선의 모티브를 축융과 슬래쉬기법으로 표현한 패브릭디자인

Abstract

선은 인간의 본능에 의해 상징적으로 사용되어진 최초의 수단이었다. 그것은 근원적이고 순수한 질서를 지닌 가장 기본적인 자연현상이었다. 오늘날의 선이 가지고 있는 상징은 조형적, 시각적, 철학적 해석을 바탕으로 그 의미가 다양해지고 있다. 이러한 다양한 해석을 가진 선은 예술가와 디자이너의 감성에 민감하게 반응하고, 집중하게 한다. 그들은 선이 생명력과 감정을 지니고 있고 가장 구체적으로 대상과 의사를 섬세하게 표현 할 수 있는 언어적 기능이 있는 조형요소라고 믿기 때문이다. 또한 그들은 다양한 재료와 표현 행위를 통해서 선을 단순하게 요약하기도 하고 때로는 구체적으로 드러내는 소재로 선을 사용하여 독창적인 작품을 만들어 낸다. 이에 본 연구자의 표현의 동기가 되어주는 선은 조형요소로의 시각적 형태 그 이상으로써 동양의 측면에서 바라보는 선, 즉 내면의 탐구와 자기성찰을 위한 무수한 수련과정이다. 그리고 모든 예술의 근원이 되는 또 하나의 자연의 형상을 유추하게 하여 그 자체로도 완벽하고 아름다우며 무한한 생명력과 감정을 지니고 있다는 것에 초점을 두고 내면을 탐구하고자한다. 또한 본 연구자는 섬유 표현에 있어서 양모의 축융과 슬래쉬 기법을 함께 사용함으로써 두께를 형성하고 깊이를 포함한 촉각적 재질을 가진 선으로 표현하여 질감적 효과를 통해 차별화 된 선을 제시하고자 한다. 본 논문의 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 선의 해석과 의미에 대해 연구해보고, 선의 다양한 해석과 의미의 측면에서 본 연구자의 감성을 표현한다. 둘째, 선을 가지고 작업한 미술가, 패션디자이너 그리고 섬유작가들의 사례를 조사함으로서 그들의 또 다른 측면의 선을 해석한다. 셋째, 양모의 축융성을 이용하여 작업한 섬유작가와 슬래쉬 기법을 이용한 섬유작가의 사례를 조사함으로서 그 기법들의 미적가치를 해석한다. 넷째, 양모의 축융과 슬래쉬 기법을 이용한 두 가지 기법을 함께 사용함으로써 실험적이고, 개성 있는 부조적인 독창적인 선으로의 가치를 창출한다. 마지막으로 개성 있고 실험적인 섬유표현이 국한된 디자인을 넘어 예술로서의 가치와 발전 가능성을 알아본다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구의 모티브로서의 선은 조형요소로서의 시각적 형태 이상의 다양한 의미를 가지고 현대예술가들이 가장 구체적으로 대상과 의사를 표현 할 수 있는 생명력과 감정을 지닌 조형요소임을 확인 할 수 있었다. 둘째, 본 연구자는 양모의 축융과 슬래쉬 기법을 이용한 두 가지 기법을 함께 사용함으로써, 개성 있는 부조적인 선을 만들었다. 셋째, 반복과 중첩에 의한 제작행위는 동양적 측면의 선의 의미가 가진 내면의 탐구와 자기성찰을 위한 수련과정이 되었다. 또한 그 행위는 투명성을 가진 시각적 확장 효과를 만들었다. 넷째, 실험적인 섬유표현을 한 디자이너와 섬유예술가의 사례를 조사함으로써 섬유라는 소재가 창의적이고 국한된 디자인을 넘어 예술로서의 가치와 발전 가능성을 엿볼 수 있었다. 선. 그것은 예술 그 이상을 표현하는 언어이다.;Lines were the first means symbolically used by human instincts. They were basic natural phenomena assuming a primordial and pure order. Today, the symbolism of lines are diversified semantically based on their formative, visual and philosophical concepts. With such diversified meanings, lines induce artists and designers to become sensitive to and focused on aesthetic sensibilities. For them, lines embrace life and emotion as formative components equipped with linguistic features that enable the most specific and elaborate expressions of objects and intentions. Also, lines in association with personal acts of expression and various materials outline inner worlds, whilst sometimes creating works of originality in combination with specifically revealing materials. In this experimental study, wool fulling and slash technique converge on textile expression, with a view to presenting differentiated lines with a tactile quality of thickness and depth as well as textural effects. The present study concerns the following points. First, the sensibilities of the investigator are expressed in detail from the perspectives of philosophical concepts and meanings of lines by researching on the concepts and meanings of lines. Second, cases of artists, fashion designers and textile artists are investigated to translate different aspects of their lines. Third, cases of textile artists using milling properties of wool and slash technique are studied to analyze their aesthetic values. Fourth, wool fulling and slash technique are combined to create experimentally original lines of individuality and relief. Finally, aesthetic values and potentiality of the experimental textile expression of individuality that goes beyond limited design are examined. Below are the findings of this study. First, lines as the motives for this study are formative components assuming life and emotion capable of expressing objects and intentions of modern artists most specifically as well as Oriental and Western philosophies beyond simple visual forms. Second, lines of relief and individuality can be created by combining wool fulling and slash technique. Third, the lines of relief create a transparent 3D space via iterative and overlapping acts of production. Fourth, the case studies of designers and textile artists show that creative and experimental textile expressions could go beyond limited design in favor of artistic values and potentiality. Lines are languages capable of expressing what goes beyond art.
