국내외 시장 연결망이 한국 산업의 이익률에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 논문은 국내외 시장 연결망이 산업의 이익률에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 세계화가 진행되면서 생산시장 간의 경계가 무너지고 한 나라의 개별 산업들은 한 국가의 경제에 내재되어 있는 동시에 더 큰 규모의 체제 안에 배태되는 일종의 이중배태(double embededdness)의 형태를 가지고 있다. 더욱이 한국의 경우 대외의존도가 높은 나라이므로 산업을 분석할 때 외국과의 무역을 반드시 고려해야할 필요성이 있다. 이를 위해 국제 무역연결망을 구성하여 한국이 국제시장에 배태된 정도를 알아보고 이를 고려하여 구조적 공백(structural holes)의 역할에 대한 버트(Burt)의 연구를 우리나라의 경우로 확장시켜 보았다. 우리나라 산업 연결망에서 구조적 공백은 두 가지의 형태로 드러나는데 첫 번째는 산업간 구조적 공백이고 두 번째는 산업 내 구조적 공백이다. 산업 간 구조적 공백은 사회 연결망 분석을 투입산출표에 적용하여 도출할 수 있고 산업 내 구조적 공백은 시장집중도를 통해 측정할 수 있다. 이 두 차원의 구조적 공백의 효과가 외국시장에 배태된 정도에 따라 어떻게 변화하는지 그리고 이것이 한국 산업에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 선형회귀분석을 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과는 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째로 산업 간 구조적 공백의 효과는 거의 드러나지 않았고 둘째로 산업 내 구조적 공백은 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 마지막으로 국제시장에 배태된 정도가 높아지면 이익률에 대한 산업 내 구조적 공백의 영향력은 줄어드는 것으로 드러났다. ; This paper analyzes the roles of domestic and foreign market networks to the industrial profit rates. As globalization is in progress, barriers between international production markets are lower. And individual industries in a country are inherent to that country’s economy and at the same time are embedded to a larger scale system as a form of double embeddedness. Moreover, since Korea has a high foreign dependency, when analyzing industries, foreign trade must be considered. For this, international trade networks must be made to analyze the degree of embeddedness of the domestic market in the international market. With considering this fact, we have extended Burt’s study on the role of structural hole to Korea’s case. There are two forms of structural hole in Korea’s industrial network. The first form is the structural hole inter-industries and the second form is the structural hole within industries. Structural holes among industries can be calculated by applying social network analysis to the input-output table. And structural holes within industries in this paper are measured by the market concentration ratios. we analyze how the influences of two dimensions of structural holes changes according to the degree of embeddedness in the foreign market and how it affects the Korean industries by linear regression method. The results can be summarized as follows. First, the effect of structural hole among industries was almost insignificant and second, there was a significant effect of the structural holes within industries. Third, it showed that the effect of structural hole within industries to the profit rate decreased when the extent of embeddedness in the foreign market network was strong.
