말레이시아 정부 장학생을 위한 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정의 중요도-만족도 분석을 통한 요구분석

Abstract

본 논문은 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램의 한국어 교사 및 말레이시아 정부 장학생을 대상으로 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램의 운영, 목표, 교육 내용, 교사, 교재의 5 개 영역, 35 개 항목에 관한 중요도-만족도 조사를 실시함으로써 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램의 실태를 살피고 각 영역 중, 중점적으로 개선이 필요한 것은 무엇인지, 그리고 한국어 교사, 공학 교사, 말레이시아 정부 장학생과 주한 말레이시아 교육부 참사관의 요구는 어떠한지를 살펴본 연구이다. 본 논문의 구성은 다음과 같다. I 장에서는 연구의 필요성 및 목적에 대해 기술하고 논문의 구성을 소개한다. II 장에서는 이론적 배경에 대해 살펴봤는데 먼저 교육과정의 정의 및 구성요소, 한국어 교육과정, 대학 입학 전 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정, 내용 중심 언어교수 등에 관해 정리하였다. 그리고 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램을 소개하고 본 논문에서 자료를 분석하기 위해 적용한 중요도-만족도 분석 방법에 대해 알아보았다. 그 다음에 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정에 관한 선행 연구를 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 특히 학문 목적 학습자를 위한 한국어 교육과정 개발과 교수요목 설계, 학문 목적 한국어 교육을 위한 요구분석, 그리고 학문 목적 한국어 교육과정 현황과 설계의 실제를 다룬 연구를 정리한 뒤, 두 가지 연구 문제를 도출하였다. 연구 문제 1은 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램의 운영, 목표, 교육 내용, 교사 및 교재에 대해 한국어 교사와 말레이시아 정부 장학생을 대상으로 중요도-만족도 분석을 실시하여 각 영역별로 유지, 집중, 낮은 순위, 과잉에 해당하는 영역은 무엇인지를 살펴보는 것이고, 이를 통해 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램에서 중점 개선이 필요하다고 판단한 항목에 대해 구체적으로 살펴본다. 연구 문제 2는 심층 면담을 통해 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램에 대한 한국어 교사, 공학 교사, 말레이시아 정부 장학생과 주한 말레이시아 교육부 참사관의 요구를 알아보는 것이다. III 장에서는 연구 내용 및 방법에 대한 내용을 다룬다. 먼저 연구 절차를 밝히고 중요도-만족도 분석과 심층 면담에 참여한 연구 대상에 관한 정보를 기술하였다. 설문지 구성 내용과 분석 방법을 구체적으로 기술한 다음에 예비 조사와 본 조사의 자료 수집 과정을 정리하였다. IV 장에서는 연구 결과를 분석하고 논의하였다. 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램의 5 개 영역, 35 개 항목에 대한 분석 결과에서 한국어 교사와 말레이시아 정부 장학생이 집중 개선이 필요하다고 판단한 항목은 다음과 같다. 첫 번째는 한국어 교사인 경우이다. 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램 운영 영역에서는 ‘장학생 선발 기준’, ‘말레이시아 정부의 협조 및 참여’이고 목표 영역에서는 ‘학문 수학에 필요한 언어 능력 배양’이다. 교육 내용 영역에서는 ‘한국어 발음’, ‘대학에서 필요한 학업 활동에 관련된 교육’이고 교재 영역에서는 ‘학습자가 대학 진학에 필요한 전공 지식과 전공 용어를 익힐 수 있도록 돕는 교재’이다. 두 번째는 말레이시아 정부 장학생인 경우다. 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램 운영 영역에서는 ‘교육 과정 중 공학 수업 운영’, ‘말레이시아 정부의 협조 및 참여’이고 교육 내용 영역에서는 ‘전공 기초 지식을 배양하는 교육’이다. 교재 영역에서는 ‘학습자가 대학 진학에 필요한 전공 지식과 전공 용어를 익힐 수 있도록 돕는 교재’이다. 중요도-만족도 분석을 통해 개선이 필요한 항목을 바탕으로 설문지의 개방형 질문 분석과 심층 면담을 통해 한국어 교사, 공학 교사, 말레이시아 정부 장학생, 주한 말레이시아 교육부 참사관의 요구와 의견을 구체적으로 알아보았다. 이를 통해 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램에 대한 개선 방안을 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, 더 효율적이고 새로운 내용과 전문성을 갖춘 교육 프로그램을 이뤄지기 위해 말레이시아 정부 장학생의 학습 목표와 특성을 고려하여 특화된 교재 개발이 요구된다. 둘째, 만족도 높은 공학 수업을 위해 공학 수업의 교수 시간과 교수 내용을 잘 맞춰서 재구성해야 한다. 셋째, 더 향상된 의사소통 능력을 가지기 위해 말하기 연습 시간이나 말하기 전략 등 교육 내용을 강화해야 한다. V 장에서는 결론으로 연구 결과를 정리하고 본 연구가 갖는 의의를 밝히고 연구의 한계점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제안을 기술하였다. 본 연구는 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램이 현 단계에서 집중 개선이 필요한 영역이 무엇인지를 확인하고 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램 발전을 위한 효과적인 자료를 제공하는 데 의의를 가진다고 할 수 있으며 말레이시아 정부에서 효과적인 지원을 위한 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한 한국어 교사, 공학 교사, 말레이시아 정부 장학생과 주한 말레이시아 교육부 참사관과의 심층 면담을 통해 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램에 대한 요구, 중요한 정도, 만족한 정도를 확실하게 파악하였다. 본 논문은 말레이시아 정부 장학생 프로그램만을 중심으로 하여 일반 말레이시아 한국어 학습자들에게 연구 결과를 일반화하기에 제한이 있다. 또한 공학 수업에 대한 중요도-만족도 조사를 실시하지 못한 한계와 아쉬움이 있어서 앞으로 이 점을 보완한 후속 연구를 제한하였다.;An Importance Performance Analysis Model was applied for a sample of Malaysian Government Scholarship students and Korean Language teachers to investigate the importance and satisfaction of Korean Language Program in terms of management, goal, educational content, teacher and textbook. The gab between both perspectives and the demands of students, teachers and counselor of training and education of Malaysian students towards Korean Language Program were also evaluated. Based on the findings of this study, some proposals were suggested to improve the quality of Korean Language Program for Malaysian Government Scholarship students. 