로니 참피친파(Ronnie Tjampitjinpa)의 회화를 응용한 패션디자인 연구

Abstract

현대사회가 발전하면서 패션은 다양한 영역을 접목시키며 예술적 발전을 이루어 왔다. 그 중 회화가 가지고 있는 특성은 패션디자인 세계에서 다양한 감성의 영감이 되고 있다. 또한 디지털과 IT의 미래적 디자인이 새롭게 대두되고 있는 최근 패션에서도 이러한 회화적 특성을 도입하면서 독특한 질감표현과 문양 개발의 방법으로 프린팅, 실크스크린, 염색, 자수, 장식 봉제 기법 등의 다양한 수공예적인 기법들이 지속적으로 활용되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 원시미술의 일부인 호주 원주민 회화의 특징인 선적 이미지를 표현하기 위하여 로니 참피친파의 회화 모티프를 패션디자인에 응용하고자 한다. 틴가리족에 대한 신성한 의미를 담고 있는 로니 참피친파 회화의 모티프는 색상의 대비차이를 사용하여 선을 구성하고 이 선을 이용해 형태를 만든다. 이러한 선적 회화의 특징을 가장 잘 표현한 기법으로는 디지털프린팅, 염색, 코드 파이핑, 자수 등이 있으며 본 작품에서는 그 중 코드 파이핑 기법을 사용한다. 로니 참피친파 회화의 특징인 겹동그라미선을 비롯한 자유로운 곡선과 반복적인 수직, 수평 방향의 직선으로 구성된 독특한 형태의 모티프들을 코드 파이핑으로 표현하여 모던하면서도 절제된 형으로 장식적인 부분을 가미하고자 한다. 이를 통해 로니 참피친파의 회화에 대한 선적 이미지 구성과 시각적 질감 효과를 코드 파이핑 기법을 이용해 패션디자인 표현 영역을 확대하는 것에 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 내용 및 방법은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 로니 참피친파 회화의 작품세계를 작품에서 가장 많이 나타난 3개의 주제로 나누어 살펴보고, 문헌 자료와 선행연구들을 토대로 각 주제의 조형적 특성에 대해 알아본다. 둘째, 호주 원주민의 회화를 응용한 현대 패션디자인의 사례를 서구 디자이너와 호주 디자이너로 나누어 살펴보고, 참고문헌을 토대로 파이핑 기법의 개념과 종류를 알아보며 그 중 코드 파이핑 기법이 응용된 현대 패션의 사례들을 인터넷 검색을 통해 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 토대로 로니 참피친파의 선적 모티프를 재해석한 본 연구자의 디자인과 코드 파이핑 기법을 결합하여, 시각적 재질감을 효과적으로 나타내고자 한다. 작품은 총 6점으로 구성하였으며 베스트 1점, 롱코트 2점, 원피스 4점으로 7점의 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 로니 참피친파의 회화에 나타난 선적 이미지는 시각적으로 율동감과 리듬감이 잘 나타나 미적 부분을 구현하기에 용이함을 확인 하였다. 둘째, 작품의 색채에 있어서 로니 참피친파는 바탕색과 코드 파이핑의 색채 대비로 인해 선적 구성이 강조되는 효과를 주고 있다. 주제별 색채분석을 통해 로니 참피친파가 자주 사용하는 기본색인 W, Bk, R, Y 색상을 이용하여, 작품의 선적 이미지의 구성과 조밀한 간격의 선 반복으로 인한 재질 부각이 더 잘 나타남을 확인 하였다. 셋째, 로니 참피친파의 회화는 섬세한 이미지를 가지고 있으나 본 작품에서는 색채 대비를 강화하고 굵은 선을 사용한 결과 시각적 효과가 강화됨을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 작품의 기법에 있어서 코드 파이핑 기법을 사용하였으며 코드 파이핑의 색상을 단색으로 처리하여 선이 강화되는 효과와 시각적 재질감을 느낄 수 있었다. 본 연구는 로니 참피친파 회화의 모티프를 재해석하고자 하였으며 회화가 가지고 있는 조형성을 코드 파이핑 기법을 응용하여 의상으로 제작하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 선 형 모티브의 재구성이 곡선의 반복과 형태미의 움직임을 극대화시킬 수 있음을 확인하였고, 다양한 표현방법과 기법이 적용된다면 패션의 영역에 있어 무한한 가능성을 볼 수 있을 것으로 보인다.; According to the development of modern society, fashion made artistic development by incorporating various fields. Specially, characteristics of paintings are becoming the inspiration in the fashion design world. Among them, characteristics of painting are providing various inspiration in the fashion design world. Also, as digital and IT futuristic design newly emerged in latest fashion, various handicraft techniques as printing, silk screen, dyeing, embroidery, and decorative sewing technique are being used continuously for unique texture expression and pattern development methods by introducing these pictorial characteristics. Therefore, this study intends to apply painting motif of Ronnie Tjampitjinpa on fashion design to express linear images, a pictorial characteristic of Aborigine of primitive art. Motifs in painting by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa containing sacred meaning of Tingari tribe compose lines using color contrast and create shapes with these lines. Techniques that best represented these characteristics of linear painting are digital printing, dyeing, cord piping, and embroidery, and the work used cord piping technique. This study intended to add modern and restrained decorative parts by expressing unique form composed with characteristics of Ronnie Tjampitjinpa as layers of circle lines, free curve, repetitive horizontal and vertical straight lines using cord piping. The purpose of this study is to expand the expression realm of fashion design through composition of linear image in paintings by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa and using cord piping technique through visual texture effect. The contents and methods of this study are as follows. First, this study selected Ronnie Tjampitjinpa's oeuvre and classified into 3 major topics that mostly appeared in his artwork, and investigated formative characteristics of each topic based on literature materials and preceding researches. Secondly, cases of modern fashion design which applied paintings of Aborigine were classified into western designer and Australian designer, and intends to investigate the concept and type of piping technique based on reference literatures and search for cases of modern fashion which applied the cord piping technique through internet. Based on such findings, this study intends to express visual fabric texture effectively by combining the researcher's design with reinterpreted linear motif of Ronnie Tjampitjinpa with the cord piping technique. The artwork is composed of total 6 pieces, and total 7 pieces of 1 vest, 2 long coats, and 4 dresses will be produced. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was identified that linear images in paintings by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa are easy to body out aesthetic side because rhythmic sense in his paintings is well expressed visually. Secondly, in terms of color of artworks, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa gave the effect of emphasizing linear composition through color contrast of the ground color and cord piping color. Through color analysis by topic, it was identified that fabric quality emerged more strongly through composition of linear images and compact interval of repetitive lines by using basic colors as white, black, red, and yellow that Ronnie Tjampitjinpa often used. Thirdly, paintings by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa have delicate images, but it was identified that using strengthened color contrast and thick lines can strengthen visual effect through this artwork. Fourthly, cord piping technique was used for the artwork, and felt the effect of strengthened lines and visual fabric texture by treating the cord piping with a solid color. This study intended to reinterpret motifs of paintings by Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, and to make clothe by using formativeness of paintings through cord piping technique. Through this process, it was verified that the recomposition of linear motif can maximize the repetition of lines and movement of physical beauty, and fashion can have infinite potentials if various expression methods and techniques are applied.
