고구려 고분의 영기문을 응용한 남성복용 아트패브릭 디자인

Abstract

문양은 오래 전부터 미적 추구의 대상으로서 시각적으로 다양하게 표현된 장식 미술의 산물이며, 인간은 그것을 위해 오랜 역사에 걸쳐서 혼신을 다하여 노력해왔다. 수많은 문양 가운데 영기문은 조형 미술의 전반에서 세계적으로 광범위하게 나타난 장식적인 요소로 큰 영역을 차지하고 있다. 사실적인 표현에서 단순화된 추상적인 표현에 이르기까지 유연한 곡선과 아름다움으로 세계인들이 역사적으로 즐겨 사용해 온 문양이다. 한국에서는 고대 고분벽화를 비롯하여 직물, 도자기 등 예술 전반에 나타나며 우리 민족의 삶 속에 깊게 자리 잡아 왔다. 섬유 디자인은 의복이나 실내공간에 아름다움을 가미하여 인간의 욕구를 충족하는데 그 목적이 있다. 고도화되고 복잡한 현대사회에서는 미적 욕구 또한 다양화되고 있으며 다채로운 표현 양식들이 이제는 당연시 되었다. 이러한 시대적 흐름의 영향으로, 패브릭과 아트의 만남으로 이해될 수 있는 아트패브릭 또한 고정적 관념에서 벗어나 자유로운 표현과 개성을 전달하는 매개체로 여겨지고 있다. 이 연구는 고구려 벽화에 나타난 영기문과 그 기본 표현원리를 살펴보고 고찰한 내용의 토대를 응용하여 공예적인 기법이 가미된 현대 남성복 용도의 아트패브릭을 개발하고, 이를 통해 전통문양을 적용한 현대의 남성복용 아트 패브릭 디자인을 제시함으로써 디자인 사고를 확대하는데 의의를 두고자 한다. 본 논문의 연구내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문헌 자료를 통해 영기문의 개념에 이어 고구려 고분 벽화에 나타난 영기문의 특성과 기본단위에 대해 조사, 정리하여 문양연구를 한 후 작품에 적용할 패턴을 연구한다. 둘째, 아트패브릭의 개념과 특성에 대해 고찰하고, 패브릭의 주 표현기법인 축융(Felting) 가공기법과 본딩(Bonding) 가공기법의 특성에 대해 살펴본다. 셋째, 고찰한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 8점의 남성복용 아트 패브릭을 제작하고 2점의 남성복을 제작한다. 이러한 연구 과정을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고구려 고분 벽화에 나타난 문양 가운데 문양전개의 기본단위가 되는 영기문을 패브릭 디자인의 기본 모티브로 활용하여 우리문양의 현대적 해석의 풍부한 가능성을 발견할 수 있었다. 둘째, 수공예적 가공기법을 활용하여 다양한 입체적 질감 효과를 표현함으로써 남성복용 패브릭 개발 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 실제 총 8점의 패브릭 개발 제작을 통해 고부가가치를 지닌 감성적 패브릭도 얼마든지 디자인할 수 있다는 가능성을 제시했다. 향후 본 연구자는 기본단위 형태인 영기문을 비롯하여 표현영역을 확대하여 우리 문양을 지속적으로 연구할 것이며, 이를 통해 우리 문양의 현대적 해석은 물론, 고부가가치를 지닌 남성복용 아트패브릭을 개발하고자 한다. 다양하고 창의적인 영역에서 디자인을 창출하고, 이를 가시화하는 것이야말로 우리에게 주어진 과제라고 생각한다.;The term, "pattern" has long been pursued aesthetically and expressed strongly from visual aspects. The pattern is a product of decorative art and humans have made all efforts over a long history. Of numerous patterns, especially the vine pattern is a decorative factor represented in all visual arts across the world. The vine patterns are characteristic of flexible curves and beautiful lines and thus enjoyed by Koreans to express from realistic works to simplified ones. In Korea, the vine patterns are shown in textiles, ceramics, arts such as the mural paintings of the ancient tombs and deeply rooted in the lives of Korean people. The purpose of textile design lies in satisfying people's desire by adding beauty in people or interior space. In the advanced and sophisticated modern society, aesthetic desires have been diversified, and various forms of expression are now taken for granted. Under the influence of this stream of times, art fabric, which can be interpreted as an "encounter between fabric and art", is deemed as a medium to deliver unrestricted expression and individuality, away from the stereotypes. This study aims to look at the expressional principles of the vine patterns observed in the mural paintings of Kokuryo ancient tombs, design fabrics for men's modern fabric wear, present fabric art design for men's wear with the traditional patterns, and finally broaden our way of design thinking. In this thesis, the configuration is as follows. First, the characteristics and expressional principles of vine patterns shown in the mural paintings of Kokuryo ancient tombs as well as the revealed concept of the vine patterns were summed up based on bibliographic data and some patterns for works were examined. Second, the concept and characteristics of art wear was taken into account, and bonding and felting processes - two major fabric expressional techniques, were examined. Third, 8 fabrics for art wear and 2 men's art wears were made, based on the theoretical background. The conclusion obtained through this study process is as follows. First, by utilizing the Yeonggimoon (= Yeonggi Pattern : 靈氣文 : Pattern of divine and subtle spirit), the basic unit of the pattern development among the patterns which appear in the Kokuryo ancient tombs as the basic motive of the design, the unlimited possibility of the modern interpretation of our patterns could be found. Second, the possibility of development of fabric for men's wear could be presented by expressing the various three-dimensional texture effect by utilizing handcraft process method. Third, a possibility to make a new interpretation and create tangible designs was found from 11 works. Through this study, the necessity of the modern interpreting task and the development of high-end art fabric for men's wear could be recognized through the continuous study on the traditional korean patterns which have been magnified form the vine pattern of basic unit type, and the follow-up study shall have to visualize the creation of the design in the various and creative scopes.
