자유학기제 제 1차 연구학교를 중심으로 한 음악 프로그램 분석 연구

Abstract

‘자유학기제’는 학생들이 시험부담에서 벗어나 ‘꿈’과 ‘끼’를 발견할 수 있도록 다양한 체험활동과 진로 활동을 강화하고 학습방법을 학생 참여형으로 개선하여 새롭게 시도되는 교육제도이다. 본 연구의 목적은 2013학년도 2학기, 자유학기제를 운영한 전국의 중학교 42개교 1차 ‘연구학교’의 운영 보고서를 대상으로 음악에 ‘꿈’과 ‘끼’가 있는 학생들을 위해 어떤 ‘음악 프로그램’이 제공되었는지 분석하여 2016년 전면 시행될 자유학기제를 위한 보완점과 개선점을 제시하는데 있다. 본 연구의 활용된 연구 보고서의 자료 수집방법은 자유학기제 온라인 정보시스템(http://freesem.moe.go.kr)의 센터 발간자료에 탑재되어있는 42개교 운영 보고서를 바탕으로 진행되었다. 문헌연구를 위해 자료를 수집하고 분류하는 과정을 거쳐 결과를 도출했으며, 분류 및 해석의 단계에서 분류의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 자유학기제 지원센터 연구원, 서울시 교육청 자유학기제 담당 공무원, 경남소재 A중학교 자유학기제 담당교사, 서울소재 B중학교 자유학기제를 경험한 음악교사에게 유선으로 확인했다. 그리고 자유학기제 연구학교 지원센터 중 음악 강사를 지원해주는 한국문화예술진흥원 학교 지원팀과의 유선연결을 통해 강사 지원 방안을 면담했다. 이후 음악 교육 전문가의 검증 및 조언을 바탕으로 퇴고했다. 연구 문제인 자유학기제 연구학교의 ‘운영모형’과 음악활동이 운영되는 ‘자율 과정’인 예술·체육활동, 진로탐색활동, 학생선택프로그램, 동아리 활동을 토대로 분석(음악프로그램, 방법 및 내용, 교·강사 운영현황)한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자유학기제 연구학교는 교육부에서 제시한 ‘운영 모형’을 토대로 교육과정을 운영했다. ‘운영 모형’은 주로 오후시간(5-7교시)에 운영되는 자율과정의 ‘예술·체육활동’, ‘진로탐색활동’, ‘학생선택프로그램’, ‘동아리 활동’을 중심으로 편성된다. 교육적 목적과 운영 여건에 따라 모형의 운영이 자율적이며 이 중 진로탐색활동(21.4%)활동과 예술·체육활동(16.6%)이 많은 비중을 차지한다. 학교 마다 운영모형을 유연하게 운영했음을 관찰 할 수 있다. 둘째, 예술·체육 활동에서 음악프로그램이 운영된 학교는 40개교로 뮤지컬제작, 병 플룻 만들기 등의 프로그램을 교과융합과 1인 1악기, 프로젝트 등의 개발된 형태로 운영했다. 기악·창작 영역을 중심으로 하는 협동학습, 표현·실습활동을 바탕으로 ‘학생 체험형 활동’이 시행되었으며, 학교 교사가 수업을 주도해서 프로그램을 운영했다. 셋째, 진로탐색활동 중 음악 프로그램이 운영된 학교는 22개교로 진학탐방, 명사특강과 창작(영상사운드 제작 등)·생활화(공연관람 등)를 바탕으로 운영되었다. 체험활동 및 특강청취의 교수·학습방법과 외부강사의 주도로 활동이 진행되었다. 넷째, 학생 선택프로그램 중 음악 프로그램이 운영되는 학교는 13개교로 학생들의 적성과 흥미를 적극 반영한다. 뮤지컬, 보컬 등의 프로그램이 표현 활동과 협동학습 등의 교수·학습 방법을 통해 ‘기악’, ‘창착’ 영역을 바탕으로 교사 주도로 운영되었다. 다섯째, 동아리 활동 중 음악프로그램이 운영된 학교는 28개교로 기타, 밴드 등의 기악영역을 바탕으로 한 프로그램이 표현활동, 협동학습 등의 교수·학습 방법을 활용하여 외부강사 주도로 운영되었다. 여섯째, 자유학기제 연구학교는 학생들에게 다양한 체험과 활동을 제공하기 위한 방안으로 중앙정보부처와 시·도 교육청의 지원을 받아 학교별 체험기관을 발굴했다. 외부 기관과의 협력을 통한 체험활동의 성격은 주로 ‘진로 활동’(학과 탐방)과 ‘공연 관람’(뮤지컬, 음악회)등이었고 악기 체험과 뮤지컬 제작 등 소수의 음악활동이 제공되었다. 이를 분석한 결과 음악 프로그램들은 ‘학생 활동’ 중심의 실습 활동과 협력학습으로 운영되었다. 자율과정의 음악 활동들은 학생들의 ‘수요’를 통해 운영되고 있었고, 일반학기에 운영되던 음악 교과의 운영에서 학교별로의 교육과정 재구성을 거친 변화를 관찰 할 수 있었다. 이러한 활동이 자유학기제만을 위해 한시적 활동으로 제한 될 것이 아니라 다양한 음악 교육과정으로 보급 될 필요가 있다. 한편 학생 선택 프로그램과 동아리 활동은 이름이 다르게 명시 되었을 뿐 세부적인 사항에서 음악 프로그램(기타, 뮤지컬, 컵타)의 성격이 겹치고 있는 것을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 따라서 각 활동 안에 음악 프로그램의 특징이 명확하게 나타나고 보완되어 학생들에게 제공되어야 할 필요가 있다. 위와 함께 다양한 체험 활동을 제공하기 위해 ‘전문 인력’으로 배치할 수 있는 ‘상설’교육기관 설립 방안을 추가로 제안하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구를 통해 2016년 전면 시행될 자유학기제의 음악활동 운영에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.;The purpose of this study is intended to present complements and improvements to free learning semester fully implemented in 2016 by analyzing what ‘music program' was provided for students who had ‘dream' and ‘talent' for music in the management report of the 1st 42 ‘pilot schools' among junior high schools all over the country, which implemented the free learning semester in the second term, 2013. With regard to the data collection method of research report utilized in this study, data were collected on the basis of management reports of 42 schools, which were uploaded in the center-published materials of free learning semester online information system(http://freesem.moe.go.kr). For literature review, results were produced through the process of collecting and classifying data. And in order to verify the validity of classification at the stage of classification and analysis, a researcher in free learning semester Support Center, a public official in charge of free learning semester in Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, a teacher in charge of free learning semester in “A” junior high school located in Gyeongnam, and a music teacher who had experienced the free learning semester in “B” junior high school located in Seoul was telephoned. We talked about an instructor support plan over the telephone with school support team, Korea arts & culture education service that supported music instructors among free learning semester research school support centers. After that time, it was polished on the basis of music education expert's verification and advice. The results of analysis (music program, method and contents, teacher·instructor management status) on the basis of club activity, program selected by students, career exploration activity, and art·physical activity, a 'autonomous course' where music activity