Abstract

클로드 드뷔시(Claude Achilles Debussy)는 고전, 낭만으로 대표되는 음악사에 인상주의라는 새로운 족적을 남긴 것으로 유명하다. 하이든, 모차르트, 베토벤과 같은 독일, 오스트리아 출신의 작곡가들은 당대 음악사에 절대적인 영향력을 새겨 놓았고 이러한 토양은 리하르트 바그너라는 걸출한 인물에 이르러 절정에 다다랐다. 이러한 독일 문화권의 음악 지배에 반기를 든 인물이 드뷔시였으며 그는 음악을 이전의 질서와는 다른 방식으로 제어해 나가기 시작했다. 특히 화성 사용에 있어서의 자율성 추구와 각 악기의 음색에 귀를 기울이는 접근법으로 기존 음악과 차별화를 한 것은 인상주의라는 새로운 사조가 자리잡는데 결정적인 역할을 하였다. 악곡에 대한 새로운 접근법도 주목할만한 부분이나 하프와 드뷔시와의 관계는 실로 밀접한 것이었다. 드뷔시의 음악에서 하프는 여러 가지 면에서 매혹적인 모습을 보여주었으며 이는 악기에 대한 새로운 평가에 일조하였다. 1904년 작곡된 ‘Danses Sacrée et Profane’은 드뷔시가 남긴 대표적인 하프 연주곡이며 지금까지도 지속적으로 연주되고 있는 하프의 주요 레퍼토리로 자리잡은 곡이기도 하다. 총 2악장 구성인 이 곡에서 드뷔시는 우아함과 경쾌함의 대비, 하프라는 악기에 대한 충분한 음악적 이해를 보여주고 있다. 본 논문에서는 하프라는 악기에 대한 새로운 시각을 제시한 드뷔시의 하프 작품 중 ‘Danses Sacrée et Profane for Harp and Strings’를 분석하는 과정을 통하여, 드뷔시의 하프 사용 접근법에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다.;Claude Achille Debussy is a famous French composer in musical history, in the age of Classicism and Romanticism He left a significant mark by exploring an entirely new field which is called Impressionism. Before Debussy, there had been famous composers from Germany and Austria such as Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. They had had great influence in the history of music, and this tendency had reached the climax with the prominent German composer, Richard Wagner. Debussy was the one who revolted against this kind of musical dominance. He started to control music in a different way from previous orders. Debussy's new approach to existing instruments is remarkable. In particular, he played a decisive role to make Impressionism plant itself as a new trend by pursuing autonomy in the use of unique harmony as well as concentrating on the tone of each instrument. Above this, it is also important to study Debussy’s large interests on harp. Indeed, Debussy used harp very attractively in his music. I aimed this paper to examine Debussy's approach to the use of harp, especially by analyzing Sacrée et Profane for Harp and Strings, one of his works which present a new perspective about harp. Danses Sacrée et Profane which was composed in 1904 is the representative work of Debussy, and it has become a main repertoire as being continuously played until now. This music is made up of two movements and shows an contrast of elegance and liltingness, and a full tonal understanding of harp. It is considered to be important to discuss this tendency in this thesis.
