1,367 adolescents who participated in adolescent experiential activity were used for analysis from「2010 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey; KCYPS)」, particularly from the third year(2012) data for the 1st graders of a middle school by National Youth Policy Institute. As for data collected, descriptive statistics, correlation and structural equation model analyses were conducted using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs. Research findings are as follows. Firstly, the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity had no direct effect on social withdrawal of adolescents. Secondly, the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity had an indirect effect on social withdrawal via the self-esteem. In other words, adolescents having higher satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity showed higher self-esteem, resulting in lower social withdrawal. Thirdly, the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity had an indirect effect on social withdrawal via a sense of community. It means that the higher adolescents perceive the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity, the higher sense of community, they have along with lower social withdrawal. Finally, the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity had an indirect effect on social withdrawal via the self-esteem and a sense of community. It reveals that adolescents having higher satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity have higher self-esteem and a sense of community, causing a lower level of social withdrawal. In conclusion, this study identified that the satisfaction of adolescent experiential activity increases personal self-esteem and a sense of community meaning respect for a group and its members to which individual belong, decreasing social withdrawal of adolescents. It is expected that these research findings will be used as basic data for developing a sophisticated counseling and intervention program for adolescents who experience social withdrawal.;본 연구의 목적은 청소년체험활동 만족도가 청소년의 사회적 위축에 미치는 직접적 영향과 자아존중감과 공동체의식을 통해 미치는 간접적 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한「2010 한국아동·청소년패널조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey; KCYPS)」중1패널의 3차년도(2012) 조사자료 중 청소년체험활동 참여 경험이 있는 청소년 1,367명의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 청소년체험활동 만족도는 대상 청소년들이 중학교 입학 이후 건강/보건 활동, 과학/정보 활동, 교류 활동, 모험/개척 활동, 문화/예술 활동, 봉사 활동, 직업체험 활동, 환경보존 활동 및 자기(인성)개발 활동으로 구분되는 9개 영역의 체험활동에 만족한 정도를 측정하였고, 자아존중감은 Rosenberg(1965)의 자존감 척도를 번안한 고려대학교 부설 행동과학 연구소(2000)의 문항을 사용하여 측정하였으며, 공동체의식은 권혜원(2004)의 민주시민의식 조사문항을 수정·보완한 척도를 사용하였다. 사회적 위축은 김선희와 김경연(1998)이 개발한 척도의 문항을 수정·보완한 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 21.0프로그램을 사용하여 기술통계, 상관관계분석, 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년체험활동 만족도는 사회적 위축에 직접적인 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 청소년체험활동 만족도는 자아존중감과 공동체의식을 통해 사회적 위축에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 청소년체험활동 만족도가 높은 청소년은 자아존중감과 공동체의식이 높게 나타났으며, 이는 낮은 수준의 사회적 위축으로 이어졌다. 종합해 보면, 본 연구는 청소년체험활동 만족도가 개인 자신에 대한 존중감을 나타내는 자아존중감과 개인이 소속한 집단 및 집단의 구성원에 대한 존중을 나타내는 공동체의식을 향상시킴으로써 청소년의 사회적 위축을 감소시키는 효과를 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 고급화된 청소년 프로그램 개발 및 사회적 위축을 경험하는 청소년들을 돕기 위한 상담 및 중재 프로그램의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