26 surveys for Korean languages teachers and 145 surveys for Malaysia Government Students were collected through a questionnaire survey to measure the importance and satisfaction of Korean Language Program. Collected data was statistically processed through SPSS 17.0 program and Importance Performance Analysis Model was used as analytical tool to determine which attributes in the program are in need of improvement. In addition, interviews were also conducted with two Malaysian students, two Korean Language teachers, an engineering teacher and counselor of Training and Education of Malaysian in Korea, to figure out the perspectives and demands towards Korean Language Program. The result of Importance Performance Analysis of Korean Language Program for Malaysian Government Scholarship students is summarized as follows. First and foremost, in terms of program's management, the analysis results from Korean Language teachers show that, future improvement should be focused on 'the criterion for selecting JPA scholarship student' and 'support and participation from Malaysian government' for the program. In terms of program's goal, the analysis results from Korean Language teachers show that, future improvement should be focused on 'to develop Korean Language ability for academic purpose or study need in college or university'. In terms of educational content, the analysis results from Korean Language teachers show that, future improvement should be focused on 'Korean pronunciation class' and 'assignment or task study' for the program. In terms of Korean textbook, the analysis results from Korean Language teachers show that, future improvement should be focused on 'textbook for enhancing knowledge and scientific terms of engineering'. Secondly, the analysis results from Malaysian students show that, in terms of program's management, future improvement should be focused on 'providing engineering class for students before entering college or university' and 'support and participation from Malaysia government' for the program. In terms of educational content, the analysis results from Malaysian students show that, future improvement should be focused on 'basic knowledge of major study'. In terms of Korean textbook, the analysis results from Malaysian students show that, future improvement should be focused on 'textbook for enhancing knowledge and scientific terms of engineering'. Based on the findings from the Importance Performance Analysis and interview, suggestions for improving the quality and satisfaction of Korean Language Program for Malaysian Government Scholarship students is as follows. First, publishing new textbook specially for Malaysian Government Scholarship students to cater for their needs in studying technical subjects with Korean Language. Secondly, reconstituting the educational content of engineering class in Korean Language Program by adjusting the contents to improve learning effect. Thirdly, enhancing speaking class to improve Malaysian Government Scholarship student's communication skills. This study has pointed out the aspects and attributes in Korean Language Program for Malaysian Government Scholarship students are particularly in need of improvement. The finding and the improvement suggestions can be a useful reference for the development of Korean Language Program for Malaysian Government Scholarship students.
