조시아 웨지우드와 도자기 생산 산업화

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 거꾸로 교실을 통하여 역사를 이해하고 역사적 사고력 및 창의력을 함양하는 데 있다. 거꾸로 교실이란 전통적인 역사 수업 방식이었던 교실에서의 교사와 학생의 교수․학습활동이 교실의 제한된 공간을 벗어나 학생이 원하는 시간과 장소에서 학습이 이루어지고 교실에서는 학생 중심의 활동이 주로 이루어지는 것이다. 즉 교실에서 이루어지던 지식 전달의 시간이 사전 학습 시간으로 옮겨감에 따라 수업 시간에는 보다 다양한 학생 중심의 활동이 가능해진 것이다. 거꾸로 교실을 구현하기 위한 자기주도적인 사전 학습 자료로서 교사가 손쉽게 제작할 수 있는 터치스크린 전자책 아이북(ibook)을 제작하였다. 아이북은 아이북스 오서(iBooks Author)라는 제작 툴을 이용하면 한글 문서와 같이 누구나 쉽게 제작할 수 있다. 텍스트뿐만 아니라 동영상 및 그림 및 퀴즈 등 다양한 자료가 삽입될 수 있다. 또한 여러 학습 지원 기능까지 더하여 터치스크린 전자책인 아이북은 학생들의 자기주도적 학습을 가능하게 해 줄 것으로 기대된다. 물론 애플사의 아이패드 및 맥북에서만 구현되는 제한점이 있지만 PDF파일로 변환시킬 수 있기 때문에 인터넷 환경만 갖추어진다면 어느 누구나 쉽게 접근할 수 있다. 거꾸로 교실의 학습 주제로는 중등학교의 역사교과 내용 중 산업혁명을 선택하였고 이 중에서도 일반적으로 역사교과서에서 제시되는 내용이 아닌 도자기의 산업화를 이끈 조시아 웨지우드를 중심으로 하였다. 웨지우드는 기존의 전통적인 도자기 제작 방법의 틀을 깨고 새로운 기술을 가지고 조직적인 생산 및 마케팅 기법을 적용하여 산업혁명이라는 시대적 흐름에 부흥하여 도자기 산업을 일으키게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 학생들이 터치스크린 전자책 ‘산업혁명과 조시아 웨지우드’를 가지고 자기주도적인 사전 학습이 이루어질 것이다. 이 전자책은 산업혁명이라는 시대적 흐름 속에서 웨지우드가 어떻게 도자기를 산업화 시켰는지의 내용을 담고 있다. 학교 교실의 수업에서는 사전 학습된 지식을 바탕으로 이를 문제 상황에 적용해 보고 해결하는 과정을 거치고 학생들이 웨지우드의 회사를 운영해보는 활동을 계획하였다. 이 과정을 통해 산업혁명에 대하여 올바르게 이해하고 학생들의 역사적 사고력 및 창의력을 기르고자 하였다.;The purpose of this study is to understand history and enhance the historical thinking ability and creativity through the teaching learning activity, which is called‘flipped classroom model’. The flipped classroom inverts traditional teaching method : With teacher-created E-book and videos, instruction is taken at home in advance of class and they can learn through their activities in the classroom. In other words, learning environment could be possible to have more personalized guidance and interaction with students as turning lecture into student-oriented activity. E-book application which is called ibooks was made for the self-directed learning materials to realize‘flipped classroom model’. ibooks could be easily produced by iBooks Author which is likely to the program‘Hangeul’. It is possible to insert a diversity of material such as video clips, pictures, formative evaluations as well as text on ibooks. In addition to multi-study support, it could be expected to go on self-directed learning. Even though it is limited to be activated by IPAD or MacBook, it is possible to convert to PDF file where it could easily access to internet. The Industrial Revolution covered by a secondary-school history curriculum was selected as a teaching-learning topic for the flipped classroom model, especially it is focused on Josiah Wedgwood who is an English potter credited with the industrialization of the manufacture of pottery. He had improved ceramic industry with the Industrial Revolution and applied the organized productions and marketing methods breaking the traditional ceramics industry. Accordingly this study shows that the students have a self-direct learning with ibooks, ‘the Industrial Revolution and Josiah Wedgwood’. Based on a learned problem-solving skill through online class at home, the students are expected to simulate to manage Wedgwood Company for their own in the classroom. Therefore, this study aims to have students generally understand Industrial Revolution and enhance historical thinking ability and creativity.
