R. Schumann의 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」에 관한 연구

Abstract

This thesis is a study of 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」 by Robert Schumann, one of the works played during the recital for the completion of Master's degree. This paper is about Schumann-- a music critic; a writer; and a classic composer who tried to graft a literary inspiration on his musical works. Also, this thesis presents a comprehension and interpretation of 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」and its features. 「Kreisleriana Op. 16 is one of Schumann’s master pieces. This music shows the essence of romantic music. This piece is heavily influenced by character Kapellmeister Johaness Kreisler from hoffman’s novel,『Kater Murr』. In 19thcentury Europe, the movement arose from classicism, which was centered in rationality, to romanticism. 19thcentury romanticists had a longing for fantasy-- a world of idealism and vision. They wanted to materialize an idealistic world in their work. In addition, they grafted literary works like poems and novels onto music to decrease the gap between different area of art. Classical music used the sonata form. The romantic age music had the trend by comsed for caracterpieces of programme music. Schumann composed his work combining these features to express ideas of liberty and romantic feelings to show the correlation between literature and music. kreisleriana belongs to character pieces. It is comprised of eight pieces in total. Each piece contains the passionate ego, Florestan, and the dreaming ego, Eusebius, to show the duplicity of kreisler, the conductor of the novel. These two different sides not only show Schumann’s inner world but also the duplicity of human beings. To contrast these two egos, Schumann used changes in dynamics, tempo, rhythm, and tune to differentiate the atmosphere of the music. He also uses piguration of subsect motive and rhythms to unify and correlate the music systematically repeating three part form and rondo. Schumann(1810-1856)의 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」에 대한 연구이다. 본 논문은음악평론가이자 문필가이며 음악작품에 문학적 영감을 접목시키고자 했던 대표적인 작곡가인 슈만에 대해 살펴보고, 이 곡의 특징을 알아봄으로써 보다 정확하게 악곡을 이해하고 해석하는데 목적이 있다. 「Kreisleriana Op. 16」는 슈만의 최대 걸작의 하나이자 낭만음악의 정수를 보여주는 작품으로 호프만의 소설『숫고양이 무어의 인생관(Kater Murr)』에서 나오는 주인공인 악장 크라이슬러(Kapellmeister Johaness Kreisler)에 영감을 받아 작곡한 곡이다. 19세기에 유럽에서는 이성을 중심으로 한 고전주의에서 낭만주의로의 움직임이 대두되기 시작하였는데 19세기 낭만주의자들은 현실에서 존재하지 않는 판타지, 즉 이상과 환상의 세계를 동경하였으며 작품에서 이러한 자신의 이상세계를 구현해 내고자 하였다. 또한 음악에서는 시나 소설 등 문학작품을 음악에 접목시킴으로써 서로 다른 분야의 예술의 융합을 통해 예술장르간의 간극을 좁히고자 하기도 하였다. 고전음악시대에 많이 사용되어진 기존의 소나타형식에서 낭만시대 음악은 표제음악의 성격적 소품이 작곡되는 새로운 경향이 나타났는데 슈만은 이러한 성격소품을 많이 작곡하여 문학적인 연관성을 드러내었으며 자유로운 사상과 감정을 표출해 내고자 하였다. 크라이슬레리아나도 성격적 소품의 하나이며 총 8곡으로 구성되어 있는데 각 곡들은 소설의 주인공인 악장 크라이슬러의 이중성의 특징을 나타내기 위해 슈만이 만든 가상의 인물인 열정적인 기질의 Florestan과 섬세하고 몽상가적 기질의 Eusebius의 두 자아가 나온다. 이는 슈만의 이중적 내면세계이기도 하며 인간의 속성에 해당하는 양면성을 나타내기도 한 것이다. 이러한 두 자아를 대비하기 위해 음악적으로 쓰인 효과로는 갑작스런 다이나믹의 변화, 템포의 변화, 리듬의 변화, 선율의 변화 등을 사용하여 분위기의 변화를 꾀하였으며 통일성을 주기 위해 조성관계와 주제동기의 음형과 리듬형을 사용하였다. 또한 3부형식과 론도를 반복하면서 사용하여 유기적인 연관성을 주고자 하였다. 본 논문에서는 「Kreisleriana Op.16」이 쓰여진 배경을 알아보고 이 곡의 분석을 통해 슈만의 음악적 특징이 Kreisleriana에서 어떻게 반영되었는지 구체적으로 알아본다.
