병원 실내 공간을 위한 도자 조형 연구

Abstract

실내 공간은 시대, 문화적 요구에 따라, 그리고 사용자와 목적에 따라 다양한 공간으로 변화되고 있다. 공간을 위한 디자인이란 실내 공간의 기능적 요구를 수용함과 동시에 미적으로도 아름다운 공간을 만드는 것을 말한다. 이러한 실내 공간은 다양한 조형물을 사용함으로써 더욱 감성적이고 독창적으로 새롭게 변화시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 다양한 실내 공간 중 병원의 심리적, 미적 환경 개선을 위한 공간 제안을 목적으로 하였다. 병원은 공공 기관으로서 환자의 치료를 목적으로 하며 환자를 배려하는 섬세한 공간 구성이 요구된다. 현대에 이르러 병원은 인간의 몸을 치유하는데 그치지 않고 병원의 심리적 환경을 통해 인간의 감성적인 부분까지 고려하고 있다. 병원들도 병원 실내 공간의 분위기가 환자의 몸을 더욱 건강하고 편안하게 하여 치료에 도움을 줄 수 있다는 것을 중요하게 받아들이게 되었고, 병원 실내 공간의 디자인에 심혈을 기울이며 하나의 개성 있는 공간으로 바꾸려 노력하고 있는 것이다. 현대는 실내 공간을 단순히 미적으로 풍부하게 꾸미기 위한 욕구 뿐 만 아니라, 유해한 환경호르몬과 인공적으로 제작된 소재에서 나오는 발암물질 등에 대한 지속적인 경고와 관심으로 인해 자연적인 소재에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 사회적 요구에 따라 본 연구자는 도자 조형물로 병원의 실내 공간을 친환경적 소재로서 정서적으로 따뜻한 느낌으로 표현해 볼 필요성을 느꼈다. 이에 자연의 생명력을 모티브로 한 도자 조형 작품을 만들어 봄으로써, 환자에게 주는 불안함을 자연이 주는 안정감과 편안한 이미지의 예술 작품으로 극복해보고자 한다. 환자들이 병원을 찾았을 때, 도자라는 매체로 새롭게 조형화된 자연 속에 들어가는 것과 같은 느낌을 받을 수 있도록 제작하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 작품의 소재는 자연의 생명력이 반영된 이미지에서 찾고자 한다. 이는 자연물이 주는 생동감과 마음의 평안을 실내 공간에 표현함으로써 환자와 보호자들에게 심리적으로 가장 안정된 공간을 제공하기 위함이다. 따라서 연구를 위한 이론적인 배경으로 먼저 실내공간의 개념과 구성 원리에 대해 알아보고 실내 디자인에 있어 어떠한 점을 고려해야하는지 살펴보았다. 그 다음으로 병원의 개념 및 변화에 대하여 알아보고, 병원 실내공간의 구성요소를 알아보며 병원의 심리적 영향력의 중요성을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 자연의 생명력이 반영된 이미지에 대한 이론적 배경으로 철학적 의미와 함께 조형적 특징을 연구하였으며 설문을 통해 자연의 이미지가 가장 적절한 병원의 소재가 될 수 있음을 밝혔다. 이를 통해 자연의 생명력이 반영된 이미지로서 본 연구자가 바라본 특징을 분석하여 확대, 또는 변형 후 재구성하여 제작하였다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해 본 연구자는 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 실내 공간이란 공간의 목적에 따른 구성 요소를 활용하여 개성있는 공간으로 바뀔 수 있음을 알았다. 둘째, 예술적인 환경은 환자의 심리적 안정에 기여할 수 있다는 것을 설문조사를 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 자연의 이미지는 다양한 형태로 끊임없이 조형이 가능한 소재이며, 병원을 찾는 환자들에게 자극적이지 않으면서 편안한 이미지를 창출해내는 가장 좋은 소재임을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 도자 조형은 자연에 가까운 재료로서 친환경적이고 편안한 이미지 창출을 위한 좋은 소재임을 알 수 있었고, 흙의 물성과 질감의 따뜻함을 반영하면 더욱 자연스러운 조형이 가능하다는 것을 깨달을 수 있었다. 또한 흙이 가지는 표현의 자유로움은 병원의 실내 공간을 감성적인 공간으로 만들어 주는 데 있어서 적합한 매체라 생각된다. 도자의 표현 가능성은 식기, 도자 벽화, 오브제, 조명 등에 이르기까지 다양하다. 이와 같은 도자 예술의 다양함은 작가들의 새로운 표현 방법과 기술의 발달과 함께 현대인들의 요구에 잘 부합하고 있다. 이러한 도자 매체를 이용한 조형물이 목적이 분명한 실내 공간, 예를 들면 어린이를 위한 동화 속 공간이나 상점을 돋보이게 하는 장식물 등으로 새롭게 거듭난다면 더욱 활기차고 매력적인 소재가 될 것이다. 본 연구를 기점으로 실내 공간의 구체적인 목적을 위한 도자 조형물들이 많이 시도되길 기대한다. 나아가 실내 공간을 하나의 통일된 테마로 제작된 도자 조형물로 구성한다면, 그 공간은 독창적이고 인상적인 공간으로 거듭나게 될 것이다.;Interior space changes according to the historical and cultural demands, its user and purpose. Designing for interior space means that one accommodates the functional requirement of the space while creating a comfortable living environment and an aesthetically pleasing dimension. Such space can reflect more sensitivity and creativity when various three dimensional artworks are used. Among many types of interior spaces, this study deals with the interior space of a hospitals. Hospitals are public institutions and their purpose is to treat patients. Therefore, the elements of hospital interior space need to be sensitive and considerate about patients. In the past, the interior designs of hospitals and other medical institutions had a tendency to consider more about convenient management than the pleasantness that the patients should feel. Modern hospitals go beyond taking care of the physical part of their patients. They now take care of the emotional parts of human as well. Hospitals started trying to change their spaces so that each of them can have its own unique characteristics by putting a lot of efforts into interior designs because they now realize that comfortable environment can improve