접부채(Folding Fan)의 조형적 특성을 응용한 핸드백 디자인 연구

Abstract

21세기를 살아가는 현대인들은 패션분야에 있어서도 다양한 스타일과 그에 따른 개성 있는 디자인에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 또한 소비자들의 개성 있고 다양한 라이프스타일은 그 수요에 맞는 디자인 제품들의 생산을 유도하고 있다. 핸드백이 개인의 개성화를 정의 내리는데 큰 도움을 주었기 때문이다. 이러한 흐름에 의해 물건을 수납하는 기능이 주요 기능이었던 핸드백에 변화가 시작되었다. 다양한 소재와 디테일을 사용한 핸드백들이 출시되고 있으며 이를 위한 소재와 기법에 대한 개발과 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 또한 핸드백 디자인에 있어서도 다양한 디자인의 다양한 시도들이 전개되고 있다. 그러나 아직까지는 창의적인 핸드백 디자인 전개에 대한 연구가 충분히 이뤄지지 않고 있으며, 이러한 연구에 대한 필요성이 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구의 방법과 범위에 있어서, 접부채의 개념과 정의에 관해서는 전문영역에 해당하는 문헌연구를 토대로 하였으며, 접부채의 역사와 종류에 관해서는 다양한 참고 자료를 연구 분석하고, 이에 따른 접부채의 조형적 특성을 응용한 선행 사례들에 관해 살펴보았다. 또한 핸드백에 대한 이론적 고찰에 관해서는 핸드백의 개념과 정의, 기능과 역사, 그리고 종류와 형태에서 나타나는 조형적 특징을 각종 전문 서적 및 참고 문헌 연구 분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 이러한 접부채와 핸드백에 관한 고찰을 통해 다음과 같이 작품제작을 하였다. 펼쳐진 상태의 접부채는 부챗살들에 의해 방사선형으로 된 삼각형의 단위형태로 반복되어 연결된 조형적 특성을 갖고 있다. 또한 접부채는 주름에 의해 접었다 펼쳤다 할 수 있는 기능이 있다. 이에 첫 번째 그룹에서는 부챗살 형상의 단위형태들을 핸드백 전체에 적용, 외관 실루엣에 변화를 주어 새로운 조형성을 표현하였고 또한 접부채의 주름을 핸드백에 부분적으로 적용시켜 새로운 요소로의 기능을 적용하였다. 본 연구에서는 접부채의 형태적 이미지가 가진 조형성과 접부채의 주름이 가진 기능을 응용하여 조형성과 함께 새로운 요소의 기능을 부여한 핸드백 디자인을 제시하고자 한다. 또한 작품제작에 사용되는 재료는 핸드백 디자인에 매우 중요한 역할로 작용하였다. 접부채의 조형적 특성을 표현하기 위해선 여러 겹의 가죽을 겹쳐야 하는데 비교적 얇고 부드러운 고트 가죽은 이러한 기법을 효과적으로 표현한다. 그러므로 핸드백 형태 변화를 시도한 첫 번째 그룹에서는 단위형태가 주는 조형성과 화려함을 부각시키기 위해 에나멜 고트 가죽을 선정하였다. 두 번째 그룹은 주름이 주는 기능성을 강조하기 위해 내추럴 고트 가죽을 선정하였다. 컬러는 두 그룹에 통일성과 함께 직선적인 느낌을 표현하기 위해 블랙 컬러를 주조색으로 하며 레드, 오렌지, 실버를 조화시켜 색채대비를 통한 모티브의 시각적 효과를 부각시켰다. 제작 방법은 접부채의 조형성을 효과적으로 표현해 주기 위해 약칠(Edge Painting)로 가죽의 잘려진 단면을 살려주고자 하였으며 본텍스 등 보강부자재로 핸드백의 내구성을 높였다. 본 연구를 통해서 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 접부채를 이루고 있는 삼각형의 단위형태들을 핸드백 디자인에 적용시킴으로써 핸드백 전체 실루엣에 변화와 새로운 조형성을 부여하는 데에 적합했다. 둘째, 접부채의 주름을 핸드백 디자인에 있어서 부분적으로 적용시킴으로써 접부채처럼 형태와 부피를 변형시킬 수 있는 기능을 구현하는 데 효과적이었다. 셋째, 핸드백 작품제작에 있어서 고트 가죽을 재료로 사용함으로써 핸드백 디자인에 접부채가 가진 조형적 특성을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있었다. 특히 첫 번째 그룹에 있어서 전체 실루엣에 변화를 준 핸드백 디자인에는 에나멜 고트 가죽을 사용하여 도형의 특징과 결합원리가 보여주는 운동감을 부각시켜주었다. 두 번째 그룹의 핸드백 디자인에 있어서는 내추럴 고트 가죽을 사용함으로써 모던함과 주름이 주는 조형성을 부각시키는데 효과적이었다. 또한 다른 표면감의 핸드백들에 통일감을 주기 위해 블랙을 메인컬러로 선정하여 통일감은 물론 현대적인 감성을 작품에 넣는데 적절하였다. 넷째, 종합적으로 접부채가 가진 조형적 특징과 기능은 핸드백 디자인에 새로운 조형미과 기능을 부여할 수 있는 가능성을 제시할 수 있었다. 이러한 디자인 발상을 통해 조형성과 심미성, 그리고 실용적 기능을 가진 핸드백을 구현할 수 있었다.;As the modern people seek a diverse lifestyle and individuality, they are more interested in high class fashion products. With more products rolling out into the markets, the competition is getting more severe. It is because the handbags are taking roots as one of the most central items which people are trying to express their individuality through. So, the new innovative designs of handbags have been tried. On these backdrops, this study will focus on the folding fan for handbag design which is: easy to carry, portable, light, beautiful and functional. In this study, the origins and types of folding fans have been researched using previous literatures. As the folding fan has the beauty and functions of wrinkles, it was proper to apply it to handbags. Second, the study was made on the definition and history of hand bags, and how they are being used in modern society. The folding fan has the basic patterns of triangles combined in the radiation form but it has various forms depending on how much the fan is unfolded. In addition, as the folding fan has the folds or wrinkles, it can be unfolded for being used as a fan and then be folded for storage. In addition, the wrinkles in the folding fan are beautiful. If they are applied to handbags, they would be very effective both in aesthetic and functional ways. In the first group, the shape of the fan ribs was applied