시간의 중요성을 바탕으로 한 무용창작작품 「찰나의 외면」에 관한 연구

Abstract

Information society in these days has experienced radical change based on production of information and rapid development and this society structure causes alterations of people’s lives and thoughts. Modern people who are trying to adapt themselves to those rapidly changing circumstances divide time into important things and marginal things like dividing space. Moreover, they only aim for single destination without knowing various possibilities to the objective. Therefore, the researcher tried to recognize the nature of time and by doing so, she also raised not uniformed thoughts but open way of thinking. One of the objectives of this study is construction of conception about time based on time theory of Buddhism and continuity theory of Henri Bergson. The other goal is recognizing importance of time with essence of continuous flow by analyzing「Look away of moment」(2012) choreographed by considering esthetics of moment of Henri Cartier Bresson. In「Look away of moment」, the writer divided stage space into domains of past, present, and future to deliver the importance of time. The work which consists of three chapters used video to describe unbounded desired of human and significance of present and to transmit the theme of the work to an audience. The work was composed of three chapters the researcher analyzed the work by dividing the work into topic as well as content, composition of stage space classified by scene, movement and trajectory of the dancer, image of the video. Chapter one depicted anxiety of people who lie on a crossroads. With the area limited by long lighting that connects right to left the researcher used only straight line pattern and described strong tenacity for their objective with restrained movement of the dancer. Moreover, by shaking the foot of the dancer intentionally, expressing inner side of a person who is nervous. On top of that, sound effect of a clock was used for expressing that anxiety will come with unexpected moment. The change of scene was done with transition of music tempo and dynamic change of the motion of the dancer. In the second chapter, the researcher used square light of right to represent maximization of people’s eagerness to capture a crucial moment and expressed the movement of the dancer in limited section. To indicate the capture of moment symbolically, lighting effect like the flicker of a camera shutter and hand motion pointing the air were used. Moreover, sometimes mute effect was used in the flow of music to express silence. When the music was on, the dancer was in still holding her hands and otherwise, she stretched her legs and arms upward in order to enlarge her body. With these effects, person who is chasing the capture of moment was emphasized. The third chapter described that the person who had been confronted to the present had realized the importance of time out of uniformed thoughts. By splitting stage space into right, center, left as meanings of the past, present, and future respectively, the researcher gave symbolic meanings to those spaces. Also, with repeated motion of taking hands of the dancer together, the importance of the present was emphasized. Video images of jumping feet were projected to the screen beyond the left and movement of the dancer similar to the video images were conducted also on the center of the stage and this was to highlight endless desires of people. With「Look away of moment」which is focused on the importance of time, the researcher tried to make modern people recognize the importance of the present anew and see their present lives in the process of continuous time flow with wider viewpoint through not results-oriented thoughts but liberal views.;오늘날 사회는 다양한 정보의 생산과 비약적인 발전을 중심으로 급진적인 변화를 이뤘으며 이러한 사회구조는 사람들의 삶의 방식과 사고의 변화를 야기하였다. 급변하는 사회에 적응하기 위한 현대인들은 시간을 공간처럼 분할하여 중요한 것과 중요치 않은 것으로 이분화하고 다양한 목표를 향한 가능성을 간과한 채 단일한 목적지만을 지향하고 있다. 따라서 연구자는 시간의 본질을 재인식하고 획일화된 사고가 아닌 개방적인 사고방식의 필요성을 제기하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 시간에 대한 개념을 불교의 시간론, 앙리 베르그송(Henri Bergson)의 지속이론, 사진의 현재성을 바탕으로 구축하고 앙리 카르티에 브레송(Henri Cartier Bresson)의 찰나의 미학을 접목하여 창작된 무용작품「찰나의 외면」에 대한 분석으로 지속적인 흐름을 본질로 하는 시간의 중요성을 인식하고자 하였다. 「찰나의 외면」에서는 작품의 주제인 시간의 중요성을 전달하기 위해 불교의 연기법에 따라 무대 공간을 과거, 현재, 미래의 구역으로 구분하였으며 인간의 끝없는 욕망과 현재의 중요성을 나타내기 위해 영상을 사용하여 작품의 주제를 효과적으로 전달하고자 하였다. 본 작품은 총 세 장으로 구성되었으며 주제 및 내용, 장면별 무대구성, 무용수의 이동경로와 움직임, 영상의 이미지로 나누어 작품을 분석하였다. 1장에서는 유한한 시간 속에서 선택의 갈림길에 놓인 인간의 불안한 심리상태를 담아내었다. 무대의 상수와 하수를 잇는 긴 조명으로 제한된 범위 내에서 직선패턴을 사용하여 목표를 향한 인간의 강한 집념을 절제된 움직임으로 긴장감 있게 연출하였으며, 무용수의 발을 의도적으로 흔들거려 초조함에 둘러싸인 인간 내면의 모습을 나타냈다. 시계소리의 효과음은 예기치 못한 시기에 성취의 순간이 다가올 것이라는 심리적 불안감을 표현하는 것으로 템포를 빠르게 하고 움직임 또한 역동적으로 전환하여 장면에 변화를 주었다. 2장에서는 결정적인 순간을 포착하기 위한 인간의 간절함이 극대화되고 있음을 나타내었다. 이를 위해 무대 상수의 직사각형 조명을 사용하여 한정된 공간 내에서만 움직임을 표현하였으며, 순간의 포착을 상징적으로 나타내기 위해 카메라 셔터를 누르면 플래시가 깜빡거리는 조명의 효과와 함께 허공을 향한 손동작을 주로 사용하였다. 또한 음악의 흐름 안에서 무음을 사용하여 순간의 정적을 연출하였는데 음악이 흐를 때는 양손을 마주잡은 채 정지 동작을 하였으며, 음악이 흐르지 않을 때는 팔․다리를 위로 뻗어 신체 범위를 확장시키고 힘있는 동작을 사용하여 음악과 상충된 움직임을 통해 순간의 포착을 쫓는 개인의 모습을 강조하여 표현하였다. 3장에서는 현재의 순간과 마주한 인간이 미래의 결과만을 지향해온 획일적인 사고에서 벗어나 시간의 소중함을 깨닫고 있음을 나타내었다. 이에 무대의 상수 앞, 중앙, 하수 앞을 과거, 현재, 미래로 구분하여 공간에 상징적 의미를 부여하였으며 중앙에서 양손을 마주잡는 동작을 반복하여 현재의 중요성을 강조하였다. 인간의 욕망을 나타내는 점프 동작의 발의 영상 이미지가 무대 하수 뒷막에 투사되고 무대 중앙의 무용수는 영상과 동일한 움직임을 구사하여 반복적으로 각인시키면서 욕망의 끝없음을 표현하였다. 연구자는 시간의 중요성을 바탕으로 안무한 무용창작작품「찰나의 외면」을 통해 매 순간의 중요성을 재인식하고 현대인들이 결과지향적인 사고가 아닌 개방된 사고를 통해 보다 여유롭고 넓은 시각으로 연속적 시간의 과정 안에서 현재의 삶을 바라봐야 함을 강조하고자 하였다.
