대학생의 가족 간 의사소통과 갈등해결전략이 이성관계 만족도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 대학생 커플의 가족 간 의사소통이 이성관계 만족도에 미치는 직접적 영향과 갈등해결전략을 통해 이성관계 만족도에 미치는 간접적 영향을 살펴보고, 그 경로에서의 자기효과와 상대방효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 서울, 인천 및 대전에 위치한 대학교에 재학 중인 148쌍의 대학생 커플로 질문지법을 이용한 자기보고를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 대학생 커플의 가족 간 의사소통은 Ritchie와 Fitzpatrick(1990)의 개정된 가족 간 의사소통 유형 척도(Revised Family Communication Patterns Scale; RFCP)를 박수원(2003)이 번안한 것을 사용하여 측정하였다. 갈등해결전략은 Rahim(1983)의 갈등해결전략 척도(Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory; ROCI-II)를 Wilmot과 Hocker(2001)가 수정하고 홍종배(2006)가 번안한 것을 사용하였다. 마지막으로 이성관계 만족도는 Bowden(1977)의 결혼만족도 척도(Marital Satisfaction Scale; MSS)를 이인수와 유영주(1986)가 한국의 상황에서 미혼의 남녀 관계의 질을 측정하기 적합하도록 재구성한 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석하기 위하여 SPSS 19.0 프로그램을 사용하여 t 검정 및 상관관계분석을 실시하였고, AMOS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형(Structural Equation Modeling; SEM)을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생 커플의 가족 간 의사소통이 이성관계 만족도에 미치는 직접적인 경로에서의 자기효과와 상대방효과와 관련하여, 남학생의 가족 간 의사소통은 자신의 이성관계 만족도에만 직접적인 영향을 미쳤고, 여학생의 가족 간 의사소통은 상대방의 이성관계 만족도에만 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 대학생 커플의 가족 간 의사소통이 갈등해결전략을 통해 이성관계 만족도에 영향을 미치는 간접적인 경로에서의 자기효과와 상대방효과와 관련하여, 남학생의 가족 간 의사소통은 자신의 갈등해결전략을 통해 자신의 이성관계 만족도에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤지만, 여학생의 가족 간 의사소통이 갈등해결전략을 통해 이성관계 만족도에 미치는 간접적인 영향은 나타나지 않았다. 즉, 남학생의 경우에는 가정에서 개방적이고 자유로운 의사소통을 할수록 긍정적인 갈등해결전략을 사용하였으며, 긍정적인 갈등해결전략을 사용할수록 이성관계 만족도가 높았다. 반면에 여학생의 경우에는 가정에서 사용하는 의사소통이 자신과 상대방 모두의 갈등해결전략에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났지만, 긍정적인 갈등해결전략을 사용할수록 자신의 이성관계 만족도는 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생 커플의 가족 간 의사소통이 갈등해결전략을 통해 이성관계 만족도에 영향을 미치는 경로에서 자기효과와 상대방 효과를 확인하였다. 또한 대학생 커플의 이성관계 만족도의 선행 요인으로 환경적 요인인 가족 간 의사소통과 개인 내적 요인인 갈등해결전략의 영향력을 밝힘으로써, 이러한 요인들이 이성관계 만족도에 중요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이와 더불어 여학생보다는 남학생의 환경적 요인과 개인적 특성이 자신의 이성관계 만족도에 더 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나, 양자관계에서의 남녀 차이를 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 대학의 커플/집단 상담 장면 및 예비부부교육 등의 현장에서 커플 간에 발생할 수 있는 어려움을 해결하고, 이를 예방하기 위한 일환으로 커플 간 건강한 갈등 해결 및 관계 증진이나 예비부부교육 등의 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.;The main purpose of this study was to examine direct and indirect effects (through resolving strategies) of undergraduate couples’ family communication pattern on romantic relationship satisfaction. To test the hypothesized model, the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model(APIM; Kenny, 1996) was applied to simultaneously analyze the actor and partner effects. A total of 148 undergraduate couples living in Seoul, Incheon and Daejeon participated in this study. They responded to questions regarding their family communication style, conflict resolving strategies and romantic relationship satisfaction. The main results of this study were as follows: First, for men, family communication had a direct effect on his romantic relationship satisfaction. But for women, family communication had a direct effect on partners’ romantic relationship satisfaction. Second, for men, family communication had an indirect effects on his romantic relationship satisfaction through his conflict resolving strategies. But for women, family communication did not have an indirect effect on romantic relationship satisfaction. Men whose family used open and unconstrained communication resolved conflict more positively, and as they adopted more positive conflict resolving strategies, they reported higher levels of romantic relationship satisfaction. However, women’s family communication did not have significant effects on her or partner’s conflict resolving strategies, but women who have positive conflict resolving strategies reported higher levels of romantic relationship satisfaction. In conclusion, this study considered both undergraduate couples’ family communication and conflict resolving strategies in predicting romantic relationship satisfaction, and identified actor and partner effects. Findings from this study provide implications for future research and practice that are designed to improve couples’ romantic relationship satisfaction.