is conducted, and the 'implementing model' of free learning semester research school are as follows. First of all, the free learning semester research school implemented a curriculum on the basis of ‘implementing model.' ‘Implementing model' is organized, focusing on the club activity, program selected by students, career exploration activity, and art·physical activity of autonomous course implemented mainly in the afternoon (5th-7th hour). The implementation of model is autonomous according to the educational purpose and implementation circumstance. And among them, career exploration activity and art·physical activity accounts for a large part. It is possible to observe that each school flexibly implemented the implementing model. Second, there were 40 schools that implemented a music program in art·physical activities. And programs such as producing a musical and making a bottle flute were implemented in the developed type of 1 person - 1 musical instrument project and curriculum convergence. An 'activity of student experience type' was conducted on the basis of expression·practicum activity and cooperative learning that focused on instrumental music·creation area. And a teacher implemented the program, leading the class. Third, there were 22 schools that implemented a music program among career exploration activities. And it was implemented on the basis of creation (such as producing video sound) · making a habit (such as watching a performance), prominent figure's special speech, and a visit to school of higher grade. The activities were carried out by the teaching·learning method of listening to a special speech and experience activity under external instructor's initiative. Fourth, there were 13 schools that implemented a music program among programs selected by students. And students' aptitude and interest is actively reflected. Programs such as a musical and vocal were implemented under teacher's initiative on the basis of ‘instrumental music', ‘creation' area through the teaching· learning method of cooperative learning, expression activity, and so on. Fifth, there were 28 schools that implemented a music program among club activities. And programs based on instrumental music such as guitar and band were implemented under external instructor's initiative, utilizing the teaching·learning method of cooperative learning, expression activity, and so on. Last, the free learning semester research schools were supported by the ministries and offices of the central government and discovered an experience institution according to each school, as measures for providing various experiences and activities for students. With regard to the characteristics of experience activities through cooperation with external institutions, they mainly consisted of ‘career-related activity (a visit to departments at university),' watching a performance (musical, concert), and so on. And a small number of musical activities such as musical instrument experience and musical production were provided. According to the results of analysing these, a music program was implemented as ‘student activity'-centered practicum activity and cooperative learning. The musical activities of autonomous course were implemented through students' ‘demand'. And it was possible to observe a change through curriculum reconstruction according to each school in the implementation of music curriculum that had been implemented in the ordinary semester. This activity needs to be spread as diverse music curriculum, not being limited to an activity that assumes a one-time characteristic for free semester only. On the other hand, except that a program selected by students and club activity was named differently to each other, it was possible to observe that characteristics of music program (guitar, musical, cup beat) overlapped each other as to the details. Within each activity, the characteristics of music program needed to be clearly shown, and to be complemented, and then to be provided for students. Together with the above suggestion, it is intended to additionally suggest a plan for establishing a 'permanent' educational institution where ‘professionals' can be placed in order to provide various experience activities. Therefore, it is expected to be helpful to implementing the music activity of free learning semester which will be put into operation in 2016 through this study.
