성인 초기의 결혼관과 연애관 분리에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 비혼·만혼 세대의 상징인 성인초기 세대가 결혼으로의 이행을 지연하는 현상에 대해 심층적 원인을 알고자 하는 것에서 시작하였다. 본 연구의 대상자들은 역사적으로 가장 결혼에 대한 태도와 성의식이 자유로운 세대이다. 그러나 이들은 자신의 가치관을 스스로 완전히 정립하지 못하여 분리와 혼재상황을 겪고 있다. 결혼은 개인의 의지적 선택만 작용 하는 게 아니라 사회 구조적 영향도 받기 때문에 만혼과 비혼의 요인은 지금까지의 선행연구의 주요 연구결과인 경제적 요소라는 단일한 문제가 아닐 것이라 전제하였다. 본 연구에서는 비경제적요인의 영향력을 알아보기 위해 낭만적 사랑, 가족주의, 사회규범의 카테고리로 설정하였다. 연구의 진행방법은 SPSS 18.0 로 기술통계를 실시한 양적 연구 방법과 심층적 의미와 보완을 위해 개별 인터뷰를 통한 질적 연구 방법 을 함께 사용하였다. 연구결과, 성인초기 세대가 연애와 결혼에 있어 갈등과 혼란을 느끼고 선택을 지연하는 원인은 양립할 수 없는 경제적 요인과 비경제적 요인의 가치관이 우선순위 없는 혼재 상태임을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 연구결과인 성인초기 연애관과 결혼관의 혼재상태에 대한 세부적 사항은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성인초기 구성원들은 사랑을 결혼의 기초로 생각하지만 사랑만 결혼의 조건으로 생각하지 않는다. 성인초기의 구성원들은 모두 성장과정에서 외환위기를 겪어왔고 대학시절에는 미국 발 경제위기 또한 겪어왔다. 그러한 경험들이 연애에 있어서는 낭만적 사랑만을 우선순위에 두고 자유로운 태도와 개방적인 생각에 영향을 주었지만, 결혼이라는 전제가 생길 경우에는 객관적이고 보수적인 태도를 보이는 결정적 원인이 되었다. 그러나 이러한 내적 갈등이 낭만적 사랑과 결혼을 완전히 분리하는 단계까지 이르지 못했다. 둘째. 연애와 결혼에 대한 목적과 기대의 차이로 인한 차별적 태도를 보인다. 연구대상자들은 연애에서 결혼으로 이어질 수 있는 결혼 적령기의 연령이지만 연애의 결론을 반드시 결혼이라 생각하지 않는다. 아니다. 요즘 청년세대에게 연애는 여가활동과 다름이 없다. 그러나 연애와 결혼의 연결 가능성이 높은 성인 초기세대의 연애에 대한 생각은 이중성을 가지고 있다. 이런 요소 간의 영향 때문에 연애와 결혼의 가치관은 혼재 상태로 있다. 셋째. 결혼에 있어 가족 가치관이 매우 중요한 판단 요소가 된다. 성인 초기 미혼 남녀들은 합리적인 결혼 과정을 추구한다. 그러나 부모가 여전히 자녀세대의 결혼에 주도적 역할을 하는 우리 사회에서 결혼은 가족과 가족의 만남이라 생각하기 때문에 가족 모두가 동의하는 결혼이 개인의 행복도 좌우한다고 여긴다. 개인의 행복을 추구하는 것을 우선시하며 살아왔던 세대가 결혼 선택 과정에서는 가족주의 태도를 보이게 되는 것이 이들의 혼란의 주요 원인 중에 하나가 된다. 넷째. 결혼에 있어 사회가 설정한 규범인 사회의 인식과 역할에 대한 규범들이 성인초기 세대들에게 결혼으로의 이행을 요구하고 있음을 인지하고 영향을 받으나 본인의 가치관을 포기하지 못한다. 사회의 규범에 완전히 자유롭지 못한 이들은 구조적 압력 안에서 개인의 가치관을 고수하고자 노력함으로 결혼 선택을 지연한다. 본 연구를 통해 성인초기 세대들이 결혼을 지연하는 이유는 이들이 양립하기 힘든 결혼의 가치관인 경제적 요인과 비경제적 요인을 동시에 결혼과정에 통합되기를 바라기 때문임을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구는 저출산 시대에 미래의 부모세대들이 결혼 선택과정이 길어지고 비혼을 선택하고 있는 것은 경제적 문제라는 단일한 이유가 아니라, 낭만적 사랑, 가족주의, 사회 구조로 대변되는 비경제적 요인이 포함되어 결혼관과 연애관의 갈등이 태도의 분리 경향와 혼재 현상을 보여준다는데 의의가 있다.;This study was begun to examine in-depth causes of the phenomenon that early adult generation of a symbol of non-marriage·late marriage delays transition to marriage. Research subjects are a generation having the most liberal marriage attitude and sexual consciousness historically. However, they are in a separated and mixed situation since they have not established their values completely. Marriage is influenced socio-structurally in addition to effect of individual selection of the will, so this research postulated factors of late and non-marriage are not a simple issue of economic elements found out from precedent studies so far. In order to identify influence of non-economic factors, this research set categories of romantic love, familism and social norm. As for the research methods, quantitative research through descriptive statistics using SPSS 18.0 and qualitative research through individual interview for in-depth significance and complement were used. Research topics are as follows. The reason why early adult generation feels conflict and confusion in love and marriage and delays the selection is that values of incompatible economic and non-economic factors exist together without priority. Detailed findings are as follows. Firstly, early adult members regard love as a basis of marriage but it is not only condition of marriage. Every early adult member suffered a currency crisis in their growth process and experienced an economic crisis resulted from USA in their college life. Such experiences had an effect on their free attitude and opened idea while prioritizing romantic love. However, under the premise of marriage, it became a definite cause of showing an objective and conservative attitude. However, they didn't reach the step separating romantic love from marriage completely by such internal conflicts. Secondly, they show a differentiated attitude by difference in object and expectation of love and marriage. Research subjects, though they are at the marriageable age that can be connected to marriage from love, don't think the conclusion of love is necessarily marriage. On the contrary, for these days' young generation, love is as good as leisure activities. However, idea about love has duality for the early adult generation having a higher possibility of connecting love with marriage. Under the influence of such elements, values of love and marriage come to be mixed. Thirdly, marriage is not separated from family values. Early adult single men and women pursue a rational marriage process. They show a negative attitude on the conspicuous wedding culture that excessive gifts are exchanged and have a desire for marriage of rational consumption. However, in our society parents still take an initiative role in their children's marriage, they regard individual happiness depends on marriage every family member agrees since they think marriage is meeting of both families. One of major causes of their confusion is because they show an attitude of familism in the selection of marriage though they are the generation prioritizing in pursuit of personal happiness. Fourthly, as for marriage, early adult generation recognizes that norms on social recognition and roles set by a society impose them to marry but can't give up their values. Those who aren't free from social norms completely make efforts to stick to individual values under the structural pressure so delay the selection of marriage. Research findings show that the reason early adult generation delays marriage is that they desire to be integrated into the marriage process despite incompatible economic and non-economic factors. This study has significance in that it showed late and non-marriage of the future parent generation in the low fertility age is not only economic problem, containing non-economic factors of romantic love, familism and social structure so they cause conflicts between values of marriage and love, showing a phenomenon of separated and mixed values.
