부모와의 초기 애착과 대학생의 분리-개별화 및 낭만적 애착 간의 관계

Abstract

본 연구는 생애초기 부모와 형성한 애착이 대학생의 낭만적 애착에 미치는 영향에서 분리-개별화의 매개효과를 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울시에 위치한 4개의 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생(남학생: 157명, 여학생: 133명)을 대상으로 하였다. 부모애착과 분리-개별화, 낭만적 애착은 모두 자기보고용 질문지를 사용하여 조사하였다. 어린 시절 부모와의 애착은 Armsden과 Greenberg(1989)의 부모 및 또래 애착척도 개정본(Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised: IPPA-R)을 옥정(1998)이 번안, 수정한 것을 사용하였으며, 분리-개별화는 Moore(1987)의 부모-청년 분리검사(Parent-Adolescent Separation)를 사용하였다. 낭만적 애착을 측정하기 위하여 Fraley와 Waller (2000)의 ECRS-R(Experiences in Close Relationships Scale-revised)을 김성현(2004)이 번안하고 타당화한 것을 사용하였다. 연구문제의 분석을 위해 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여, 각 변인 간의 Pearson 적률상관분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 연구문제에 따른 주요 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초기 부모와의 애착 및 대학생의 분리-개별화, 낭만적 애착 간의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 세 변인 간에는 밀접한 관련이 있었다. 즉 어린 시절 부모와 안정적으로 애착을 형성한 대학생은 분리-개별화 중 자기관리를 잘 하였으나, 정서적 탈애착은 낮았다. 또한 어린 시절 부모와 안정적인 애착을 형성한 대학생은 낭만적 애착관계에서 불안애착이 낮게 나타났으나, 회피애착은 높았다. 한편 분리-개별화 중 자기관리를 잘하면 불안애착이 낮게 나타났으나, 회피애착은 높게 나타났다. 그리고 분리-개별화 중 정서적 탈애착이 높으면 낭만적 애착 중 불안애착이 높게 나타났지만, 회피애착과는 유의미한 상관이 없었다. 둘째, 초기 부모와의 애착 및 대학생의 분리-개별화, 낭만적 애착 간의 관계에서 성에 따른 차이가 나타나, 남자대학생은 부모애착과 자기관리 간에 유의한 상관이 없었으나, 여자대학생은 부모와 안정적으로 애착을 형성하면 자기관리를 더 잘하였다. 셋째, 초기 부모애착이 대학생의 낭만적 애착에 미치는 영향에서 분리-개별화는 매개적 역할을 하였다. 즉 부모애착과 대학생의 불안애착 간의 관계에서 자기관리는 부분매개 효과를 보여, 부모와 안정적인 애착을 형성하면 대학생은 낭만적 관계에서 불안애착을 덜 나타내는 한편, 높은 자기관리를 통해 불안애착을 덜 보였다. 반면 정서적 탈애착은 완전매개 효과를 보여, 부모와 안정적인 애착을 형성하면 정서적 탈애착이 낮고, 결과적으로 불안애착이 낮게 나타났다. 또한 분리-개별화 중 자기관리는 부모애착이 대학생의 회피애착에 미치는 영향에서 부분매개 효과를 보여, 부모와 안정적인 애착을 형성하면 낭만적 관계에서 회피애착을 더 나타내거나, 높은 자기관리 통해 회피애착을 더 많이 나타냈다. 따라서 초기 부모와의 애착과 대학생의 분리-개별화 및 낭만적 애착은 관련이 깊으며, 분리-개별화의 요인에 따라 직, 간접 영향이 다르다고 결론내릴 수 있다.;The main purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of college students’ separation-individuation in the relations between parental attachment and attachment in romantic relationships. The subjects were 290 university students(157 men, 133 women) in Seoul. Data were gathered via three self-reported questionnaires regarding parental attachment, separation- individuation, and romantic attachment. Data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and hierarchial multiple regressions. The main results of this study were as follows; First, There are significant relations between parental attachment in childhood, and separation-individuation, and romantic attachment of college students. That is, the higher parental attachment was, the higher self-governance of separation-individuation and the lower emotional detachment were found. It was also found that students who showed higher parental attachment showed lower anxiety in romantic attachment, but higher avoidance in romantic attachment. And students with higher self-governance showed lower anxiety and higher avoidance in romantic attachment whereas those with high emotional detachment showed higher anxiety in romantic attachment. Secondly, the relations between parental attachment and college students’ romantic attachment were mediated by separation-individuation. Specifically, self-governance played a partial mediating role between parental attachment and college students’ anxiety in romantic attachment. Meanwhile, emotional detachment played a complete mediating role between parental attachment and students’ anxiety. Finally, self-governance played a partial mediating role between parental attachment and avoidance in romantic relations. In conclusion, the results of this study imply that parental attachment in childhood and separation-individuation are the important antecedent variables in predicting college students’ romantic attachment. Further, college students' separation-individuation plays the mediating role in the relations between parental attachment in childhood and their attachment in romantic relationships.
