국내 노인 음악교육 실태와 피아노 교육의 활성화를 위한 제언

Abstract

Notwithstanding generalization of elderly culture and arts education enough to operate culture and arts education programs in the majority of elderly welfare facilities in South Korea, various programs and high quality music education are not being achieved at present. Further, although the elderly population is rapidly increasing, the research on music education for the elderly is not actively being carried out, and accordingly, diverse music education programs for the elderly are not developed and detailed guidelines are not prepared. In this research, needs assessment was conducted on music education of the elderly, intended for 331 elderly people currently participating in music education of elderly welfare facilities, and an individual interview was conducted on instructors and learners by sitting in group piano classes and observing them. The findings of survey research demonstrated that the elderly nowadays have positive perception on music education and also have a great interest in and passion on piano playing. This research considered piano teaching method suitable for education fields of the elderly based on literature research, research study, and field teaching experience. It is important to consider physical, psychological, and social characteristics of the elderly to teach piano to them, and apply their needs to teaching. Furthermore, emotional, affective approach will enhance the level of learning satisfaction in teaching the elderly. For the proposal for revitalizing elderly music education and piano pedagogy, financial restrictions will be resolved with assistance of musical instrument commerce associations or manufacturers, churches, or schools, and more specialized education will be provided through association with universities. It is hoped that professional piano educators will develop teaching materials considering the characteristics of the elderly and re-educating the instructors of them by studying music and piano education for the continuously growing elderly generation in order to more greatly revitalize music and piano pedagogy for the elderly in South Korea.;우리나라는 현재 대부분의 노인 복지시설에 문화예술교육 프로그램이 운영되고 있을 정도로 노인 문화예술교육이 보편화되었지만, 아직 다양한 프로그램과 질 높은 음악교육은 이루어지지 않고 있다. 또 노인의 인구가 급격히 늘어나고 있는 추세임에도 불구하고 아직 노인 음악교육에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있지는 않으며, 다양한 노인 음악교육 프로그램의 개발이나 세부적 지침이 마련되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 현재 노인 복지관의 음악교육에 참여하고 있는 노인 331명을 대상으로 노인의 음악 교육에 관한 요구조사를 실시하였고 그룹 피아노 프로그램 을 참관하여 관찰하고 강사와 학습자들을 개별 면접하였다. 본 조사연구를 통하여 현재 노인들은 음악 교육에 대해 긍정적인 인식을 가지고 있고, 피아노 교육에 대해서도 큰 관심과 열정을 가지고 있음을 알게 되었다. 본 연구는 문헌 연구, 조사연구, 현장 지도 경험을 바탕으로 노인 교육현장에 적합한 피아노 교수방법을 고찰하였다. 노인에게 피아노를 지도할 때에는 노인의 신체적, 심리적, 사회적 특성을 고려하여야 하며, 노인들의 요구를 반영하는 것이 중요하다. 또 노인을 지도할 때에는 기술보다는 감성적이고 정서적인 접근이 학습 만족도를 높일 수 있다. 노인 음악 교육과 피아노 교육의 활성화를 위한 제안으로는 악기상거래협회 또는 악기 제작사, 교회, 학교 등과의 협력으로 경제적인 제한점을 해결할 수 있으며, 대학과의 연계를 통해 보다 전문적인 교육을 제공할 수 있게 할 것이다. 전문 피아노 교육자들이 지속적으로 늘어나는 노인 세대에 대한 음악 교육과 피아노 교육에 대해 연구하여 노인의 특성을 고려한 교재의 개발과 강사의 재교육이 이루어져서, 우리나라의 노인 음악 교육과 피아노 교육이 더욱 활성화되기를 기대한다.
