카오스(chaos) 이론을 바탕으로 한 무용창작품 「파(波)」에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 카오스(chaos) 이론을 바탕으로 한 무용창작품 「파(波)」에 관한 연구이다. 이 작품은 2013년 12월 5일 이화여자대학교 무용관 홀Ⅰ에서 개최된 무용학과 실기석사 작품발표회에서 본 연구자에 의해 초연되었다. 작품「파(波)」는 하나의 파장이 꼬리의 꼬리를 물고 커져가는 미래를 예측 할 수 없는 앞날과 선택의 기로에 서있는 자아를 어떻게 형상화할 것인가에 대한 의문에서 출발하여, 컴컴하고 텅 빈 공간, 곧 혼돈(混沌)을 뜻하는 카오스 이론을 춤으로 형상화하였다. 따라서 본 논문은 카오스 이론이 작품에 어떻게 나타나는가에 대한 연구를 통해 작품과 이론 간의 상관성을 규명하는데 목적을 둔 연구이다. 따라서 본 연구자는 카오스 이론과 관련된 문헌을 통해 이 이론이 갖고 있는 특성을 살피고, 이론의 본바탕인 혼돈이라는 개념을 세부적으로 분석하여 연구를 진행하였다. 작품 분석은 카오스 이론과 상관성 있는 예술작품에 나타나는 특징인 불규칙성, 비대칭성, 유기적 관계, 자기 유사성, 프랙탈 구조, 혼돈을 기준으로 두고, 작품「파(波)」의 의상, 오브제, 음악의 이미지를 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 이끌어 내었다. 첫째, 음악적 형식 ABA 구조를 통해 카오스 이론을 내용적으로 구분하여 ‘질서를 낳는 혼돈’이라는 의미를 담아냄으로서 이론과 작품 간의 상관성이 도출되었다. 둘째, 작품이 내포하고 있는 의미를 담아낸 의상의 사용에 있어서 ‘혼돈’이라는 이미지를 확대시켜 해석할 수 있다. 셋째, 오브제를 통해 혼돈속의 불규칙한 자아를 극대화시켜 시현할 수 있었다. 불규칙한 빨대들의 나열을 통해 혼돈스러운 자아를 표현할 수 있다. 결과적으로 무의식, 무질서의 재탐색을 통해 혼돈개념이 확립되었으며, 혼돈 속에서 발견한 질서를 낳는 혼돈을 통해 균형과 조화를 발견할 수 있다. 오늘날 우리는 살아가면서 수많은 선택의 기로에 서서 하나의 방향을 향해 달려간다. 알 수 없는 그 길을 향해 수많은 실패와 경험을 쌓으며 선택의 기로에 서서 고민하는 자아를 보게 된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 작품 「파(波)」를 통해 수많은 선택의 기로에서 혼돈으로 끝나는 것이 아니라 균형과 조화를 이루며 질서 있는 혼돈을 표현하고자 하였다. 이에 따라 균형과 조화를 이루며 선택의 기로에서 바람직한 방향을 모색하고자 하는데 본 논문의 의의가 있다.;This paper is a study of the creative dance piece "Wave (波)", which is based on the Chaos Theory. This piece was premiered in December 5, 2013 by the author at Ewha Woman’s University Dance Performing Hall 1 as a Master’s thesis in practical presentation. The dance piece “wave” illustrated Chaos Theory with the wave that expands by chasing tail to tail that begins with the unpredictable and indecisive self to dark and empty room, to express the idea of chaos. In order to maximize the representation of Chaos Theory, one large frame was constructed. Thus the purpose of this paper’s research is to establish the correlation between theory and dance pieces by investigating how Chaos Theory was expressed in the dance piece. Hence, the research was conducted by literature review on the Chaos Theory, in order to examine the characteristics of the theory and to analyze the basis of the concept in detail. based on costumes, objet, and musical images of the dance piece "Wave (波)”, the analysis of Chaos Theory based dance pieces, which signifies disoriented and dissymmetry, systematic relation, self-similarity, fractal structure and chaos, have concluded as follows. First, by selecting characteristic contents of Chaos Theory through musical form ABA structure, the dance piece indicated ‘chaos conceiving harmony’ which establishes the correlations between theory and dance piece. Second, it was possible to interpret the images of ‘chaos’ broadly from the costumes as they are connotations of the dance piece. Third, it was able to maximize reveal of disordered ego within chaos through objet. It was feasible to express chaotic ego with lines of disordered straws Therefore, the concept of chaos was defined through research of unconsciousness and disordered, the blance and harmony can be found from chaos conceiving orders that is discovered in chaos itself. Today humans make their ways with many given choices. Making undiscovered way with countless failures and experiences, agonizing self can be seen standing in front of choices. Thus this paper, through the dance piece "Wave (波)”, expresses the idea of chaos having balance and harmony in front of choices, not ends with chaos itself. This paper signifies the idea of searching optimal choices with balance and harmony.
