G. Fauré의 La Bonne Chanson Op. 61에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 가브리엘 포레(Gabriel Fauré, 1845-1924)의 연가곡 <La Bonne Chanson> Op. 61에 관한 연구이다. 포레는 프랑스 음악의 고전성과 현대성을 함께 보여주는 작곡가로 이전 멜로디(Mélodies)들보다 정서의 범위를 확장하였고, 부드럽고 활력이 넘치며 완벽한 균형을 이룬 많은 작품을 써냈다. 포레는 60여 년에 걸쳐 예술 가곡을 작곡하여 100곡이 넘는 작품들을 남겼다. 그의 생애의 대부분의 기간에 걸쳐 예술 가곡을 작곡하였기에 이 장르를 통하여 그의 사상이나 감정이 잘 반영되어 있다고 볼 수 있다. 그는 문학에도 관심이 많아서 많은 시인들과도 교류를 나누었는데 당시 프랑스 시인들의 작품과 포레의 아름다운 멜로디와 화성이 조화를 이루며 많은 예술 가곡이 탄생하였다. 포레의 많은 예술 가곡 중 최고의 걸작인 연가곡 <La Bonne Chanson(다정한 노래)>은 총 9곡으로 구성되어있다. 이 연가곡은 폴 베를레느(Paul Verlaine, 1844-1896)의 같은 제목의 시집 『La Bonne Chanson』의 시를 선택하여 가사로 사용하였다. 베를레느는 당시 사랑으로 인한 행복한 감정으로 이 시를 작시하였는데, 포레 역시 사랑의 행복함을 가지고 이 연가곡을 작곡하였다. 그렇기에 이 작품은 가사와 선율을 비롯해 조성이나 빠르기에서도 행복한 감정을 표현하고 있으며, 연가곡의 모든 곡이 행복한 감정으로 일관되어 있다는 것이 주목할 만한 특징이다. 포레는 <La Bonne Chanson> Op. 61에서 5가지의 주제를 사용하여 작곡하였는데 이 주제들은 사랑하는 이를 상징하는 선율이나 새 소리, 태양이 떠오르는 모습 등을 표현하는 선율로 이루어져 있고 주로 반주에서 나타난다. 이 주제들은 각각의 곡에서 변형, 축소, 발전되어 다양하게 사용되며 9곡 전곡에 사용되어 연가곡의 통일성을 이룩하였다. 피아노 반주는 포레 특유의 7화음, 9화음을 사용하기도 하였고, 반음계나 온음계, 3온음(Tritone) 등을 사용하여 색채적인 화성을 표현하였다. 또한 동형진행이나 병행이 자주 사용되며 아르페지오 반주를 많이 사용하므로 곡의 일관성을 높이며 정리된 느낌을 더욱 갖게한다. 본 논문에서는 포레의 <La Bonne Chanson> Op. 61을 통해 그의 전 생애에 걸친 음악 양식의 변화와 작품 경향을 살펴보고, 이 작품의 분석을 통해 그의 삶과 그의 음악적 특성을 이해하고 이 작품을 연주함에 있어 도움이 되고자 한다.;This thesis is a study on Gabriel Fauré(1845~1924)'s song cycle <La Bonne Chanson> Op. 61. Fauré was a composer who showed not only classicality but also modernity of French music. He expanded the range of emotion than former mélodies and composed many musical works which had perfect balance of mildness and vitality. Fauré had composed more than one hundred works over sixty years. Art songs reflected his thoughts and feelings well since they were created during most periods of his life. He was so interested in literature that he interacted with poets of his time. Those poets' works and Fauré's beautiful melodies and chords were harmonized with each other, so that a lot of art songs were created. His best masterpiece of many art songs, a song cycle <La Bonne Chanson>, consisted of nine songs in total. The song cycle chose the poems from the collection of the same name by Paul Verlaine(1844~1896), 『La Bonne Chanson』, and used them as lyrics. At that time, Verlaine wrote the poems out of his happy feeling sprung from love, and Fauré also composed this song cycle with happiness of love. Accordingly, this work expressed happiness in the key or speed and had a remarkable characteristic in that it was consistent in happy emotion in terms of melodies and lyrics of all songs in this song cycle. Fauré used five themes in composition of <La Bonne Chanson> Op. 61, and these themes consisted of melodies symbolizing the loved one or describing the song of a bird or depicting rising sun, which were presented in the accompaniment. These themes were modified, reduced, developed and employed in various ways. These five themes were used in nine songs in this song cycle and achieved unity of it as a whole because all songs had correlation. Fauré used his unique seventh chord and ninth chord and put to use the chromatic scale, the diatonic scale and tritone in the piano accompaniment to represent colorful harmony. In addition, scale sequence and consecutive intervals were frequently used and a lot of arpeggio accompaniment increased the consistency of the songs, which made all songs organized. In this thesis, changes in the forms and the tendency of Fauré's music that had been made over his life will be examined through his works and this analysis can help to understand his musical characteristics as well as his life and play his works.
