가스통 리테즈(Gaston Litaize)의 ‘프렐류드와 댄스 푸가 (Prélude et danse fuguée)´ 분석과 음색연구

Abstract

본 논문은 20세기 프랑스를 대표하는 맹인 작곡가이자 오르가니스트인 가스통 리테즈(Gaston Litaize, 1909-1991) 오르간 음악 연구이다. 20세기 프랑스 오르간 음악은 후기 낭만주의의 지나친 주관적 감정의 과다 표출에 대한 반발로 18세기 고전 시대의 음악적 특징인 대위법적인 짜임새와 절제되어 있는 분명한 온음계적인 선율, 조화와 균형 안에 철저한 객관성을 추구하였다. 그러나 단순히 고전 시대 음악의 부활을 의미하는 것이 아니라 그 당시 음악의 간결한 형식미에 새롭고 다양한 음악적 시도가 이루어진 것이다. 당시 작곡가들의 작품을 살펴보면, 장조와 단조를 바탕으로 조성의 개념을 확대시켜 고정된 음계에서 벗어나고 여러 가지 선법을 사용한 무조성의 음악과 정형화된 박자의 탈피, 전자 음악 등 현대 음악적 어법을 고전 음악 형식에 다양하게 접목시킨 이른바 신고전주의 양식의 특징을 살펴 볼 수 있다. 신고전주의 작곡가 리테즈 작품 『프렐류드와 댄스 푸가』(Prélude et danse fuguée)는 프렐류드와 푸가라는 명확한 고전주의 형식의 틀을 선택하였으나 다양한 현대 음악 기법들 중 클러스터를 사용하므로 그 내용면에서는 실험적인 음악을 작곡하였음을 보여준다. 또한 당김음 사용과 특징적인 리듬 분할로 후반부로 진행 될수록 곡의 긴장감을 더하였고 호모포니(Homophony)적인 성격으로 발전시키며 풍부한 화성감으로 화려하게 곡을 마무리 했다. 또한 리테즈는 동시대의 맹인 작곡가이자 오르가니스트였던 루이 비에른(LouisVierne, 1870-1937)과 장 랑글레(Jean Langlais, 1907-1991)와 같이 그들만이 가진 더 섬세한 감각으로 탁월한 연주를 한 연주자로도 유명했고, 현재 프랑스 오르간계을 이끌고 있는 많은 제자를 배출한 교육자로, 인생의 대부분을 교회에서 오르가니스트와 예배 음악을 담당하는 음악인으로서의 삶을 살았다. 이와 같이 리테즈는 20세기 프랑스 오르간 분야에서 다양한 활동을 하였고 특히, 그 당시 많은 작곡가들이 시도했던 다양한 작곡 방식들 중에서도 신고전주의 양식을 선택하여 작곡하였으며,『프렐류드와 댄스 푸가』는 신고전주의 음악의 특징을 잘 나타내고 있다.;Gaston Litaize (1909-1991) was a representative blind composer and organist of 20th century of France. The organ music of 20th century of France sought perfect objectivity in the contrapuntal organization, restrained clear diatonic tune ,harmony and balance which were characteristics of the 18th classicism as an opposition to excessive expressions of subjective feelings of latter romanticism. The concept of tonality was expanded based on the major and minor tonality of classicism along with the move to seek Classicism like Prelude, Fugue, Passacaglia, toccata, Suite and etc. And Neoclassicism style which combined with modern music styles like a breakaway of typical rhythm, electronic music and etc. including atonality which use various modes deviating major-manor scale. Litaize made his own music world in the time background. His music “Prélude et dance fuguée, 1964” was based on the definite Classicism like Prelude and Fugue. However, we can find out that he composed experimental music in content because he used a cluster technique which is a representative technique of modern music. We can find the cluster technique in the musics of György Ligeti (1923-2006) and Yoon Yi-sang(1917-1995). Litaize added tension on the music as the music progressed to the end part, by using syncopation and distinguishing rhythm division and added extravagance of the music with rich harmony sense by developing to the homophony characteristic in the atonality Prélude et dance fuguée. Litaize was famous as an improviser with more delicate sense like Louis Vierne(1870-1937) and Jean Langlais(1907-1991) who were blind organists. He was an educator who turned out many disciples who are leading organs in France now and lived a life as an organist and church musician who was in charge of worship song in the church for most of his life.
