자연의 생명력을 통한 파라다이스 표현

Abstract

인간은 언어, 종교, 철학 과학, 산업, 예술과 같은 문명을 창조하고 발전시켰다. 또한 물질적이고 기술적인 발전으로 현대는 양적이고 질적인 풍요로움을 누리고 있다. 인간은 문명의 발전이라는 명목으로 자연을 정복하고 지구상의 많은 생태학적 존재들을 이용해왔다. 그로 인해 자연이 파괴되고 생태계의 균형이 깨지는 등의 현대사회의 심각한 문제들이 제기되고 있다. 또한 자연의 파괴는 인간의 내면에도 이어지고 있다. 이런 이유로 인간은 도시 문명 속의 현세적 만족감에서 벗어나 생명력이 가득한 자연에서 지친 눈과 마음을 정화시킬 수 있는 파라다이스를 꿈꾸게 된다. 본인의 파라다이스는 태고의 원시성으로 가득 찬 야생의 정글이다. 특히 인간에 의한 인공성을 배재한 자연 속 식물과 동물들에서 오는 원초적 생명력에 주목하였다. 인간이 만든 질서와 법으로부터 자유로운 야생은 인간의 기준으로는 혼돈스럽고 위험해 보인다. 그러나 거기에는 인간의 세상보다 더 완전한 조화나 균형이 존재하기 때문에 원초적인 자연은 현대인들을 위한 파라다이스라고 생각하였다. 본인의 작업을 설명하기 위한 이론적 배경으로 환경 위기에 대한 자각으로 인하여 생겨난 생태학적 관점에서 작품 속 인간-자연 사이의 순환 구조와 생태계의 파괴원인에 대해서 생각해보았다. 또한 파라다이스의 철학적, 문화적 의미를 알아보고 본인이 생각하는 파라다이스와 구체적으로 어떤 점이 부합하는지에 대해서 알아보았다. 파라다이스를 소재로 한 작가 중에서 자연의 아름다움과 동식물들이 현실세계에서 보여 지는 대상을 마치 비현실 세계에 존재하듯이 표현한 천경자와 자연으로부터 자신만의 기법을 만들어내었고 정글화 속에서 새롭고 신비로운 환상적 화풍으로 표현한 앙리루소에 대해서도 연구하였다. 조형적인 방법에서는 열대 식물의 형태들을 평면적이고 장식적으로 표현하였다. 또한 원색적이며 대비되는 색채를 사용하여 생명력을 강조하였다. 본인의 파라다이스 속에 나타나는 열대의 동식물들인 열대식물, 뱀, 개구리, 도마뱀의 상징성에 대해서도 알아보았다. 우리는 삭막한 도시문명을 벗어나 자연으로 돌아가고자 한다. 그 중에서도 원초적인 자연의 생명력을 통해 현대인들에게 휴식과 에너지를 줄 수 있는 파라다이스를 연구하였다. 앞으로 이론적 바탕과 표현방법에 대해 구체적으로 탐구해 나감으로써 이전까지의 작업의 미흡했던 점을 보완하고 동시에 앞으로의 작업 방향에 있어서 보다 발전적인 모색을 기대한다.;Humans have created and developed civilization including language, religion, philosophy, science, industry, and art. Also, with thematerial and technological development, people enjoy quantitative and qualitative abundant in this modern society. Despite people enjoy the benefit, they have treated nature with wrong conceit they can conquer nature and make use of ecological materials on the earth. As a result, people in the modern society are suffering from serious problems from the destruction of the ecology and the off-balanced ecosystem. Also, they are losing not only nature but also the inner side of human beings. With this, people dream a paradise where they can escape from temporal satisfaction what the city civilization providesand take rest for their tired eyes and minds in tropical rain forest. The paradise that I imagine is a jungle in the wild with ancient primitiveness. I focus on primitive vitality from plants and animals in tropical rain forest without artificialness from human being. Tropical rain forest where has no relevance with order and law people have developed is looked confused and dangerous to human beings. But there is a harmony and balance better than them in human society, so I think tropical rain forest is a perfect paradise to modern people. To study the subject, I consider of circulation structure between human-nature-animal in the work and energy from nature with ecological aspect emerged with self-awareness of ecocrisisas a theoretical background. Also, I study philosophical and literal meanings of paradise and try to find out what corresponds with the paradise that I imagine concretely. And I study Cheon Kyungja who expresses an aspect of the beauty and animals and plants in nature from the view of reality as it is existed in a unreal world and Henri Rousseau who creates his own techniques from the nature and expresses newness and mystique with fantastic style in his jungle paints among artists who choose paradise as a subject. For formative methods, light images are used by emphasizing simplicity, harmony, balance, accent, and rhythm of leaves and petals of tropical plants flatly and decoratively. And bold, vivid, contrasting colors more than themwhat natural plants have are used to emphasize vitality. Symbolical animals and plants such as tropical plants, snakes, frogs, and lizards are appeared in my paradise. They mean circulation of vitality in tropical rain forest. They make a balance without participation of human beings. But human artificially break the balance and ruin the circulation. To remind the facts, animals are appeared in the jungle. People want to leave destructed nature with tyranny of human and rigid city and go back to nature. With basic vitality of nature, I study a paradise with exotic scenery where modern people can enjoy rest and receive energy. By studying theoretical backgrounds and expression methods with more detail, I will supplement insufficient aspects and find out development in further art works at the same time.
