안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램에 대한 연구

Abstract

Among crucial factors to produce great work of arts, the creator’s ability is considered to be the most important. Therefore, in order to promote such ability, many cultural arts organizations have been implementing diverse supporting program for the creators since 2000s. Among them was the ‘Artist Incubating Program’ introduced during the mid 2000s. The ‘Artist Incubating Program’ is designed to discover promising creators and supports them on a long term basis by providing professional education or mentoring program during the creating process. This study focuses on the 'Incubating Program for Choreographers,' which have been considered the most urgent issue in the dance genre. The 'Incubating Program for Choreographers' is certainly a meaningful program for it strengthens the creating ability of choreographers and helps their career on a long term basis. However, several issues have arisen on what and how it has achieved its goal of vitalizing the create dance field in Korea and, how it actually influenced the choreographers. Therefore, this study analyzes its achievements and problems, and presents several suggestions on how to make the system more efficient. For this, this paper examines three representative 'Choreographer Incubating Programs' of Korea and another three programs of overseas. Then, it analyzes the achievements and pending issues of the program which the Arts Council of Korea (ARKO) has been implementing since 2007. In conclusion, this paper suggests the direction and improvement plan based on the comparative analysis of incubating programs of Korea and other countries, and the in-depth analysis of ARKO’s program.;우수한 예술작품의 창작에는 여러 요소들이 작용하겠지만 연구자는 창작자의 역량이 가장 중요하다고 본다. 2000년대 이후 국내 여러 문화예술 기관들이 창작자의 역량을 지원하기 위해 창작기금뿐만 아니라 다양한 지원사업을 실시하고 있다. 특히 2000년대 중반부터 창작자를 발굴하고 중장기적으로 창작역량을 지원하는 ‘예술가 인큐베이팅 프로그램’이 국내에 도입되었다. 본 논문은 신진 안무가를 발굴하여 이들에게 단계별로 교육이나 멘토링 과정을 제공하는 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램에 대한 연구이다. 우수 안무가의 발굴과 체계적인 양성은 무용 분야에서 지속적으로 제기되어 온 문제이며 시급한 사안이었다. 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램은 신진 안무가의 창작 역량을 강화하고, 이들의 향후 안무 활동에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 또한 중장기적인 측면에서 무용 분야의 현안을 해결할 수 있으므로 매우 의미가 있다. 하지만 이러한 인큐베이팅 프로그램이 참여 안무가들에게 실질적으로 어떤 영향을 주었는지, 프로그램의 궁극적인 목표인 국내 창작무용의 활성화에 어떤 기여를 했는지 등 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램의 성과나 문제점에 대해 논의된 바가 거의 없었다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램의 성과를 점검하고 문제점을 도출하여 지원체계와 운영방안의 개선점을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 연구자는 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램의 현황을 파악해 보고자 국내외의 대표적인 프로그램 6개를 선정하여 비교분석하였다. 국내 사례로는 한국문화예술위원회의 ‘차세대안무가클래스’, 국립현대무용단의 ‘안무가 베이스캠프’, LIG아트홀의 ‘레지던스-I(Residence for Incubating: 인큐베이팅 레지던스)’를 선택하였다. 그리고 해외 사례로는 프랑스 르와요몽(Royaumont) 재단의 ‘트랜스폼(Transforme)’, 오스트리아 댄스 웹(danceWEB)의 ‘댄스웹 스칼러쉽(danceWEB Scholarships)’, 미국 아메리칸 댄스 인스티튜트(American Dance Institute)의 ‘아메리칸 댄스 인큐베이터(American Dance Incubator)’를 선택하였다. 그런 후 한국문화예술위원회가 2007년부터 2013년까지 7년간 진행해 온 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램을 중심으로 국내 프로그램의 성과와 현안을 심층적으로 분석하였다. 결론에서는 국내외 사례 분석과 한국문화예술위원회 프로그램의 심층 분석에 기반을 두고 국내 안무가 인큐베이팅 프로그램의 향후 방향성과 발전방안을 제시하였다.
