긍정적 양육행동의 세대 간 전이와 민주적 양육신념에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 어머니의 성장기 긍정적 양육경험이 긍정적 양육행동에 미치는 직접적 영향과 민주적 양육신념을 통한 간접적 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울시 및 경기도에 위치한 5곳의 어린이집에 재원 중인 만 3-5세 유아 206명(남아: 106명, 여아: 100명)의 어머니들을 대상으로 질문지법을 사용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 어머니의 성장기 긍정적 양육경험은 이선희(2012)의 양육행동 척도를 회고식으로 수정하여 측정하였다. 민주적 양육신념은 Buri(1991)가 개발한 부모 권위 질문지(Parent Authority Questionnaire; PAQ)를 김연실(2010)이 번안한 척도를 기초로 측정하였으며, 긍정적 양육행동은 이선희(2012)의 양육행동 척도를 나지혜(2012)가 유아기에 맞추어 수정한 척도를 이용하여 측정하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석을 위해 SPSS 21.0과 AMOS 21.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관관계 분석, 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 성장기 긍정적 양육경험은 긍정적 양육행동에 직접적 영향을 미쳐, 어머니가 성장기에 긍정적 양육을 경험하였을수록 긍정적으로 자녀를 양육하였다. 즉, 성장기에 자신의 어머니로부터 친밀함과 애정을 많이 느끼고, 이해 가능한 논리적인 설명을 통해 지도를 받은 어머니들은 훗날 부모가 되었을 때, 자신이 받은 양육행동을 모델링하여 자녀를 온정적으로 대하고, 합리적인 설명을 통해 긍정적으로 양육하였다. 둘째, 어머니의 성장기 긍정적 양육경험은 민주적 양육신념을 통해 긍정적 양육행동에 간접적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 즉, 어머니들이 성장기에 긍정적 양육을 경험하였을수록 양육신념이 민주적이었으며, 양육신념이 민주적일수록 자녀에게 긍정적인 양육을 하였다. 자신의 어머니로부터 온정적 양육을 경험하고, 논리적인 설명을 통해 지도받은 어머니들은 민주적인 양육신념을 형성하였으며, 자녀에게 합리적이고, 분명한 방향을 제시하면서도 따뜻하고, 일관된 방식으로 양육하고자 하는 이러한 신념은 자신이 부모가 된 후, 자녀를 긍정적으로 양육하는 데 있어 기반이 되었다. 종합해 보면, 본 연구는 양육행동 유형이 정립되는 시기인 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니들을 대상으로 긍정적 양육행동의 세대 간 전이의 구조적 관계에서 인지적 변인인 민주적 양육신념의 매개적 역할을 살펴봄으로써 긍정적 양육행동이 이루어지기 위해서는 성장기의 긍정적 양육경험 뿐 아니라 바람직한 양육신념이 선행되어야 함을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 자녀양육에 어려움을 겪는 부모들을 대상으로 한 상담을 포함하여 부모가 가정에서 보다 건강하고, 행복하게 자녀를 양육할 수 있도록 돕기 위한 부모교육 프로그램의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.;The main purpose of this study was to examine the effects of maternal positive childhood parenting experience and authoritative parenting belief on positive parenting behavior. A total of 206 mothers of 3-5 years preschool children (106 boys and 100 girls) living in Seoul and Gyounggi province responded to questionnaires, which included items related maternal positive childhood parenting experience, authoritative parenting belief, and maternal positive parenting behavior. The data were analyzed by correlations and Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) using SPSS 21.0 and Amos 21.0 program. The main results of this study were as follows: First, maternal positive childhood parenting experience had a direct effect on positive parenting behavior. The more mothers experienced positive parenting experience in their childhood, the more they brought up their children positively. Second, maternal positive childhood parenting experience had an indirect effect on positive parenting behavior through authoritative parenting belief. The more mothers experienced positive parenting experience in their childhood, the more their parenting belief was authoritative, and the more mothers' parenting belief was authoritative, the more they brought up their children positively. In summary, the present study confirmed that the mediation role of authoritative parenting belief in the relations between maternal positive childhood parenting experience and positive parenting behavior. In addition, these findings have implications for future research and practice by emphasizing the importance of maternal positive childhood parenting experience and authoritative parenting belief in developing parent education and counseling programs for positive parenting.
