창에 비친 도시의 이중적 정서를 표현한 패턴 작업

Abstract

The city that we are surrounded by, is a space of a culture and consumption and life it self. Through the window that forms the major scenery in urban area, we could peep into the human alienation in the artificial beauty and material affluence, and dual feelings of the city just like the society that is subordinated to images. Both of the window that reflects splendid scenery of the city and that reflects the lose of modern people's identity in the isolated city, are definitely reflecting the same space but they carry out on a role of a media which applies on the city's dual feelings by reflecting different aspects. Therefore, the researcher of this thesis wanted to suggest the solubility of a new pattern by adding variety into the relations of the two images, after reanalyzing the ambidextrous spaciality of the window that's been gazed from the interior and exterior after expressing the dual image of the city that's been reflected from buildings as a reiteration of the two patterns through the overlapped fabric. The context of the research is as follows. First, through theatrical research, the definition of the city sentiment which has been observed through the window has been established in a subjective point of view, by dividing each of the city sentiment. Second, after examining the cases that utilized image reiteration and textile, a study has been made on the possibility of producing the design that applies them. Third, through detailed cases that has been examined from the above, they have been materialized after developing them into an artwork by suggesting new designs that are differentiated from the existing ones. Fourth, as a method of the design, it has been expressed as a one design by overlapping two patterns, and have constructed the textile design by creating pattern which has been transformed from various repetition based on picture. The results that has been obtained through the art work production is as follows. First, it has been studied on the idea and characteristic of the city and window, and the relations between the two, and has selected the reiteration of the design through overlapped fabric as a expression method according to that. Second, by materializing the dual feelings of the reflected city that dominates the scenery of the city, a suggestion has been made on the design of the unique feelings by constructing textile design after transforming its form and structure in the motive of reflected city that dominate the city's scenery. Third, by expressing the dual feelings of the reflected urban space through two overlapped patterns which utilized layered fabric, it was possible to reinterpret them into a new image that has geometrical and subdued mood. Through this research, the researcher have suggested a new solubility through reiteration of two images with the reinterpretation of the city image as a design combination that utilized overlapped fabric. Also the researcher was able to realize on the potential and the infinite development possibilities of the design that utilized reiteration, through examination of the various cases and design studies. While wishing for the infinite development of the design that's been done by the reiteration, the researcher hopes for the 8 suggested artwork to be continued as a active study of the related field.;우리를 둘러싼 도시는 현대인에게 일상의 토대를 이루는 삶의 공간이자 문화의 소통과 자본의 소비를 이끄는 중심공간과도 같다. 현대인이 바라보는 도시 경관은 끊임없이 변화하는 시대의 흐름을 따라 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 도심을 이루는 고층빌딩은 끊임없이 변화하는 현대사회의 정서를 반영하여 때로는 인공적인 화려함과 물질적 풍요 속 현대인의 고독과 정체성의 상실 등 사회구조의 모순을 드러내기도 한다. 본 연구자는 이러한 도시의 이중적 정서를 도시경관의 주를 이루는 건물의 창에 반사된 이미지로 재해석하여 표현하고자 하였다. 창에 반사된 이미지를 통해 도시의 이중적 정서를 표현하고자 했던 이유는 창은 내부이면서도 외부와 같은 이중적인 구조를 가지고 있기 때문에 이러한 창의 양면적 공간성이 도시의 이중적 정서를 반영한 매개체로서의 역할을 수행 할 수 있을 것이라 여겼기 때문이다. 화려한 도시경관을 비추는 창과 소외된 도시 공간 속 현대인의 정체성의 상실을 비추는 창은 분명 같은 공간을 비추고 있으나 서로 다른 면을 투영하여 반사함으로서 도시의 이중적 자아를 보여준다. 따라서 본 연구자는 건물들의 창에 비친 도시의 이중적 이미지를 천의 겹침을 통한 두 가지 패턴의 중첩으로 표현함으로서 내부와 외부에서 바라본 창의 양면적 공간성을 상징적 이미지로 재해석하여 두 이미지 관계에 변화를 주어 새로운 패턴의 해석 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 논문의 주제인 도시의 정서를 알아보기 위해 현대사회 속 도시의 변화와 현대인의 관계를 연구하였다. 둘째, 도시 속 이미지 중첩의 사례와 섬유를 이용한 중첩의 사례를 살펴보고 이를 응용한 디자인 제작 가능성을 연구하였다. 셋째, 위에서 살펴본 구체적 사례들의 분석을 통해 기존과 차별되는 새로운 디자인을 제시해 작품으로 발전시켜 구체화하였다. 넷째, 디자인 방법으로는 두 가지 패턴을 중첩시켜 하나의 디자인으로 표현하였고, 사진을 바탕으로 다양하게 반복, 변형시킨 패턴을 창조하여 텍스타일 디자인을 구성하였다. 이와 같은 작품제작을 통해서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 도시와 창의 개념과 특징, 그리고 둘 사이의 연관성을 연구하고 그에 따른 표현 방식으로 천과 천의 겹침을 통한 디자인의 중첩을 선택하였다. 둘째, 창에 비친 도시의 이미지를 중첩으로 표현한 사례연구를 분석한 결과 사진과 어패럴에서 창에 비친 도시 이미지를 중첩으로 표현한 사례를 찾아 볼 수 있었지만, 그 외의 분야에서는 건물의 창에 비친 도시의 이미지를 중첩을 통해 표현한 사례가 많지 않다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 창에 비친 도시의 이미지를 중첩으로 표현한 텍스타일 디자인에 대한 발전 가능성이 있음을 나타낸다. 셋째, 창에 비친 도시의 이중적 정서는 도심 속 특정한 사물이나 풍경을 상징적으로 재해석하여 구체화 하였고 이를 모티프로 형태와 구조를 변형시켜 규칙성을 가지고 기하학적 구조로 반복되는 추상적 디자인을 제시하였다. 넷째, 창에 비친 도시공간의 이중적 정서를 천의 겹침을 이용한 두 패턴의 중첩을 통해서 표현함으로서 기하학적 패턴들이 은은하게 어우러지며 몽환적인 느낌을 주는 새로운 이미지로 재해석할 수 있었다. 본 연구자는 본 연구를 통해 천의 겹침을 이용한 디자인의 결합으로 도시 이미지를 재해석함으로서 두 이미지의 중첩을 통한 새로운 해석의 가능성을 제시하였다. 또한 사례조사와 디자인의 연구를 통해 창에 비친 도시 이미지를 중첩으로 표현한 디자인의 잠재성과 무한한 발전 가능성을 알게 되었다. 본 연구자의 창에 비친 도시의 이중적 정서를 중첩으로 표현한 디자인 8점이 관련 분야의 활발한 연구로 이어지는 계기가 되기를 바란다.