to the surface of the handbag. In the second group, the pattern of wrinkles on the folding fan was partially applied to the handbag, thus making it more beautiful and allowing it to have diversity in size and shape. As for the materials, to express the combinations of unit shape and the wrinkles effectively, soft goat leather was selected as it is thin and has a good pattern. For hand bags using the shape of folding fans, the enamel goat leather was used to highlight the beauty and the modification of shapes. For the handbag applied with the wrinkles of a folding fan, the natural goat leather was used to focus on the pattern and functionality of the wrinkles. In addition, for the uniformity and modernity of the two groups of different materials applied for the surface, the color black was selected as the main color. As for the point colors, red and orange were selected to maximize effectiveness of the motives. Also to emphasize the straightness and modernity of the fan, deep silver color was used as a point color. The handbag was edge painted to give the effect of pattern of the folding fan and to express the cut surface of the leather. It was also reinforced with bond textile for durability. In this study, handbag designs applied the new formative characteristic have been suggested with the application of pattern and shape of the folding fan. The following conclusions were made. First, the pattern of triangles in radiation form and the layered structure were applied to the handbag. Through this application, it was found out that a variety of shapes can be made depending on how unit shapes are combined and repeated together. In addition, it was found that the patterns of unit shapes in the folding fan are very proper to give new patterns and change in the silhouette of the handbags. Second, it was hard to apply the pattern of wrinkles in the folding fan to the handbag as long as the durability of the handbag is concerned. For the reduction of difficulty in applications of the pattern to the hand bag, a part of the pattern of wrinkles was applied. Through this, the pattern of wrinkles can be applied to the handbag to improve the sharpened the volume changing function of the handbag and decoration. Third, there was a problem of weight and dull details if the thick cow leather was to be applied. To solve this problem, the relatively thin and soft goat leather was used. So, as originally intended, the characteristics of shape of a folding fan were realized. The enamel goat leather helped the characteristics of shape and the principle of combinations realized and the natural goat leather was excellent in improving the modernity and functions of wrinkles. But as the goat leather was soft but easy to be torn or extended, the reinforcement was used for enhancing the durability. To give the uniformity to different groups of surface and improve the modern touch, black was used as the main color. In addition, the point colors such as red and silver were properly used to emphasize the fan as the motive. Fourth, in total, the characteristics of pattern and function of folding fan were very helpful for the new design of the hand bag. The folding fan could be used as the motive of the handbag. In addition, it was very helpful to realize the handbag in a way that has the aesthetic beauty and practical functions. As modern people ask for more diverse and individualistic handbags to their own life style and individuality, diverse handbags are put into the markets. To meet the trend, the creative design of handbags are required. So, we could suggest a new idea of design using the pattern and function of a folding fan. We hope that this study would be a motive for further studies on motives other than folding fans.
