Estimation of Fire Patterns in Korea using Credibility Theory

Abstract

In this project, we analyze the yearly fire patterns in Korea by regions from 1997 to 2012. Considering limited number of observations available for each region, classical estimation method for the average fire occurences may not be efficient. So we propose to use credibility theory to analyze the fire patterns. We use both full-partial credibility method and Bühlmann model, and compare their efficiency. As the result, we would be better to use Bühlmann model for prediction of each region.;본 논문에서는 한국의 1997년부터 2012년까지 매년 지역별 화재 패턴에 대해서 분석하였다. 각지역에 대한 제한된 관측치는 평균 화재 발생에 대한 고전적인 측정 방법이 충분하지 않았다. 그래서 화재 패턴을 분석하기 위해 Credibility theory 사용을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 사용된 방법은 Full-Partial credibility method 와 Bühlmann model 이며, 그들의 효율을 비교해보았다. 그 결과, Bühlmann model을 사용하는 것이 지역별 화재를 예측하는데 더욱 적합한 방법임을 알 수 있었다. 또한, Bühlmann model을 사용할 때, 화재건수와 화재피해액 각각에 다른 분포를 가정하여 값을 예측했다는 점에서 본 논문의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