their patients' health by easing the patients' mind and soul People these days do not only consider about aesthetical points but also about the environmental and health issues with interior designs. With the continuous warning about the endocrine disrupting chemicals and carcinogens from artificial interior products, people are focusing more on natural and environment friendly products. In accordance with this social trend, this study seeks to create a natural and environment friendly ceramic product that is beautiful and can give warm feelings to people. By creating a ceramic objet with the motif of nature's life and wonder, I tried to overcome cold and overly clean feelings of hospital walls with calmness and coziness. The purpose is to give patients feelings of walking into nature, not a hospital, when they see the objet. The topic of this art piece is the image of nature's life energy. The topic was chosen because it seems to be able to provide patients and their family with psychologically stable environment in the hospital by expressing the vividness and peace that the nature gives us. The study first looked at the concept and the fundamentals of interior designs as the theoretical background. Then what to consider when interior designing was handled. The next step is to learn about the concepts and changes hospitals went through, the components of a hospital interior space and the importance of psychological influences that patients receive. Finally, I provided the philosophical meaning and the formative characteristics of the image of nature as the theoretical background. Through a survey, it was found that the image of the nature was the most suitable for hospitals. The piece was created by exaggerating and modifying characteristics of the nature's life energy that I analyzed. From this study I could drew out the following conclusion. First, interior space can acquire more creativity with right components in right positions. Second, there are an infinite number of possibilities that one could create a creative and comfortable hospital interior spaces. Third, the image of the nature is a great topic because it can be made into numerous kinds of objet pieces while giving comfortable feelings without an artificial or overly strong stimulation. Fourth, ceramic is a material perfect for creating a environment friendly and comfortable image because it is a natural substance that can form various shapes reflecting the warm textures of the material itself. Moreover, the freedom in expression when producing an art piece with ceramic makes it the best medium that gives the interior space of a hospital sensitivity. Ceramic is a people-friendly material. Historically speaking, the primitive men started using earthenwares from countless years ago and mugs made ceramic are still in our everyday life. Earth is a chemical-free material and it can formed into numerous objects from tablewares, ceramic fresco, objet to light fixtures. Moreover, ceramic pieces are acknowledged as high quality art with numerous creative expressions of ceramic artists. Therefore, I am certain that ceramic, when made into interior decoration pieces with one clear concept such as a fairy tail world and a antique store, can become more attractive material in the field of interior design. I will conduct the study further in the future and try producing new ceramic pieces that can be used in various interior design works. Moreover, it would be helpful for other studies if they put efforts in expanding the application of ceramic to designs for building architecture and making a building seem like a gigantic ceramic art piece.
