Abstract
機械文明의 發達과 科學技術의 飛躍的 發展으로 因한 人間性 喪失은勿論 精神的 安息마저 威脅을 느끼고 있는 現況 속에서 現代繪畵는 過去의 客觀的인 再現을 벗어나서 인간의 깊은 內面의 또 하나의 새로운 世界를 表現하고자 하였다. 본 作品은 도도한 物質文明에서 벗어나 새로운 삶을 渴望하는 人間에게 靈魂의 安息을 줄 수 있는 世界의 到來와 그에 對한 憧憬을 表現하고자 하였다. 또한 信仰人으로써 人間內面에 潛在하는 幻想的인 心象을 靈魂의 눈으로 感知하고 表出하려는 絶對的인 바램이 있는 것이다. 精神과 肉體, 意識과 無意識, 現實 世界를 超越한 Super-reality를 그리고 形而上學的인 畵面을 도입하여 喪失되어 가는 人間性의 回復을 表現해 보려고 하였다. 理論的 基般으로는 '수난의 그리스도'를 描寫한 'Miserere(=哀憐히 여기소서)의 精枾的인 內容을 中心으로 默想을 通한 主題와 內容에 對한 靈的體驗을 表出하려고 하였던 現代의 가장 偉大한 宗敎畵家로 認識되고 있는 Georges Rouault를 硏究하였다. 그리고 Chirico의 形而上學的 繪畵世界를 硏究함으로 現代의 狀況을 直視하고 人間의 孤獨과 不安 앞에 現代人의 精神的 狀況을 敏感하게 表視해 보려 하였다. 方法的인 面에서는 部分的으로 Chuck Close의 寫實的인 技法을 導入하여 나름대로의 心象을 表現하였다. Yves Tanguy의 宇宙的인 繪畵와 Chirico의 形而上學的 繪畵의 透視畵法 竝置法등과 Kay Sage의 超現實的 畵面을 硏究하여 人間 內部에 깊숙히 자리잡고 있는 領域을 追究하려 하였다. 人間內面의 아픔과 苦惱彷徨과 絶望 가운데서도 Idea의 世界로 向하는 切實한 바램을 表現해 보고자 하였다.;In reality in which we are losing spiritual rest not to mention the loss of humanity caused by the development of mechanical civilization and the progress of scientific technology, the modern painting intends to express another new world of deep human inner side, avoiding objective recopy of past painting. We come to know that it is art that can be a medicine for lost rest, mental diseases and spiritual decay. My work is intended to express not merely the arrival of a new world capable of providing spiritual rest for human-beings who are, trampled by materialistic culture, anxious for a new world but our desire of it. Furthermore, we have an absolute expectation to perceive with spiritual eyes and express a fantastic scenery left subconscious in ourselves and acquired through our spiritual experiences as worshipers. By introducing a super-realistic and metaphysical picture (screen) which has no limit between spirit and flesh, consciousness and unconsciousness, and a real world and surreal one, I intended to express the recovery of the humanity we are losing now. As for my theoretical base I tried to study Georges Rouault recognized as the greatest religious painter in the modern age who attempted to express spiritual experience through meditation over a subject and contents on the basis of the spirit of Miserere (= Oh Lord. Treat me humbly) depicting Jesus Christ in ordeal. By studying the world of the metaphysical painting of Chirico, I also made an effort to look straight forward at the situation of modern ape and describe delicately the spiritual situation (or mental condition) of contemporary men confronting human loneliness, unrest and void. In the methodical terms, I expressed the whole story I wanted to tell through the theoretical touch of Chuck Close. By working on the cosmic painting of Yves Tanguy, the transparent painting method and juxtaposing method of Giorgio do Chirico and the super-realistic screen (picture) of Kay Sage, I intended to dig out and depict the very domain deeply situated in the human inner side and tried to search for a breakthrough opening through which we can rest (or relax) in another new world of idea overcoming all pains and anguish, stray and dispair.
